Why do wages not match inflation? Why is government pushing the US toward technology and not manufacturing?

Why do wages not match inflation? It seems like wages would be increasing to keep up the inflation, since the costs for workers are also increasing. Why has the government not increased wages for government jobs as a way of stabilizing the economy, rather than handing out checks for nothing? Why is government pushing the US toward technology and not manufacturing? Look I get technology, but its invented. Meaning that you can't eat it, it won't fuel your car, it can't even be your car. Our country is getting away from the things we really must have to survive above all. We need to produce enough food to feed our population, we need to produce enough energy cheaply enough to keep us working and healthy, we need to produce our own supplies to live and military goods. It is scary when we lose the capacity to take care of ourselves. What do you think? Am I crazy?

  1. 1 - Over time, they do; in any given period of time, they may not. 2 - Because we don't want to be a third-world country, which is where most manufacturing will be done within 10 - 20 years. This is a GOOD THING because then those third-worlders will have the bux to buy our much higher-value products and services.
  2. Because the republicans have been in power for eight years and their entire economic platform is built on the concept of giving huge tax breaks to the wealthy with the hope that it will fuel the economy and 'trickle down' to everyone else, when in fact the rich just keep getting richer.
  3. You are no where near crazy and you have a good head on your shoulders. Keep digging and keep thinking.
  4. If wages were to rise to match inflation then the rich would not have the upper hand in our lives. Hence, the greedy would be disappointed. Manufacturing has been outsourced to other countries to avoid having to pay a fair price for labor, to avoid having to pay our countries taxes, and to partake in cheaper resources. No, you are not crazy.........they are greedy.
