What percent of Americans work for the US government?

Including all federal jobs like the CIA, FBI, military, mail-people... everything.

  1. less than one. i'm betting,if you include contractors, more, but....i'd say that all of these people are the ones who believe in this country...the question could be veiwed as vague in some ways...because we all work for our country. it is based on faith...we have faith that our actions will make the world a better place...this is what defines us as americans.
  2. If we include all federal, state, and municipal employees, it's about 10% of the total population.
  3. Generally the elite group and scholars work for 32 to 41 percent work for the US Government. Others from onlty from 11 to 21 percent for the US government.

  5. teachers are also US government workers, because they get paid by US government, the number is close to 10%
  6. In all actuality, almost everyone! Unless you are Self Employed, just about everyone owes their lively hood to the Government (Federal, State or Local) either directly or more likely, indirectly.
