Can I get an FBI security clearance on my own?
I work in the IT field and there are more job opportunities and more marketable with an FBI security clearance. I have worked in a temporary government position (not federal) and I passed a FBI background check. I have one PI from 2004 that was deferred then dismissed that I'm trying to get expunged currently. Is this possible and if anyone knows, how do you go about this? Thanks!

- No. You have to be sponsored by an agency.
- No, you can't. Most of the information that will be needed is in restricted sources that only authorized agencies can be accessed. Also, an FBI clearance can only be issued by the FBI. Cheers!!
