Fema Employment

I received my notice to appear for my naturalization interview next month and had the following questions?

I received the I-797C, notice of action (request for applicant to appear for naturalization initial interview today and had a concern. I became a US permanent resident on May 1, 2002 but left the US after a month to sell my house back home. I came back to the US in September 2002 for a couple of days and returned finally in Feb 2003. The concern I have is I did not quit my job back home until Jan 2003 before I finally left and moved to the US and on the N-400 form I stated my employment back home as part of my 5 year employment history. - WILL THIS COUNT AGAINST ME? Note - I filed US federal taxes in 2002. Also I did not spend more that 6 months away sine I became a resident Also can someone give me an indication of how the interview will go? Many Thanks for your help New Yorker

  1. As long as you included the foreign income with the tax return you will have no problem.
  2. It migh and then again it might not. I do know that you need file it on your tax returnes, okay.
  3. You will be fine. When someone is given a "green card", permanent resident status, the US government assumes it will take this person some time to sell their home, or leave a job, maybe there are kids to finsih school. At our port, we figure the first 2 years to get yourself established. It sounds like you were able to do it much faster. You will have no problems. At the interview, they will ask several questions from the paperwork you were given. It may be something as simple as who was the first president. You need to speak English, which I am sure you do.
  4. Since you sort out the living situation in 2003 and it had been 5 years. It will be fine. If you are getting naturalized by marriage. You might already done the similar interview before. Here is a website, you might can ask your question in. http://boards.immigrationportal.com/forumdisplay.php?f=39
