Do I need to refile my federal taxes?

I had already filled out and sent in a tax return form for 2007. I only included one job on there, and that was the job I made $8000 at. I worked one job earlier in 2007 and made $824 total. I got the W-2 for the $824 job today and I had sent in my federal return about a week and a half ago but I had only included the job wherein I made $8000. Also bear in mind no money for federal taxes had been taken out of the $824 job, but some had been taken for Medicare and Social security. 1) Do I need to refile my federal taxes again in because of the W-2 for the job I did not include? 2) If I do not refile with the new W-2 included, will the IRS withhold my tax return or audit me?

  1. Wait till you get your refund and then file a 1040X to ammend the return. No biggie, it's just an amendment and it happns all the time.
  2. Please file amended returns for both federal and state. Mail your amended returns. :)
  3. go to IRS dot gov I think you can just do an amendment which is an add-on or call them. Yes now that you know your mistake...you can be fined and audited. One thing about IRS fines......it snowballs until you can't afford to pay anymore. If they've already sent check, don't spend it until you talk to them. What happened to you happens all the time.
