new job thinking of quitting for another job HELP!!!!?
okay im 21 years old just finished UNiversity 2 months ago and have been working at Procter & Gamble in finance since i graduated. recently i got a new job offer from the government the Canada revenue agency(equiv to I believe the IRS in the states) and I am completly confused about what to do! The job at P&G pays 37K start and they promote from within so Im at the bottom. The job at the government starts at 43,500 and after one year goes to 49,000 as the first year is an apprenticeship but ur guaranteed employment after. Part of me wants to go to the government but Im worried about the future potential as opposed to P&G as I heard its hard to move up in the government but for now the money seems really good also I've only been at P&G for 2 months everyone is really nice and i dont wanna get anyone upset by just quitting. ANY ADVICE?!?!?!

- My advice is to decide based on the actual job. Compare the two jobs and their environments and choose which one you will be the happiest at. Think a little about your personality. The government is usually more restricted about what they can do for you if you are a good employee. Think about government as safe--sure and steady. It is hard to fire slackers in government, so you will have some in your department. If you are risk-averse--go into government. The corporate job probably has more going for it in the long-run. That environment is more flexible in being able to reward people for good work. I would think there is more of a diversity of opportunities there. My recommendation is to stay, unless the govt job really excites you. Good luck.
- sorry u didn't get financial ed in school. P&G starts 37k and work u up. Government may start 'higher' but peak lower and slower, unless u can pull off a coup deta. as for 'guaranteed' employment that is a serious conjob on u. ur employment is based on production and ability to make happy as many bosses as possible. u at any job sell ur body , mind ,spirit for the highest price u can get and They buy u for the cheapest. Reality. Oh u are replace able at both companies.
- are you french bilingual? if not forget about revenue canada if so JUMP AT IT right away
