Do all federal IT jobs require security clearance? IT seems like the number of non-contractor IT jobs are increasing these days. Is this true? I see some positions that don't require security clearance. Is this this true? Anyone know if there's a change in the trend of IT outsourcing in the fed gov these days?
Leaving a county job for a federal job with Homeland Security? I've only been with the county for four months, but I have a meet and greet for a federal job. The pay is very similiar. Is a federal job that much better? I would feel bad leaving so soon but if the opportunity is better then I would. The new job is with the Department of Homeland Security.
Do I qualify for security clearance jobs in the federal Government? I just completed my HYTA status probation for retail fraud 2nd degree and would like to know if I still qualify for high security clearance jobs like within the Federal government like a special agent, FBI etc or military high security clearance jobs? I also had a juvenile case when I was 15 when I got into a fight in high school and got arrested. I never faced any legal sanctions for that case though, I just got a suspension from school. As far as I know, i have no criminal record because of HYTA
Transportation Security Officer (Federal Job)? Does the Transporation Security Administration adhere to the same hiring rules as any other federal government job? Or do they have different guidelines (besides needing a certain number of males/females for pat downs)? Any other info that you can share if you work for TSA? Thanks!
Know anything about federal jobs in small cities (maui)? I'm thinking about accepting a civilian federal job which involves strictly military-type work. its in a big city, but my problem is that i'm figuring that i will eventually want to relocate to a small area, such as maui, in perhaps 5-10 years. I understand that the biggest plus about federal jobs is the retirement security, so I would want to stay in federal for my entire career. Is transferring within federal depts easy to do? I see that although smaller areas will not have any military work, there should be post office and s.s. type of jobs...totally unrelated but potential options right?
federal jobs dealing with immigration? i was looking into working with immigration preferably law enforcement such as those at the airport not TSA. Preferably with the Department of Homeland Security. I was wondering if there are any jobs with translation and how to get them. Any federal job. Thanks
Canada, federal government security clearance, is there any time limit for new Immigrants to get it? As an immigrant of Canada, do I have the federal government security clearance? If not, is there any time limit to get it? I am new immigrant to Canada, there is a job opportunity which needs federal security clearance. When I told the job agency, that I am a new immigrant, they said I would have been stayed in the country for 5 years, to get the clearance. Is it true? What exactly is the time limit to get the clearance? Thanks for your response Jim. I am looking for a job in Information Technology. Couple of job agencies approached me regarding some job opportunities (which need federal clearance), when I told them that I do not have the clearance currently and I am a new immigrant, they are not continuing the discussion. Is it not that the employer is going to get the clearance for me if I get selected? I thought clearance is not that something that one can get on his/her own, the recruiting organization has to do, isn’t it? How come I am being asked if I already have clearance? What would I say if someone asks me if I have federal clearance? I appreciate your help. Thanks Tadepalli
Immigration effects my social security, can i sue the federal government? I am an American citizen born and raised here , paid my taxes and I retired about 4 years ago and now receive a very moderate s.s. check. I was in construction and had planned on doing small jobs to help with my finances. As everyone knows, due to immigration, there are no small jobs to be had. I feel the government owes me some kind of extra help other than social security. What are my chances of getting a law suit against the gov. or are they exempt.
How do I locate my security clearance? While in the military, I received notice that I was holding a security clearance. Upon separation, I never received a paper copy of what sort of clearance that was. Does anyone know how I can find what my clearance is or what is needed when applying for federal jobs that require one?
As the Ameican Economy degenerates, more jobs are lost and services cut will Federal Prison become a viable? career move for many young Americans? Federal Prison offers a variety of education programs from college classes to trade schools. For example, I learned to be an electrician and also earned a BA in Philosophy while there. And they have very good medical and dental care. Also, for those with an interest in Finance, the Minimum Security Prisons located in Atlanta an especially the one located at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Al provides a unique opportunity for aspiring bankers to learn the tricks of the trade.
Federal Jobs Question? Navy Vet 6 Years Electronics background what could I apply for? I spent 6 years in the Navy and I now work in the security field as a Field Service Tech. My wife is wanting to move back to the DC area and I was looking at federal jobs. The thing is I have no clue what I should apply for. Everyone I talk to recommends to apply if your a veteran. She is also retired navy due to medical. We both get the points. I get 5 she gets 10. I have physical security training from the navy and I also worked as an electronics tech on weapon systems. My wife has a office type background currently working the real estate industry. So my question is if you were moving back to the DC area what jobs should we be looking for Federal wise and what kind of pay can you expect starting off? We are wanting to move in the next year and any advice would be great. Thank you for your time. Jason Z.

What can I deduct from my taxes? I work really hard and have two jobs. Last year I have received $1500 back from my taxes. Unfortunately I have nothing to deduct (I think) and this year I am about to get $150. I paid over $12,000 in federal tax, social security and medicare and was looking to get just little bit more that $150 dollars. I do have a car (my montly payments are $500). Can I deduct these? What about gas? I do use my car to get to work. What about clothes for my job? Can I deduct my lunches?
Are federal government jobs outside of DC dead end? I am a 23 year old male who is a Geographic Specialist and I work in a federal government agency in Chicago. I have been there for a year and am wondering if federal jobs outside of Washington DC are dead end? I kind of get that vibe at my work-it seems like 10 years from now Id be in the same position maybe making 15K a year more at the absolute most. If I move to DC though, I don’t know if it would be worth it with the cost of real estate in the area. At this point I’m not sure if I should stay in the public sector for the security, deal with the slow growth, and have to face the likely possibility of having to move to DC, or switch to the private sector. I know I am in a pretty specific line of work now, but I think I can compare the work I’ve done to different fields with my resume, and explain that at interviews. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Did I screw up on my tax return? I e-filed my tax return and my roommate thinks that I screwed up. My roommate had his parents e-file his, and he ended up owing money. I had 2 jobs, and made over 18,000 last year; and had over 2,800 with held in total from all taxes (federal, social security, and medicare) from both of my jobs. I'm getting about 500 back in total from state and fed tax. Does that seem like an accurate refund? (ps- i file single, and have no dependents)
Was the ACLU correct about the FBI and Homeland Security Powers and the abuse that would follow? Republicans and Democrats alike sternly warned the FBI on Tuesday that it risks losing its broad power to collect telephone, e-mail and financial records to hunt terrorists because of rampant abuses of the authority. The ACLU warned about this 3 years ago. The threats were the latest blow to the embattled Justice Department and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, who is already on the defensive and fighting to keep his job over the firings of federal prosecutors. The warnings came as the department's chief watchdog, inspector general Glenn A. Fine, told the House Judiciary Committee that the FBI engaged in widespread and serious misuse of its authority to issue national security letters, which resulted in illegally collecting data from Americans and foreigners. The ACLU stated "We told you so". Bush and supporters should feel ashamed.
question about security guard jobs? im license as a security guard i have the 8/16 hr certificate and when i call up to apply for a job they tell me i need federal training what is federal training?
Does joining the peace corps prevent you from getting a federal job? Does joining the peace corps prevent you from getting a federal job? I heard that after being a volunteer in the Peace Corps you are disqualified from attaining a security clearance and therefore ineligible for many types of federal employment and military service. I'm asking because I would like to join the FBI after my service.
Joining the Marines AFTER becoming a Police Officer? I know the federal law that provides job security for Police Officers with prior service commitments, but I was wondering how it would work if I wanted to go reserve or possibly active in the USMC after being hired? I have no prior military history. Would it be shunned? Could I be fired? Would it depend on the department? So would I be able to go Reserve USMC say after about 1 year into my career?
