Does anyone know what the State and Federal tax percentages are for Texas?
I am from Texas and I am about to start my first job. I was wondering how much of my monthly pay check goes to the government (I guess just a total percentage) Thanks!

- Federal, same as other states. State, zero. No Texas income tax.
- Federal income tax rates are universal regardless of where you live. TX has no income tax so none will be withheld. Go here for some handy tax estimators: http://www.paycheckcity.com
- A ballpark figure is about 25% depending on your filing status. They take out income tax, social security tax,and medicare tax. Plus anything else you may be having withheld such as insurance payments, etc. A lot depends on your gross income and filing status.
- Hello, Texas does not have a state tax. The 2007 Federal Tax Rates can be found here: http://www.irs.gov/formspubs/article/0,,id=164272,00.html. These rates are separated by whether you are filing as Single, Married Filing Joint, Head of Household.
- Hi, It will depend on your filing status (Single, Married, etc) and how many dependents you claim for Federal Income Tax. You can plan on 7.65% deducted for Social Security and Medicaid. Easiest way to find the Federal Income tax amount is go to their website, www.irs.gov Congrats on the job.
- 7.65 for social security and medicare Federal depends on your income so not enough info Texas has no state income tax Go to paycheckcity.com and enter your info, and you'll get a pretty good estimate
- There no state income taxes taken out of your check for the State of Texas. Talk to your payroll clerk at work regarding your federal taxes.
- Fed is flat, for all states. Texas has NO state income tax. That's why we have such a high purchase tax, and an even higher tax on hotel rooms.
