Help! I need advice changing careers on what jobs would be good to look into!?
I'm looking to change jobs. I currently work for the Federal Government, homeland security. I have experience in reading blueprints, locating, working for companies that deal with fiber optics and splicing. I do not have any specific certifications.I am currently completing my MBA in business. I enjoy mathmatics, but have never held a "desk" position. I travel right now two hours to work, and with the rise in gas prices, need something else. Since I have kids, I need something that can pay at least $50K, since I have a family. - How about contract adminstration and/or planning this way you could stay within the industry & once completed MBA decide which Management role would suit i.e. something accounts based or project management. I started with my present company about 8 years ago as Contract adminbstrator, completed a HNC in Building Studies, and decided to go the Quantity Surveyor route, only wished I done it sooner. I'm lucky because although based a head office I do get the opportunity to visit sites, therefore I have best of two worlds. The company I work for is smallish & in SW England the wages are below average, but money aint everything, and I certainly enjoy my job.
