Federal employment opportunities for green card holders?
How difficult is it for legal alien green card holders to gain employment in the US federal government? I plan to emmigrate to the USA with my American wife and have been searching for jobs. A lot of jobs state eligibility requirements such as "Applications will be accepted from United States citizens" or "Current Agency employees " Is there any route for green card holders?

- Nope. If their eligibility requirements say you have to be a U.S. citizen, then no. See: http://www.opm.gov/ It appears that most, if not all, of the jobs listed on their website require one to be a U.S. citizen to work for the government. In fact, it's the very first "key requirement." It's not uncommon. Many of the postings say: "By law, employment at most U.S. Government agencies is limited to U.S. citizens." Search for a job that does not require you to be a U.S. citizen. Most jobs do not require U.S. citizenship but require you to be able to work in the U.S.
