Are all Federal Government jobs boring?

I hate my job and am bored, but I like the salary and benefits. What do I do?

  1. I guess you could just keep doing it for the next 30 years and then go damn I just wasted my life.
  2. It is hard to answer that question with out knowing the position. I think a federal job as a park ranger in a National Park would be awesome. Maybe not challenging, but what a great job. A job working in an office as an accountant or something similar would be extremely boring. But any Federal job has great benefits and a pension. Most jobs in the private sector don't have pensions anymore. When you retire young, financially set you may realize how lucky you were to work for the government. BUT remember, there is more to life than money.
  3. Go to the federal job listing boards and see what other jobs in your grade are open/available. Might find something that sounds more interesting.
  4. Be glad you have a job at all. If there's another career you're interested in which isn't boring and is worth giving up a federal job, look into it. I'll be more than willing to take your Federal job after you're gone.
