Fema Employment

Are labor laws different between contractors and normal employees.?

I am a security officer working for a company that is protecting a federal building. My question is do we fall under normal employee laws or is there a excemption for contracted employment. I am located in texas

  1. You are an employee of your company. The building did not contract with you personally, but with the company, so you are a normal employee.
  2. You are an employee of the security company. The GSA has contracted with your employer to guard the building. You are neither a regular employee, NOR a contract employee, of the GSA - you are a regular employee of your employer. WHERE he has you working is irrelevant. Richard
  3. If it was me looking for this information I wouldn't be starting in an international forum, but the government in question's website.
  4. You fall under normal employment laws.
  5. Most likely your employer would be required to follow the same employment practices as anyone else. However, as you are working in a federal establishment, there may be specific legislation that can alter state and local employment law on a federal site.
