How is the iraq rebuilding going on by US government?
I read that still a very large number of iraqis do not have access to 24 hour water or electricity. Not much schools, hospitals have been built, and the roads also not been fixed much which were destroyed by bombings. The infrastructure of iraq is still weak. So when will US rebuild iraq completely? Nation-building is the main task for US now. And please, don't say that "it is not our job to fix iraq or rebuild it" It is US job because US decided to invade and occupy. That holds some moral obligations -- such as nation building.

- it's difficult to hold a hammer and an a-k 47 at the same time.
- You mean all that balkanization with the wall building and sectioning off and separating all the different religious sects and ethnic groups to keep them away from each other? That makes for a great nation and it's working real well.
- That's why our Cheney-influenced State Department hired Halliburton for...to rebuild what we blew down. They've gotten billions to do just that, but I read today about all of the high walls being built in Baghdad to keep the different sects separate. They're still killing each other, but it seems most of the fighting is going on between the Kurds and Turks in northern Iraq. Who knows? We are not getting much information about it.
- You sound like you're using Western standards to judge a country that only a few years ago was being systematically destroyed by a dictator. In many areas, Iraq has better infrastructure than it has ever seen.
- 4 Million Refugees and counting! That is how well the "rebuilding" (or lack thereof) is going.
- NO, its not the US' job to do nation building. Pull out and let the Iraqi's sort out themselves. Building infrastructure destroyed by the US invasion is viable and valid but as long as the US and their meagre allies persist in trying to run Iraq by setting up a bogus government, the bombings, killings and kidnappings will continue. The US should support Iraq with rebuilding by investment, not with so-called "nation building" which is just another term for occupation. Mahal: better infrastructure than they've ever seen? Man, where do you get your info, from you conservative, Bush-supporting military buddies and family?
