Why do you think America is falling as a superpower?

Please don't bother posting if you are going to confuse this with an anti-american rant. The biggest car companies are all JAPANESE, the economy is still down over a half million jobs since Bush took office. Where is the American hybrid car? Why do our consumers have to buy imports to get good gas mileage? Are we so dumb our American car companies simply can't figure out a gas-electric engine? Are we really that far behind? Why are we borrowing billions from China every month? Why are we cutting taxes during wartime? How can our millitary, the largest beneficiary of these chinese debts, as well as nearly 40% of our federal budget, be streched to the "breaking point"? Anyone else wonder how we can keep spending more and more cash for our millitary yet we lack the BASIC MANPOWER to keep Iraq secure? What is the cause of all these things?

  1. Excellent question. The simplest answer is that we are making the Empire a bigger priority than our country. Japan developed the hybrid with government help. We're afraid to have the government develop new technologies. Bush is cutting taxes during wartime so people think everything is okay. He'd rather ruin our economic future than give up his war for oil. Oh, by the way, guess what you don't need if everyone drives a hybrid or an electric car? Wars for oil.
  2. You have some great information, but it is incomplete, we are still the superpower. We are the strongest nation in the world and I can say we always will be. We control most of everything that occurs everywhere. Iraq is Bush and Haliburton's deal and of course we can't control it, it wasn't ever going to be controlled. Look at it like this, take a family that has lived in a cave for centuries, ok lets make them middle class in say 10 weeks and make them believe in christianity and our way of life too. Crazy huh? not going to happen/ Their beliefs are totally different from ours and they end discussions with killilng and wars. their way of life, America never wanted to go there in the first place and control them so don't say we failed. Bush failed. America has no desire to control another country. We have our own to deal with. Dude read a current newspaper that isn't a republican cheerleader paper. watch the national news. Get on the game man. Or move to a country where you think it's better and live for a year, come back after that and report to us how much better it is to live outside America.
  3. Because all empires eventually fall. Rome is a good example. The British empire fell. The Soviet empire fell. What goes up, must come down. It's the nature of things. Might make a smart person wonder why any country would try to start an empire in the first place.
  4. actually there ARE a few american hybrids, the Ford Escape being one. But I understand your point. I believe it was most of the American Car companies/oil companies that bought up all the patents for the electric vehicle to prevent it from being mass produced, because of the bite it would take out of the ICE (internal combustion engine) sales. Only now it's coming back to bite 'em in the ass (donkey hybrid). They are scrambling now, GM being at the top, to out-do the electric/hybrid by creating a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, they are dumping a ton of money into it as well, closing some plants and laying off tons of people to fund production that still won't be available to the public until about 2010/11. There IS a new car company that has an all electric truck that will be available to the public in 2008, Phoenix Motorcars, out of California...that crew cab will run you about $45,000. We are catching up slowly, but surely. It seems that our Japanese and European counterparts have just evolved a bit faster. As for our spending...whew! and they say democrats are big spenders. Well, when you fund a war with no clear plan...well it's like planting a garden with no plan...you end up going back the store a billion times to buy extra equipment that if you had planned better would not have been needed. I think liberals may spend a lot, but they spend money they have, not someone elses. I think that a military is necessary to keep ill-intentioned outsiders at bay, but I do not agree in going to war against an enemy we have no understanding of what they are capable of doing. It causes extra death and destruction, beyond that expected to occur. I think a paradigm shift is in order for our country--an evolution of thought- as it were.
  5. perhaps the answer is right b4 our eyes. that we are no longer the world superpower
  6. I can answer all your questions with just three words. NEW WORLD ORDER. Now go do some homework and see if you can work out which nations will lead this new world order and which ones will become controlled by it. By the way no points for guessing America.
  7. SOCIALISM
  8. Unions have destroyed the American car companies, and most companies that have moved over seas is due to government restrictions and regulations.
  9. "Profit for the wealthy before anything else" is the best way I can sum it up. They are the only ones to benefit from the various seeming contradictions you mention.
  10. income and asset disparity. the middle is stagnating and getting squeezed. other country's average income have caught up to ours, though we work longer and harder. Business leadership has no particular loyalty or love for America and Americans. There is too much "us" versus "them" between business and workers instead of stepping back and working together for long term. Endemic ignorance and misplaced pride, either willful or by being deceived
  11. No we are not failing, coz when we sneeze the whole word still catches cold
  12. This country is being deliberately broken down so that it can be built back up into something else: the NAU. Obviously too many people in this country would give up their liberty for 'security'. We've been in training for this for decades. And the worse things get the more people will cling to any hope offered. All of which is leading to the NWO. LOL! It's not like you are supposed to believe me. Don't worry. Everything will be okay.
  13. 1 word!!! LIBERALS
  14. Global over reach and our desire for world domination. The same thing happened to all previous super powers. Dutch in the 1700's, England and so on.
  15. Are you defining super power as not having enough hybrid cars? The unemployment in our country is 4.4%.More people are working than today than ever before. Super power? Yes we are still the ones that Iran, North Korea,China, Russia, and the rest of those who want us annihilated fear the most. If someone wants to attack us and start a war, you'll see if we are a depleted militarily or not. We are still the GREATEST country in the world, and the GREATEST super power !
  16. well i see it as a liberal rant.taxes cut means higher revenue. did you here about higher revenues. this isnt projected, it s collected revenue. as for military manpower, they want experienced boots on the ground, recruiting goals are being met and they always have been.because the american big 3 auto makers failed hit the hybrid market at the same time as japan doesnt make us any less of a superpower as it does make japan a superpower. you re dumb. please go away
  17. Liberal traitors are strangling America. They keep us hostage to foreign oil by not allowing us to develop domestic supplies. They lie and say tax rate cuts cost the government money when in fact rate cuts help the government get more money. They constantly try to demonize the soldiers that are fighting our islamofascist enemies. They lie and say we lack the "basic manpower" to "keep Iraq secure". No nation can survive when it is attacked so often from within.
  18. neocons are to greedy that's why we are failing, they prefer to use government money for war, instead of using it to invent better technology.Katie who's answer is above should know that the ford escape hybrid uses Toyota first generation hybrid technology to power it's car, Toyota is already on there third generation hybrid engine. In essence the ford car is using Japaneses technology.
  19. ------------- Calhoun, the Ford Escape does not depend on Toyota technology. This has been widely misreported. Ford and Toyota have an agreement to share licenses when their patents overlap. This is not the same thing as needing each other's patents. Ford did it's own hybrid R&D and deserves credit for it. * Despite Toyota, America does indeed have the lead in electric vehicle and battery technology. Look at this car: * http://phoenixmotorcars.com/models/fleet.html * The Phoenix electric pickup truck - using new, advanced Altair nanotech batteries (based on research from MIT) - can: -Travel up to 250 miles per charge -Carry 5 passengers plus cargo at 95mph. -Charges batteries in as little as TEN MINUTES. -Has batteries that last 250,000 miles (never need replacement.) * Here's another one, the Tesla electric sports car: * http://www.teslamotors.com * The Tesla can out-accelerate a Ferrari, and has a top speed of 130mph. It can also go 250 miles on one charge. Tesla is now setting up shop in Detroit, to build an electric family car. * So what will we do with this innovative technology? Will it be nurtured, or crushed by the usual suspects? I think the answer to this question has a lot to do with where America is headed. ----------------