Would you resign from a federal government job you just started ?? I did an accounting internship over the summer, but the pay and hours were to low for me to live off of. After trying to find an accounting entry-level job for several months without any luck, I applied for a GS-5 government job and accepted the offer. After just one week in, I'm starting to feel like this was a bad move. I really miss the accounting work like I did on my internship. This job has nothing to do with my major and there is no accounting department that I can possibly move to. I'm basically moving heavy boxes and files all day. Everyone around me seems to think I've hit the jackpot by getting into the government. Is landing a gov. job the only way to a secure future? Benefits, security, and retirement....but what about my happiness? This week has been rough. My mother says put my happiness to the side, and just do the (*$*! job.. "nobody likes their job" according to her. I'm not planning on leaving until I find a job in accounting. What do you think?
Help! I need advice changing careers on what jobs would be good to look into!? I'm looking to change jobs. I currently work for the Federal Government, homeland security. I have experience in reading blueprints, locating, working for companies that deal with fiber optics and splicing. I do not have any specific certifications.I am currently completing my MBA in business. I enjoy mathmatics, but have never held a "desk" position. I travel right now two hours to work, and with the rise in gas prices, need something else. Since I have kids, I need something that can pay at least $50K, since I have a family. Thank you in advance for your help!
What do local and federal governments do about a John or Jane Doe? What do local, state, and federal governments do about John and Jane Doe's who are over the age of 18, with say no memory who have been evaluated by a psychiatrist and medical team(with no present mental defect, and maybe minor medical problems, or even something a bit larger like onset diabetes), do they create an identity or them beyond John or Jane, do they give them social security, job placement etc? Thanks.
Am I limited to becoming a cop with a Criminal Justice Degree? I am a criminal Justice major in NYC, and am noticing that the deans and faculty are trying to push all of the students to join the NYPD, instead of seeking a federal job. My heart is really set, however, on a federal job like the ATF, Secret Service, or FBI, but i hear they are very selective and hard to get in. Do most Criminal Justice majors simply become police officers, or do many move on to Federal jobs, or private security?
Can I renege on a conditional job offer with the Federal Government? I just received a conditional job offer with the federal govt. the job is good, but the pay is a little less than what I am making now. I think it will be at least 6 months before I can actually start at the new job - the thing is, I'm really interested in the job as a contingency, in case I lose my current job. Could I accept the conditional job offer, and later say "no thanks" to the govt. once my security clearance and health check are complete?
why cant i get a security clearance if i have bad credit? I want to get a federal job and was told by my peers that if you have bad credit then dont apply. Is this true? is there any way to work around this problem? And what happens if you dont recall all the jobs you had for the past 10 yrs?
What is the best degree concentration for a federal government job? I still have a bunch of GI Bill tuition assistance laying around and am looking to finish my bachelors degree. I came across an online school checked accreditation, read a lot of reviews, and it checks out. The school offers three concentrations for their Bachelor of Science: Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism Studies, Management of Personal Protection, and Intelligence Management. The job i would like to do is dealing with personal security details, but in the long run what do you think would be the best concentration for a job with the CIA.
Can you help me figure out some other job options? My father is looking for a job. He is in his early 50's. He has worked as Correctional Officer for 20 years and he got fired. He has training in security monitoring and has experience investigating gangs. Besides security guards and other federal jobs, what other job options does he have?
Federal security guards? I work next door to a Federal Court House. There are men in dark suits that sit in the foyer area of the court house all the time. I see them everyday because they are housed with the Post Office. Are these guys Federal Marshals? What do they do? I know they carry weapons because I have seen them. Just wondered what their job description would be.

What kind of Security Clearance Would i Expect with a Internship? Hey I have an interview for an internship with this company that has a federal site. The job description says "This position requires onsite work at restricted federal government facilities and as a result, U.S. Citizenship is a requirement of the job." I would be a business/systems(operations) Engineering Intern for them. I was just wondering what kind of security clearance I would expect to get? confidential? or Secret? thanks again for any insight.
I have an interview with a FEDERAL GOVMNT AGENCY on Monday- What should I wear- I am a female? Hello, I have an interview with a government agency in the area of security on Monday. I don't really know what to expect or wear! I was thinking about wearing a suit dress or should I wear a pantsuit? Do you know what the interview may be like? Maybe what questions to be ready to answer? I really want/need this job so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time!
Temp agency I worked for forged my signature on a federal security background check!!? I applied for a job through the government, but was employed with a temp agency. I filled it out and then found they had no more positions. Months later the temp agency informed me they had openings, and i was hired a few months later. Well after reviewing my paper work a couple weeks later with a random interviewer for the Federal government, it was found that alot of the signatures were not mine, and the dates were that of three months later!! I was told that i could fill out the pages again with the correct signature and submit it again. i informed the temp agency and redid teh papers. Three days later i was told that the temps were no longer needed and i was laid off. Come to find out it was just me. And this was 3 days after they were contacted about the forgery. I havent been contacted for a job from them sense. Do I have legal rights here? I am broke because of it!!
How much State and Federal tax is being taken out of my check? I live in New York and I just started a new job for 2 months. It's a salaried job, paying $7000 for the first month and $2000 for the second. I would like to know how much state and federal they would take out my first check of $7000. Also, how much social security? I only filed for myself and I have no withholding allowances being taken out of my check. If someone can help me out with this, it would be great. Thank You!!!
TSA part time screener jobs? TSA seems pretty hard up to keep their screening stations staffed. There are newspaper ads, job fairs going on...pretty serious hiring push it seems I'm wondering, are these PT screener jobs total dead end positions? could you maybe move to full time or supervisor roles if you did a good job and hung around for a while? I'm interested in TSA and homeland security jobs and seeing how so many other federal positions seem to take forever to hear back on/get hired I was thinking of doing a screener job in the meantime. what do you think?
Where do I apply for a union job? How do I join a union in CA? I am currently looking for a job in Orange County with the security that a job with union membership provides. Anybody with info please pass it along, I will be most grateful. Any open local, civic or federal goverment positions too. Was recently layed off from the mortgage industry as a loan processor. Thank you.
How do state and federal income taxes work? I am 16, live in Michigan, and recently started working my first real job. On my most recent paycheck over half of it went to Federal Income taxes, State Income taxes, Social Security taxes, and Medicare taxes. Does this sound right?
Can I get an FBI security clearance on my own? I work in the IT field and there are more job opportunities and more marketable with an FBI security clearance. I have worked in a temporary government position (not federal) and I passed a FBI background check. I have one PI from 2004 that was deferred then dismissed that I'm trying to get expunged currently. Is this possible and if anyone knows, how do you go about this? Thanks!
I am 69 and have been receiving federal workmens comp. for 10 years, can I receive social security also.? My doctor stated that the federal government should have put me in retirement many years ago. I have 10+ years of federal service before I was injured on the job. Even through I am 69 I have never applied for SS. If I applied for SS the wokmens comp. benefit would be reduced by that amount. How much longer will I be able to receive workmans comp ? Where do I go from hear. I can not find out anything regarding this matter from the government. Do you know where I can get answers to my problems ?
Do 16 Year Olds Have To File Income Tax? If you work full time in the summer, and after school and on weekends during the school year, do you have to personally file income tax, or does the job that hires you automatically deduct all that from your salary? Also, with income tax in general, after the job takes out federal tax and social security, etc... do you then pay income tax on your total profit, or what you made in total?
