Have you ever experienced racism of any type? If not, what are your opinions about it? Will it racism improve?

Racism hurts more than people think it does. All I want to do is to be treated with respect, like a normal person, instead of being frowned at and followed around stores. Racism has even gotten me suspended from school once too. Also, my mom is a GS12 government worker at the US State Dept. She wants to transfer back to Georgia, but they always say she isn't "fit" for the job, but then they hire somebody else (that is lower rank than her). Do you think that the opinions of racism toward others will improve and we can learn to all come together? There are even people that are racist on Yahoo! Answers that post negative questions reguarding those of other races/ethnicity. It's really sad.

  1. Yes I have experienced racism from ALL races. From Asian to white to black and even middle eastern.
  2. I think racism is stupid and unintellectual. At this rate, the stuff the media constantly throws out at people is going to make it very difficult to end it.
  3. the one said it best. Only non-white people experience racism.
  4. I think being followed around in stores is not confined to the United States. Keep strong. Many more people than you would believe, are waging those small daily battles.
  5. I've been made fun of, because I'm Asian. Once people insulted me because I couldn't open my EYES as wide as they could (which is horribly stupid) and also was said to be a geek just because there are some Asian people who aren't really popular in our school. I can't believe that after MLK Jr. did all of that about racism, you know, "all men are created equal", that people still don't get it. People just regard MLK Jr. as someone who lets them get a school day off. That's just sick. Sadly, no, I don't think racism will improve.
  6. racism is everywhere it is bad and i agree with you. i had a job that i was asst. bookkeeper for a large department store. for construction of elevators. i was heavy not very attractive. well i lost 20lbs. and i got demoted. because the men were distracted. i worked there two years. i quit go mad. that is not right. thanks laney
  7. im white ,,i get discriminated against everyday in southflorida because im not spanish or black but people think only white people are racist,,actually its only white people that are told to accept everyone else and to not have any groups or programs for just whites yet every other race does everything they can to seperate them selves from other races esp the white race and we call that a great thing its not just..one example ,altho there are millions,,ther is actually a miss black america ,could you imagine what would happen if we said there was going to be a miss white america or white music awards or white entertainment channel or white scolarships i could go on for hours on the amount of racist programs used by blacks right now
  8. I've experienced blatant racism many many times. It's a cowardly thing to do. I try to combat it whenever I find it. If each and every one of us tries to be tolerant of each other, eventually racism will be extinct. When you cut us-we all bleed red.
  9. yes, i am Irish, i moved to austrlaia it isnt bad rasism but i get paid out alot, and everyone assumes that im some kind of alchololic!
  10. Racism is ignorance and based on fear! The Bible says that anger does not serve God's purpose. Well anger is a form of fear and so is racism. This tells me that racism does not serve God's purpose nor anyone elses either!
  11. America was built on racism. Virtually wiping out the native Americans and enslaving the black/African Americans. Racism ensures that white people stay on top.
  12. Yeah. The worst case was from a prinicpal at a elemantary school in the Midwest back in the 80's. During recess, I busted a racist punk's lip for calling me a g00k. He then ran to the principal and snitched on me. The horrible biatch came and grabbed me by my arm really hard, yanked me like a rag doll and sprayed her coffee stained stank breath all over my face. She pretty much co-signed for the punk and endorsed me as a g00k by saying "well aren't you one?" after I answered her question as to why I busted the punk's lip. The experience left me sour for a long time because I went home and got can if whoop a$S from my parents for getting suspended from school. They were more concerned with me being suspended from school than they were about someone calling me a racist name. That really sucked donkey balls and left me bitter about going back to that same school and running into these racist a$$holes. So I started ditching and went fishing with other refugees along the Arkansas River instead. Then the school called and told my parent I haven't been showing up for school. This time economy size cans of whoop a$S was waiting for me at home. Even then I would just go to school and leave during morning recess to go to the river because there was no racism at the river. Just fishing. This went on until I finally transferred to another school. What really sucked was that the stank breath principal was never reprimanded for her behaviour and that type of stuff was not properly addressed back then. It did not help that my parents did not know much english either. Being a refugee, I did not trust white people for awhile after that. But after coming to California and meeting many good white people, that notion slowly faded away. Racism sucks!
