- I you want to wear a gi, you're pretty much stuck with ninja as a profession.
- Well I'm not so sure why you are so keen on a government job, but that aside --- The GIS work that I've done is mostly a kind of advanced database mapping - and not creation of maps, mostly just loading precoded data into layers. Other parts of the organization created and maintained maps as part of engineering projects - this is where most of the GIS work out there is focused on. Think "mapping electrical conduits and structural elements". To understand who hires GIS professionals you should take a look at the federal job bank, Americas job bank and professional organizations that can give you details about where people have been placed after they have earned their certificate.
- i personely thing that if you want to mastering in GIS, you should work with private company instead of working with government. You can do a lot of job in GIS, no so much of converting or creating dataset but you can also do spatial analysis using GIS. Most of the people use GIS to assits them in planning and modeling. you may visit my site at http://www.cahaya2u.com for more details