How do promotions in the federal government work? I was offered a GS-5 level job, but I have my Masters, which USA JOBS says qualifies for a GS-9. The thing is, with this economy, I would gladly take this GS-5 position. My concern however, is that the woman interviewing me said that I wouldn't be eligible to apply to positions above a GS-5 for at least one year. Is this true? Why wouldn't I be able to apply just like anyone else if I am qualified? She said something about a bill or policy is in the works to change that though. Does anyone know more about this or where I can research it. My concern is that I will be stuck at a GS-5 for a year, when I am qualified to do so much more. It's just this economy sucks and I am 24, with very little real work experience - this is the only decent offer I have right now (considering stability and health insurance etc) Also I always thought once in the federal government, its easier to get federal jobs with status candidate only jobs etc. Plus I thought current federal employees get preference. Is this true that it is easier to get other federal jobs, once you are in the federal system? I would love any advice- thank you. P.S. the job is with the social security administration if that helps Thanks again!
why are my social security wages more than my normal wages? I'm trying to figure out how I paid $867.24 to socical security tax W/H out of $13,987.76 Socical security wages, when my total wages for the year, as stated on my W2, was listed as $12,427.76 with federal income tax W/H of only $302.00. Also, the W2 from my other job (which was held for part of the year) is showing the same scenario. How can my W2 list my SS wages as higher then my total wages?
Do Employers Outright Reject Applicants with Federal Misdemanors? I have had some trouble lately trying to get a job. I've applied with an airline, a number of security companies, etc. Only, I never get an interview. I submit well-written, concise, and effective resumes. I make sure to spend time representing myself well on applications. I am pleasant to speak with and charismatic when I come to apply. I put my social security number on these applications, and soon after get a rejection notice for no good reason-- no call, no interview, no nothing. Could this have anything to do with some Federal misdemeanors I have on my record? I participated in some peaceful protests a little over a year ago. I was charged with disorderly conduct at the United States Air Force Academy for making a speech. I was later arrested at West Point for even entering campus property to protest, and charged with entering a military base for unlawful purposes. Do employers look at this? Am I in a pickle?
I have 2 jobs, they are both considered full time, my primary employment being with a large company? And my second job I am self employed. I usually come pretty close to 40 or more hours a week on my second job. What I am not sure about is I want to hold back enough Federal & State taxes so that I don't end up paying at the end of the year, but I don't want a large refund either. I am one who likes to have their money weekly. None of that refund stuff for me. I want my money now. My employer deducts Fed, state, local, medicare & social security so will I have to do that with my SE taxes as well or will I be pretty much covered? And I find many calculators but none where I can use both employer taxes and SE taxes? Any suggestions? Anyone know of any loopholes I can look into. I have 3 children and I take care of a disabled aunt as well. Okay, to clarify this alittle more. I am both self employed and I work for a large firm. I know that when you work for someone else, your employer matches a portion of your tax deductions. When you are self employed you have to pay those yourself. I would like to be able to fix it so that my employer is paying my taxes and on my self employed job, I don't have to pay as much taxes without oweing a lot at the end of the year. Is that alittle clearer?

How do you like this Social Security Admin. Report: Bush Administration Guilty of Hiring Illegal Aliens ? Social Security Admin. Report: Bush Administration Guilty of Hiring Illegal Aliens If President Bush is serious about getting tough on U.S. employers who hire illegal aliens, he can start with his own administration, which employs thousands of unauthorized workers, says the top Republican on the House immigration subcommittee. A 2006 audit showed federal, state and local governments are among the biggest employers of the half-million persons in the U.S. illegally using "non-work" Social Security numbers — numbers issued legally, but with specific instructions that the holders are not authorized to work in the U.S. "Let's clean up our own house, let's especially clean up the federal employment of all those working for the federal government," said Rep. Steve King, Iowa Republican and ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee's immigration subcommittee. The Social Security Administration used to, but no longer does, issue non-work numbers to legal aliens who were not authorized to work but needed a number to obtain a federal or state benefit or service. Still, hundreds of thousands of those immigrants used the numbers to get a job. According to the 2006 audit by the Social Security inspector general, 17 of the 100 worst employers using employees with non-work numbers were government agencies: seven federal agencies, seven state agencies and three local governments. That means the government knows who those employees are, but usually does not go after them. Earlier this month, Homeland Security and Commerce departments announced a new crackdown on illegal entry that includes stricter enforcement against employers. The departments said they will encourage businesses to use E-Verify to check employees' Social Security numbers, and said the federal government will write new rules requiring all private contractors and vendors that do business with it to use E-Verify. Under current law, neither business nor federal agencies are required to use E-Verify, formerly known as the Basic Pilot Program. Mr. King said the administration shouldn't wait for new rules to begin checking federal employees against the non-work list. http://washingtontimes.com/apps/pbcs...108230096/1001
Is it right for Federal judge to tell SSA it has no right? To contact employers if social security # doesnt match employee? Isnt the federal govt. telling illegals its ok to break into our country and then steal someones identity as long as it gets you a job. I have always heard that stealing someones identiy was against the law so whats going on?
What does it feel like to loose your job cause your gay? DADTDPDH is a ban on lesbians, gays and bisexuals serving in the military – similar to the policies banning service that have been in place for the past fifty years. DADTDPDH is the only law in the land that authorizes the firing of an American for being gay. There is no other federal, state, or local law like it. Indeed, DADTDPDH is the only law that punishes gays, lesbians, and bisexuals for coming out. Many Americans view DADTDPDH as a benign gentlemen’s agreement with discretion as the key to job security. That is simply not the case. An honest statement of one’s sexual orientation to anyone, anywhere, anytime may lead to being fired.
Poll: Whats the best profession in the US, and why? Briefly say why this job is so wonderful. Example: POSTAL WORKER No higher education or special training required $50k+ a year 4 wks Annual Leave, and 2 wks Sick Leave a year Union protected rights and job security Federal benefits, and retirement
Am I considered an independent contractor or an employee? Ok I have a new question for ya'll. I am considering the idea of hiring a attorney on a problem that I am having. The problem is that my boss calls us independent contractors, and pays non of our taxes. Instead we are suppossed to pay our taxes at the end of they year with a 1099 form and we dont get or use a w-2. The problem is that I think I am a employee and not an IC. He tells me when to be a work, where to do my work, how to do my work, and when to stop working. He provided a traing class for me and the others instructing us on how to do the job, the way he wanted it done. Now I thought that an IC gets to set their own schedule, doesnt work when they dont want to, and they are doing the job the way that they want to. He pays us with a buisness check, like cash, pays none of our taxes, such as social security, or federal, and he made us sign only one document at the time of hire. That was a document waiving our right to workmans comp. What do you all think? IC or employee in AZ?
How will a DUI affect my chances of getting a government job? I got a DUI when I was 19, nearly 7 years ago...haven't messed up since except for a few speeding tickets, etc..... I'm trying to get into a government job, preferably federal... nothing requiring too high of a security clearance. what are my chances? will this hurt me more in just getting accepted for the job, or if I can get the clearance will that be the only big hurdle...?
Federal Job Question? Does anyone know what is the job title called for the passport inspector at the airport when you enter United State? I tried Custom Agent, Passport Inspector, and Immigration Officer, they all come out false. Please Help !!!! Thanks.
What is the best road to federal law enforcement? I am in The USAF dep. I have not recieved a job yet and I put security forces as my first selection. I am joining the air force for a few reasons including to serve my country and to gain some discipline. The main reason is for experience to get me into federal law enforcement like the FBI. My issue is that the security forces afsc only requires a 33 general asvab score and I scored a 77 overall score. I still have a chance to change my job. Would security forces be good for me or should I look into another afsc? If yes, then what other afsc can help me with law enforcement?

