I was wondering if I will receive all my .state and federal tax back , I am a full time student?

Im 18 Live in Massachusetts Full Time High School Student Part Time Job I made 5981.04 last year Federal Taken Out 371.00 State Taken Out 277.01 Claimed as a dependent on my parents taxes TurboTax online says i will receive 307.00 for federal is this accurate or am i entitled to the full thing or more????

  1. Sounds about right friend... The government gives you a standard deduction of $5,350, so in your case, you are only taxed on $631.00..and lets say roughly federal income tax is around in your case 12%, so for fun say you should have paid around $75 in federal tax... That sounds about right based on what turbotax said was your refund.
  2. Probably, this is correct. And, you should get most of state withheld back, too.
  3. Sounds about right. The first $5350 you made for the year isn't taxed at the federal level - and on the other $631 you will pay 10% - you get the rest refunded to you. Being a full time student doesn't mean you don't pay tax - it depends on how much you made, and you made enough to pay a little bit of tax.
