Is it hard to get a job working for the federal government, I dont mean law enforcement or lawyers, like office work?

- Office work sometimes requires secret clearance which is an irrational means of hiring someone that needs a job right away. No secret clearance jobs do exist. Search here: http://www.usajobs.com
- Not if your an immigrant. minority, vet or disabled.
- It really depends on several factors, most importantly what part of the country you're in and what agency you apply to.
- It employs almost 2 million people, so I doubt it, but that statistic is skewed since so many jobs fall under Government classification. What exactly is it you want to do? Research the field and its requirements.
- I used to work for a temp agency and they used to send me to work for the Department of State at least once or twice a week. I never needed a security clearance, but they did have to verify all my information and give me a little ID card that always had to be visible before I could get past the front desk there. I was just a temp though, so I'm sure that actual employees need a background check and some level of security clearance. A good resume probably helps too.