Do you think the Las Alamos nuclear lab might be a job illegal immigrants would be advised NOT to work at? http://www.lcsun-news.com/latest/ci_6884618 "LOS ALAMOS, N.M. — Three illegal immigrants who used fake documents to try to get badges that would let them work on a construction job at Los Alamos National Laboratory have been turned over to federal immigrant agents. Security officers were suspicious of documents presented to the lab's badge office Wednesday by the three men from Mexico, and faxed the documents to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Albuquerque. ICE officials confirmed that the documents presented by the men were false. Lab security officers contacted local police, who escorted the trio off lab property and held them for immigration authorities. Police said it's a federal offense to falsify identity to federal agencies." What do you think? sorry - Los Alamos
Employer issued 1099 for my daughter and did not withhold medicare, FICA, or Federal. Is this allowed? My daughter said she was not ever given a pay stub and just paid outright. Is this legal, and how can it be? I told my daughter that she needs to look for a different afterschool job because she has a tax burden and social security and medicare HAVE to be paid. Do we need to contact the SSA and see what needs to be paid, and doesn't her employer HAVE to pay a portion? I don't see how they can fall into a category that makes its employees all "self-employed" because it is a private afterschool program. Is it legal if employees do not make more than a certain amount and if so, what is that amount? Thanks fot your help. This means that my daughter will not receive a refund this year, but will owe, which is CRAZY since she is a full-time student.
federal government? correct me if i am wrong, but isn't the federal government's job to protect america and her interests from terrorism? if so, then why the hell are the giving out welfare and social services. they have gotten in business they should be out of. They should be monitering terrorists and updating security.

Seeking information from former Peace Corps Volunteers...? I've been greatly interested in joining the Peace Corps after obtaining a B.A. degree in Cultural Anthropology this coming December. I've checked out the website in depth and am pretty much set on applying. First I was hoping some former volunteers could honestly share their experiences with P.C. b/c so far I've only gained insight from those who now directly work for them. I was also wanting to check about a few things: Is health care provided (as in financially covered) by P.C. while you're serving? Upon returning, did anyone have any issues such as not being able to get security clearance for a federal job and whatnot? Finally, for those who had parents who didn't really want them to join, how did you deal with that? Thank you to anyone who can give info about this. I'm about 97% determined to volunteer, but would love to hear from volunteers and have those last couple of concerns I have cleared up. Thanks! : ) oh yeah, also I was wondering if any volunteers traveled (or were even able to travel) to other regions surrounding where they were serving during their time off. That was something I am really interested in doing, but wasn't sure if it is something that many do or do problems come up with trying to travel to other places?
i am trying to obtain a career in law enforcement. will an entry level separation hold me up? the ELS was from the marine corps. it was 8 years ago and was for failure to disclose prior service marijuana use. i failed the uranlysis and was sent home with eligibility to re-enlist in two years. i also have a summary offense ticket from that same year. since then i have enrolled in a municipal police academy(one at your own expense with no guaranteed job afterwards, you only receive cert. to become a police officer if hired), been employed as a correctional officer, an armed security officer subcontracted by federal government, and held numerous other armed security jobs and certifications/liscensures. i have also avoided any kind of trouble since 2000, not even traffic tickets. i am just wondering what kind of chance i have in succeding. i am looking for awensers from police officers but mainly background investigators who may come across this question. HELP!!
Social Security and I-9.? I have been working in a student assistant job for almost half a year now and they are taking out taxes for federal and state but, have yet to take out for Social security or medicare. I have another job outside of school and they take withholding out for everything. Is there another form I can fill out to have them withold for social security and why aren't they doing this in the first place? I am going to talk to them today. I am a native U.S. citizen and I filled out an I-9 where I stated that. But, If they have mistakenly classified me as a foreign student then how do I pay the social security witholding they did not take out for my previous pay checks? I made about 5,000 dollars.
How come my federal taxes are messed up? Alright heres the deal im 17 live in michigan and i need to know how much federal taxes i have to pay because i got my W2 and my job has not been taking out like any money for federal taxes but alot for social security and state taxes. I claimed 1 on my taxes but they still should pay the majority of my taxes i dont make much either about 40-50 bucks every 2 weeks. My total wages were about 2,000 dollars this year and they only took like 30 dollars for federal taxes
Do I need to refile my federal taxes? I had already filled out and sent in a tax return form for 2007. I only included one job on there, and that was the job I made $8000 at. I worked one job earlier in 2007 and made $824 total. I got the W-2 for the $824 job today and I had sent in my federal return about a week and a half ago but I had only included the job wherein I made $8000. Also bear in mind no money for federal taxes had been taken out of the $824 job, but some had been taken for Medicare and Social security. 1) Do I need to refile my federal taxes again in because of the W-2 for the job I did not include? 2) If I do not refile with the new W-2 included, will the IRS withhold my tax return or audit me?
Federal Grand Juries are begining to convict those who aid and harbor illegal aliens. Is this a good thing? According to the article, she was convicted in a jury trial and can get 10 years in federal prison without possibility of parole. Is this a step in the right direction? A federal jury has convicted a Monett woman for harboring and hiring illegal immigrants employed at a Barry County poultry processing plant raided by federal authorities last May. Jurors on Jan. 15 found Dora Ruiz, 33, guilty of harboring an illegal alien and inducing an illegal alien to enter or reside in the United States, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office news release. Ruiz formerly worked in the human resources department at George’s Processing Inc. plant in Butterfield, north of Cassville. George’s is based in Springdale, Ark. On May 22, about 100 officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Social Security Administration Office of Inspector General, U.S. Marshals Service and the Missouri Highway Patrol served search warrants at the plant in connection with an investigation into alleged identity fraud and employment of illegal immigrants. Officers arrested 136 people believed to be in the country illegally; 28 were later criminally charged with immigration and identity theft offenses. Evidence at the trial indicated that Ruiz assisted George’s employees by completing their Employment Eligibility Verification I-9 forms and translating from English to Spanish. Prosecutors said that Ruiz knew many employees were illegal immigrants who used fraudulently obtained Social Security numbers and identity documents in order to get jobs at the plant. Another former George’s HR employee – 23-year-old Sinthia Valadez-Ramirez – also pleaded guilty Jan. 8 to aiding and abetting others to commit aggravated identity theft, according to the release. “These convictions mark an important development in our continued commitment to pursuing employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens,” John Wood, U.S. attorney for the Western District of Missouri, said in the release. Under federal statutes, Ruiz faces a sentence of up to 10 years in federal prison without parole. http://www.sbj.net/article.asp?aID=11569519.5120355.1041131.4577099.775411.795&aID2=80078 I can already tell I'm going to have a very difficult time picking a best answer. There are just so many good ones here.
seeking a trade job paid by cash only, no paperwork, help? I do not seek employment. employment is a job where you receive federal social security benefits which I do not want. I am looking for a trade where you only get paid in cash, and there is not paperwork with your name on them for the job. some labor job. a job a can learn and it takes some skill in doing. even stuff like construction, what are some good jobs I could seek out that are "under the table"? I am out of "the system", no birth certificate, SS#, driver's license, address, no bank account, nothing to my name. please help. any real suggestions are greatly appreciated. and please don't give advice such as fill out online surveys or some crap. tell me about trades I can do for cash, trades in which I use my hands and it requires some skill that I can learn without formal education. I don't need anything from anyone else except my faith in God. don't give me BS about I need to do this and that, I am asking for help and you people just give me non- answers. if you're not going to help me with this question, please go away. if you could help me, I would greatly appreciate it. I cannot recieve any intangibles nor any priveleges, I only have inherent God - given rights, such as the right to travel on the common ways, no one can baby me and say I do not have my rights. I also have the God -given right to be in complete control of what I earn by my own sweat. if you think otherwise, you are probably a communist.
federal background check? A job I interviewed with performs a federal background check prior to employment. What exactly shows up on it? It's for top security clearance at Department of Homeland Security..specifically, could they/would they look up things such as online accounts/memberships? As in yahoo! answers, and, ...other sites
Security Clearance for Past Marijuana Use? Early on in college, I used pot 4-5 times. This was about 4 years ago now. I have stellar grades, great credit, and not so much as a parking ticket on my record. I'm applying for an intern job just for the summer with a federal agency that requires background checks and made me fill out the SF-86. It isn't the DOJ, DoD, CIA, or any agency thought to be dealing only with the national security. What are my odds here of getting the clearance? It's kind of late, so I'm hoping I get the interim (nothing else will turn up when they do the full investigation). Should I start looking for another job this summer? Thanks.
Mexico Works to Bar Non-Natives From Jobs someone else said they dont well read this? this article was taken from todays yahoo news MEXICO CITY - If Arnold Schwarzenegger had migrated to Mexico instead of the United States, he couldn't be a governor. If Argentina native Sergio Villanueva, firefighter hero of the Sept. 11 attacks, had moved to Tecate instead of New York, he wouldn't have been allowed on the force. ADVERTISEMENT Even as Mexico presses the United States to grant unrestricted citizenship to millions of undocumented Mexican migrants, its officials at times calling U.S. policies "xenophobic," Mexico places daunting limitations on anyone born outside its territory. In the United States, only two posts — the presidency and vice presidency — are reserved for the native born. In Mexico, non-natives are banned from those and thousands of other jobs, even if they are legal, naturalized citizens. Foreign-born Mexicans can't hold seats in either house of the congress. They're also banned from state legislatures, the Supreme Court and all governorships. Many states ban foreign-born Mexicans from spots on town councils. And Mexico's Constitution reserves almost all federal posts, and any position in the military and merchant marine, for "native-born Mexicans." Recently the Mexican government has gone even further. Since at least 2003, it has encouraged cities to ban non-natives from such local jobs as firefighters, police and judges. Mexico's Interior Department — which recommended the bans as part of "model" city statutes it distributed to local officials — could cite no basis for extending the bans to local posts. After being contacted by The Associated Press about the issue, officials changed the wording in two statutes to delete the "native-born" requirements, although they said the modifications had nothing to do with AP's inquiries. "These statutes have been under review for some time, and they have, or are about to be, changed," said an Interior Department official, who was not authorized to be quoted by name. But because the "model" statues are fill-in-the-blanks guides for framing local legislation, many cities across Mexico have already enacted such bans. They have done so even though foreigners constitute a tiny percentage of the population and pose little threat to Mexico's job market. The foreign-born make up just 0.5 percent of Mexico's 105 million people, compared with about 13 percent in the United States, which has a total population of 299 million. Mexico grants citizenship to about 3,000 people a year, compared to the U.S. average of almost a half million. "There is a need for a little more openness, both at the policy level and in business affairs," said David Kim, president of the Mexico-Korea Association, which represents the estimated 20,000 South Koreans in Mexico, many of them naturalized citizens. "The immigration laws are very difficult ... and they put obstacles in the way that make it more difficult to compete," Kim said, although most foreigners don't come to Mexico seeking government posts. J. Michael Waller, of the Center for Security Policy in Washington, was more blunt. "If American policy-makers are looking for legal models on which to base new laws restricting immigration and expelling foreign lawbreakers, they have a handy guide: the Mexican constitution," he said in a recent article on immigration.
Replacement Social Security Card never received.? I started a new job in Sept and was required to show my social security card. I had lost my social security card and provided a receipt that showed I was being sent a replacement. I was supposed to show that card within 90 days. My employer just informed me today that I have until the 6th of Dec to show an original card. I was told according to federal law my employer will have no choice but to terminate my employment if an original card is not provided. I applied for a replacement card, but never received it in the mail. Is there a way to get an extension on the 90 day period? Does anyone know what the federal law is? It is not going to be possible for me to show my social security card the replacment got lost in the mail.
Will selective enforcement of our laws will kill this country? Do Illegal aliens steal identities 2 get jobs? http://www.recordnet.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061126/A_BIZ/611260302 Why Doesn't Cardinal Roger Mahoney, Cardinal MCCarrick and Archbishop Wilton Gregory make their Social Security Numbers available to all of the illegal aliens to facilitate the illegal alien job requirements? Is using stolen SS#--felony social security fraud ? Does stolen SS# belongs to someone else--felony identity theft? 2 federal felonies that are committed by MILLIONS of illegal aliens. Federal tax? I have a temporary job that has 2 month length period. I file my tax in Texas. Status married and 1 allowance. I have question about Federal tax. I have paycheck per 2 weeks. Why sometimes in my paycheck the company i work for does not take out my wages for Federal tax? Is that normal and common? They sometimes just took it for Social security and medicare taxes?
Jobs inolving IT and Law enforcement? Hi all, I have a B.S. in IT, currently I work doing stuff mostly involving web development but I also manage servers/security and such. I have a pretty decent knowledge of networks etc.. Here's the problem. To be honest I'm getting a little bored sitting behind a desk coding. In the back of my mind I've always wanted to do IT field work. I think I would really enjoy working alongside law enforcement(probably a federal agency) and helping them from a technical aspect. Does this specific type of job exist? Is it intel gathering, surveillance(which I heard was really boring), or what? If there is a specific job that fits this, what type of qualifications are required? I don't want to shoot anyone or be shot at lol jk but I would like to be out there helping. Thanks all. -signed, in need of some excitement.

I applied for disability benefits in 2006 since I lost my job due to disabilities, not being able to perform the duties neccessary to keep my job or any other job I had had in the past.Took months Got Denied.Took more months had a small hearing Got Denied.Found out Social Security did not reguest ALL of my medical records for a WHOLE YEARS WORTH so I found an attorney I can not afford that told me this is probably why I got the denials all along. Now because of me they have my Records! No attorney in the valley area will do Federal claims for this so Milwaukee is the place I went. Why must there be so many games being played here for people like me who want to work but now unable to? Why must the government keep playing with the lifes of any of us and take the neccessary things away from us when we are in need? Lost everything.Nowhere else to go. I am waiting again for over 2 years. Me and my 3 girls are still suffering.Living with a roommate so we dont qualify for Welfare. What is next?

Changed the tone in the White House, restoring HONOR and DIGNITY to the presidency. 2. Has reintroduced the mention of God and faith into public discourse. 3. Handled himself with enormous courage, dignity, grace, determination, and leadership in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 hijackings and anthrax attacks. He almost single-handedly held this country together during those searing days: Just three days after the attacks, in his address at the National Cathedral, the President reassured the nation when he said: "War has been waged against us by stealth and deceit and murder. This nation is peaceful, but fierce when stirred to anger. This conflict was begun on the timing and terms of others. It will end in a way, and at an hour, of our choosing." On Friday, September 14, 2001, President Bush visited Ground Zero. Standing on a crushed and burned fire engine atop the smoldering pile at Ground Zero, he put his arm around a retired firefighter who had volunteered to help, and began speaking to the crowd. Rescue workers shouted that they could not hear him. Someone handed him a small American flag and bullhorn. The President spontaneously shouted: "I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you. And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon." The crowd roared with cheers and chants of "USA! USA! USA!" Then he raised that American flag and rallied a nation. Education & Employment Training 1. Signed the No Child Left Behind Act, delivering the most dramatic education reforms in a generation (challenging the soft bigotry of low expectations). The very liberal California Teachers union is currently running radio ads against the accountability provisions of this Act. 2. Increased funding for the Troops-to-Teachers program, which recruits former military personnel to become teachers. Environment & Energy 1. Killed the Kyoto Global Warming Treaty. 2. The plan works to develop cleaner technology, produce more natural gas here at home, make America less dependent on foreign sources of energy, improve national grid, etc. 3. Established a $10 million grant program to promote private conservation initiatives. 4. Significantly eased field-testing controls of genetically engineered crops. 5. Changed parts of the Forestry Management Act to allow necessary cleanup of the national forests in order to reduce fire danger. 6. Part of national forests cleanup: Restricted judicial challenges (based on the Endangered Species Act and other challenges), and removed the need for an Environmental Impact Statement before removing fuels/logging to reduce fire danger. 7. Killed Clinton's CO2 rules that were choking off all of the electricity surplus to California. 8. Provided matching grants for state programs that help private landowners protect rare species. Defense & Foreign Policy 1. Successfully executed two wars in the aftermath of 9/11/01: Afghanistan and Iraq. 50 million people who had lived under tyrannical regimes now live in freedom. 2. Saddam Hussein is now in prison. His two murderous sons are dead. All but a handful of the regime's senior members were killed or captured. 3. Leader by leader and member by member, al Maida is being hunted down in dozens of countries around the world. Of the senior al Qaeda leaders, operational managers, and key facilitators the U.S. Government has been tracking, nearly two-thirds have been taken into custody or killed. The detentions or deaths of senior al Qaeda leaders, including Khalid Shaykh Muhammad, the mastermind of 9/11, and Muhammad Atef, Osama bin Laden's second-in-command until his death in late 2001, have been important in the War on Terror. 4. Disarmed Libya of its chemical, nuclear and biological WMD's without bribes or bloodshed. 5. Continues to execute the War On Terror, getting worldwide cooperation to track funds/terrorists. Ordered a review of overseas deployments. 19. Ordered renovation of military housing. The military has already upgraded about 10 percent of its inventory and expects to modernize 76,000 additional homes this year. 20. Is working to tighten restrictions on military-technology exports. 21. Brought back our EP-3 intel plane and crew from China without any bribes or bloodshed. Globalization & Internationalism 1. Challenged the United Nations to live up to their responsibilities and not become another League of Nations (in other words, showed the UN to be completely irrelevant). 2. Killed U.S. involvement in the International Criminal Court. 3. Told the United Nations we weren't interested in their plans for gun control (i.e., the International Ban on Small Arms Trafficking Treaty).* 4. The only President since the founding of the UN to essentially tell that organization it is irrelevant. He said: "The conduct of the Iraqi regime is a threat to the authority of the United Nations, and a threat to peace. Iraq has answered a decade of UN demands with a decade of defiance. All the world now faces a test, and the United Nations a difficult and defining moment. Are Security Council resolutions to be honored and enforced, or cast aside without consequence? Will the United Nations serve the purpose of its founding, or will it be irrelevant?" We all know the outcome and the answer. 5. Told the Congress and the world, "America will never seek a permission slip to defend the security of our country." Government Reform 1. Improved government efficiency by putting hundreds of thousands of jobs put up for bid. This weakens public-sector unions and cuts undeserved pay raises. 2. Initiated review of all federal agencies with the goal of eliminating federal jobs (completed September 2003) in an effort to reduce the size of the federal government while increasing private sector jobs. 3. Led the most extensive reorganization the Federal bureaucracy in over 50 years: After 9/11, condensed 20+ overlapping agencies and their intelligence sectors into one agency, the Department of Homeland Security.* 4. Ordered each agency to draft a five-year plan to restructure itself, with fewer managers. 5. Converted federal service contracts to performance-based contracts wherever possible so that the contractor has measurable performance goals. Health 1. Strengthen the National Health Service Corps to put more physicians in the neediest areas, and make its scholarship funds tax-free. 2. Double the research budget of the National Institutes of Health. 3. Signed Medicare Reform, which includes: A 10-year privatization option. Prescription drug benefits: Prior to this reform, Medicare paid for extended hospital stays for ulcer surgery, for example, at a cost of about $28,000 per patient. Yet Medicare would not pay for the drugs that eliminate the cause of most ulcers, drugs that cost about $500 a year. Now, drug coverage under Medicare will allow seniors to replace more expensive surgeries and hospitalizations with less expensive prescription medicine. More health care choices: As President Bush stated, "…when seniors have the ability to make choices, health care plans within Medicare will have to compete for their business by offering higher quality service [at lower cost]. For the seniors of America, more choices and more control will mean better health care. These are the kinds of health care options we give to the members of Congress and federal employees. What's good for members of Congress is also good for seniors. New Health Savings Accounts: Effective January 1, 2004, Americans can set aside up to $4,500 every year, tax free, to save for medical expenses. Depending on your tax bracket, that means you'll save between 10 to 35 percent on any costs covered by money in your account. Every year, the money not spent would stay in the account and gain interest tax-free, just like an IRA. These accounts will be good for small business owners, and employees. More businesses can focus on covering workers for major medical problems, such as hospitalization for an injury or illness. At the same time, employees and their families will use these accounts to cover doctors visits, or lab tests, or other smaller costs. Some employers will contribute to employee health accounts. This will help more American families get the health care they need at the price they can afford. Homeland Security, Border Enforcement & Immigration 1. *See Government Reform above. Under President Bush's leadership, America has made an unprecedented commitment to homeland security. 2. Has CONSTRUCTION in process on the first 10 ABM silos in Alaska so that America will have a defense against North Korean nukes. Has ordered national and theater ballistic missile defenses to be deployed by 2004. 3. Announced a 9.7% increase in government-wide homeland security funding in his FY 2005 budget, nearly tripling the FY 2001 levels (excluding the Department of Defense and Project BioShield). 4. Before DHS was created, there were inspectors from three different agencies of the Federal Government and Border Patrol officers protecting our borders. Through DHS, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) now consolidates all border activities into a single agency to create "one face at the border." This not only better secures the borders of the United States, but it also eliminates many of the inefficiencies that occurred under the old system. With over 18,000 CBP inspectors and 11,000 Border Patrol agents, CBP has 29,000 uniformed officers on our borders. 5. The Border Patrol is continuing installation of monitoring devices along the borders to detect illegal activity. 6. Launched Operation Tarmac to investigate businesses and workers in the secure areas of domestic airports and ensure immigration law compliance. Since 9/11, DHS has audited 3,640 businesses, examined 259,037 employee records, arrested 1,030 unauthorized workers, and participated in the criminal indictment of 774 individuals. 7. Since September 11, 2001, the Coast Guard has conducted more than 124,000 port security patrols, 13,000 air patrols, boarded more than 92,000 vessels, interdicted over 14,000 individuals attempting to enter the United States illegally, and created and maintained more than 90 Maritime Security Zones. 8. Announced the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS), an internet-based system that is improving America's ability to track and monitor foreign students and exchange visitors. Over 870,000 students are registered in SEVIS. Of 285 completed field investigations, 71 aliens were arrested. 9. This week, the US-VISIT program began to digitally collect biometric identifiers to record the entry and exit of aliens who travel into the U.S on a visa. Together with the standard information, this new program will confirm compliance with visa and immigration policies. 10. Eliminated INS bureaucratic redundancies and lack of accountability. 11. Split the Immigration and Naturalization Service into two agencies: one to protect the border and interior, the other to deal with naturalization. 12. Signed the workplace verification bill to prevent hiring of illegal aliens. 13. Established a six-month deadline for processing immigration applications. 14. Information regarding nearly 100% of all containerized cargo is carefully screened by DHS before it arrives in the United States. Higher risk shipments are physically inspected for terrorist weapons and contraband prior to being released from the port of entry. Advanced technologies are being deployed to identify warning signs of chemical, biological, or radiological attacks. Since September 11, 2001, hundreds of thousands of first responders across America have been trained to recognize and respond to the effects of a WMD attack. Judiciary & Tort Reform 1. Is urging federal liability reform to eliminate frivolous lawsuits. 2. Killed the liberal ABA's unconstitutional role in vetting federal judges. The Senate is supposed to advise and consent, not the ABA. 3. Is nominating strong, conservative judges to the judiciary. 4. Supports class action reform bill which limits lawyer fees so that more settlement money goes to victims. Politics 1. His leadership resulted in Republican gains in the House and Senate, solidifying Republican control of both houses of Congress and the presidency. 2. Signed an EO enforcing the Supreme Court's Beck decision regarding union dues being used for political campaigns against individual's wishes. Second Amendment 1. Ordered Attorney General Ashcroft to formally notify the Supreme Court that the OFFICIAL U.S. government position on the 2nd Amendment is that it supports INDIVIDUAL rights to own firearms, and is NOT a Leftist-imagined "collective" right. 2. Signed TWO bills into law that arm our pilots with handguns in the cockpit. 3. Currently pushing for full immunity from lawsuits for our national gun manufacturers. 4. *See Globalization & Internationalism. Traditional Values, Compassion & Volunteerism 1. Endorses and promotes "The Responsibility Era." President Bush often speaks of the necessity of personal responsibility and civic volunteerism. He said, "In a compassionate society, people respect one another and take responsibility for the decisions they make in life. My hope is to change the culture from one that has said, if it feels good, do it; if you've got a problem, blame somebody else — to one in which every single American understands that he or she is responsible for the decisions that you make; you're responsible for loving your children with all your heart and all your soul; you're responsible for being involved with the quality of the education of your children; you're responsible for making sure the community in which you live is safe; you're responsible for loving your neighbor, just like you would like to be loved yourself." 2. Started the USA Freedom Corps, the most comprehensive clearinghouse of volunteer opportunities ever offered. For the first time in history, Americans can enter geographic information about where they want to get involved, such as state or zip code, as well as areas of interest ranging from education to the environment, and they can access volunteer opportunities offered by more than 50,000 organizations across the country and around the world. 3. Established the The White House Office and the Centers for the Faith-Based and Community Initiative — located in seven Federal agencies. The faith-based initiative supports the essential work of these important organizations. The goal is to make sure that grassroots leaders can compete on an equal footing for federal dollars, receive greater private support, and face fewer bureaucratic barriers. Work focuses on at-risk youth, ex-offenders, the homeless and hungry, substance abusers, those with HIV/AIDS, and welfare-to-work families. 4. The White House released a guidebook fully describing the Administration's belief that faith-based groups have a Constitutionally-protected right to maintain their religious identity through hiring — even when Federal funds are involved. 5. Issued an EO implementing the Supreme Court's Olmstead ruling, which requires moving disabled people from institutions to community-based facilities when possible. 6. Increased funding for low-interest loan programs to help people with disabilities purchase devices to assist them. 7. Revised the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Section 8 rent subsidies to disabled people, permitting them to use up to a year's worth of vouchers to finance down payments on homes. HUD has started pilot programs in 11 states. 8. Committed US funds to purchase medicine for millions of men, women and children now suffering with AIDS in Africa. 9. Heeding the words of our own Declaration of Independence, the president laid out the non-negotiable demands of human dignity for all people everywhere. On January 29, 2002, he said, "No nation owns these aspirations, and no nation is exempt from them. We have no intention of imposing our culture. But America will always stand firm for the non-negotiable demands of human dignity." As stated by the President, they are a virtual manifesto of conservative principles: Equal Justice Freedom of Speech Limited Government Power Private Property Rights Religious Tolerance Respect for Women Rule of Law

Area 51, however, is not "most places." For the fifth year in a row, President Bush has granted the Air Force an executive exemption from legal requirements to disclose information regarding solid or hazardous waste disposal operations at Area 51. All other government and all private business are required to provide information on their waste disposal procedures under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), administered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Lawsuits necessitate Area 51's annual exemption Area 51's annual exemption stems from lawsuits filed in 1996 on the behalf of two former civilian employees at the facility. Both employees, Robert Frost and Wally Kasza, died of illnesses attributed to inhalation of smoke from toxic materials being disposed of at Area 51. Plaintiffs in the lawsuits, Frost v. Perry and Kasza v. Browne, claimed that the Air Force and EPA had violated the RCRA by illegally burning Area 51's hazardous waste in open pits. Never seeking any monetary damages, Frost and Kasza asked only that the Air Force be forced to disclose factual information relating to the chemical nature of hazardous waste produced at Area 51 and the methods used for its disposal. Pentagon's defense: "What Area 51?" When the suits were filed, the Pentagon still relied on claims of "military and state secrets privilege" to deny the very existence of Area 51. At trial, Air Force lawyers argued that Frost and Kasza could not have possibly inhaled non-existent smoke from non-existent hazardous waste disposed of at a non-existent Air Force base. Not fully buying the government's "What Area 51?" defense, the courts handed down judgments that satisfied almost nobody. While the plaintiffs were not allowed to find out what Frost, Kasza and other workers had been exposed to, the courts did order the EPA to conduct annual inspections of "an operating location near Groom Lake" for compliance with the RCRA and to make its findings public. The Air Force, however, did not want to make those findings public and the Air Force knew a way to get its way. Under federal law - 42 U.S.C. 6961(a) - the President of the United States can exempt "any solid waste management facility of any department, agency, or instrumentality in the executive branch from compliance with such a requirement if he determines it to be in the paramount interest of the United States to do so." Since 1998, two presidents have chosen to "do so." In 1997, a court ruled that the Air Force's exemption from hazardous waste disclosure for "an operating location near Groom Lake" had to be issued annually by the White House. President Clinton issued the first such exemption in 1998. Oh, That Area 51! The Air Force finally admitted the existence of Area 51 on April 17, 2000, when Air Force spokeswoman Gloria Cales told Associated Press reporters, "We acknowledge having an operating site there [Area 51], and the work is classified." Cales added that the work done at Area 51 involved "operations critical to the U.S. military and the country's security." Area 51 is believed to have been among several desolate dessert Air Force sites used for testing of once top-secret U.S. military aircraft, like the U-2 and SR-71 spy planes, and the F-177A stealth fighter and B-2 stealth bomber. Yet fueled by years of secrecy, the main thing to take off from Area 51 have been rumors and theories concerning "unearthly" operations going on there. Rumors of "alien toxins" blast off Nobody involved in the lawsuits ever even hinted that the substances Frost and Kasza died from were anything but good-old "Made in the USA" hazardous industrial waste. However, Area 51's reputation for extraterrestrial doings led ufologists and conspiracy theorists to claim the workers had actually been exposures to deadly alien toxins, possibly byproducts of alien spacecraft fuel. With its boundaries guarded round-the-clock by forces promising to employ deadly force against against trespassers, the air base that never existed has accumulated more than its share of rumored other worldly purposes, including but far from limited to: Crashed or captured extraterrestrial spacecraft are hidden there. Deceased and possibly surviving alien pilots are kept there. The alien spacecraft are being converted for use by the US Military. With the cooperation of the U.S. Air Force, Area 51 is used by an extraterrestrial military force, (They promise to help us win future wars in return for partial control of our government, the human race, etc.) Besides "eye-witness" accounts from a few credible and many not-so-credible people, Area 51's extraterrestrial rumors are based on three main facts: The Air Force runs it. It's in the desert, just like Roswell, New Mexico Flying lights and objects traveling at impossible speeds and making impossible maneuvers have been reported, even photographed in the vicinity. Still, the question remains... Neither Frost or Kasza ever claimed to have witnessed or to have knowledge of extraterrestrial activities at Area 51. The Air Force publicly claims waste disposal procedures at Area 51 now fully comply with EPA regulations. Why then, does the White House persist in exempting Area 51 from EPA disclosure, an exemption granted to no other military or non-military government facility? The answer, of course is that except for "an operating location near Groom Lake," there is nothing out there but desert. Nothing in the world.
What really happened at Walter Reed Hospital? Walter Reed Crumbled as Army Delayed Private Maintenance Contract Sunday , March 18, 2007 AP ADVERTISEMENT WASHINGTON — An Army contract to privatize maintenance at Walter Reed Medical Center was delayed more than three years amid bureaucratic bickering and legal squabbles that led to staff shortages and a hospital in disarray just as the number of severely wounded soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan was rising rapidly. Documents from the investigative and auditing arm of Congress map a trail of bid, rebid, protests and appeals between 2003, when Walter Reed was first selected for outsourcing, and 2006, when a five-year, $120 million contract was finally awarded. The disputes involved hospital management, the Pentagon, Congress and IAP Worldwide Services Inc., a company with powerful political connections and the only private bidder to handle maintenance, security, public works and management of military personnel. While medical care was not directly affected, needed repairs went undone as the staff shrank from almost 300 to less than 50 in the last year and hospital officials were unable to find enough skilled replacements. An investigative series by The Washington Post last month sparked a furor on Capitol Hill after it detailed subpar conditions at the 98-year-old hospital in northwest Washington and substandard services for patients. Three top-ranking military officials, including the secretary of the Army, were ousted in part for what critics said was the Pentagon's mismanaged effort to reduce costs and improve efficiency at the Army's premier military hospital while the nation was at war. IAP is owned by a New York hedge fund whose board is chaired by former Treasury Secretary John Snow, and it is led by former executives of Kellogg, Brown and Root, the subsidiary spun off by Texas-based Halliburton Inc., the oil services firm once run by Vice President Dick Cheney. IAP finally got the job in November 2006, but further delays caused by the Army and Congress delayed work until Feb. 4, two weeks before the Post series and two years after the number of patients at the hospital hit a record 900. "The Army unfortunately did not devote sufficient resources to the upfront planning part of this, and when you do that, you suffer every step of the way," said Paul Denett, administrator for federal procurement policy at the Office of Management and Budget, the White House unit that prepares the president's budget and oversees government contracts. The contract includes management of Building 18, which houses soldiers with minor injuries and was highlighted in the Post series as symptomatic of substandard conditions: black mold on the walls of patient rooms, rodent and cockroach infestation, and shoddy mattresses. Those 54 rooms are now vacant. Interior work cannot be started until a badly damaged roof is repaired, and that will need another contract because it's not covered in the IAP contract, Walter Reed officials said. "These rooms are exactly as they were left," Sgt. Gary Rhett, manager of Building 18, said Thursday. "No changes have been made." The Army has confirmed the timing of the contract delays but declined several requests for comment on why the protest and appeal process took so long, even as more and more injured soldiers were arriving. The trail goes back to the end of the Clinton administration. The Army began studying the cost benefits of privatization in 2000. When President Bush took office, he mandated the competitive outsourcing of 425,000 federal jobs. At the time, the Pentagon was aggressively pushing for increased outsourcing, and in June 2003, then-Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld told a Senate committee he was considering outsourcing up to 320,000 nonmilitary support jobs. That's the same year that the Army asked for bids on Walter Reed and, coincidentally, the same year the United States invaded Iraq. One company responded: Johnson Controls World Services Inc., which would be acquired by IAP in March 2005. It initially bid $132 million, but it and Walter Reed's then-management agreed that the Army was underestimating the cost. By September 2004, the Army had decided it would be cheaper to continue with current management, which said it could do the work for $124.5 million. Johnson Controls filed a protest with the Government Accountability Office. The protest was dismissed in June 2005, but the Army agreed to reopen bidding three months later to include additional costs for services. In January 2006, after two rounds of protests by IAP and two appeals by Walter Reed employees to the U.S. Army Medical Command, IAP was named the winner, according to Steve Sanderson, a Walter Reed spokesman. Instead, in an unusual turn of events, the contract wasn't awarded for another 11 months, the GAO said. Walter Reed officials blame several factors, including an additional protest to the GAO filed by Deputy Garrison Commander Alan D. King, a separate appeal to the U.S. Army Medical Command by Walter Reed's public works director, at least one intervention by Congress, and delays on required congressional notifications about government employee dismissals. IAP spokeswoman Arlene Mellinger said "it was up to the Army to decide when to begin that contract." The company was ready to start at any time, she added. In August 2006, led by Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., lawmakers asked then-Army Secretary Francis J. Harvey to hold off on the contract until Congress finished work on the fiscal 2007 defense appropriations bill. Congress approved that bill Sept. 29. The Army's plan then was to eliminate 360 federal jobs at Walter Reed in November and turn the work over to IAP, according to the American Federation of Government Employees, a federal workers' trade union. But the Army failed to notify Congress 45 days in advance, as required by law, so the turnover was delayed until early this year. Then it was IAP's turn to have problems. When work finally began at the hospital, IAP made an immediate request, which the Army approved, to hire 87 temporary skilled workers for up to four months "to ease the turbulence caused by employees being placed into positions or other installations and otherwise finding new jobs early," said Sanderson, the Walter Reed official. However, a "tight" job market in the Washington area meant that only 10 qualified temporary employees were found, he added. Meanwhile, injured soldiers continue to arrive weekly to a short-handed, deteriorated hospital, which the Army still plans to close in 2011.
I am a recipient of social security disability benefits.? I am wanting to return to work and have contacted several local, state and federal agencies for assitance in obtaining employment. Having a disability, and retuning to the work force after a 10 year absence creates some unsual circumstances most job seekers don't have to face. After my contact with these government agencies I was left with little or no assitance in finding a "career" oreintated position. I even contacted the "ticket-to-work" program that is endorsed by the Social Security Administration itself. I was told that very few disabled citizens looking to return to work are offered more than minimum wages positions. I have a house payment and other expenses and minimum wage won't support that. I'm not asking for a $50K salary, but one that I can pay my bills with. Any suggestions?

Should Washington DC be moved for security purposes? The centers of all three branches of the U.S. federal government are in the District. It also serves as the headquarters for the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Organization of American States, the Inter-American Development Bank, and other national and international institutions. The population of the District of Columbia, as of 2005 United States Census Bureau estimates, is 582,049 persons. The Washington Metropolitan Area has more than five million residents. As of 2002, the federal government accounts for 27% of Washington, D.C.'s jobs According to the Census Bureau, the District's daytime population is estimated at 982,853.[21] The influx of over 410,000 workers into Washington on a normal business day comprises a 72% increase of the capital's normal population Washington D.C. crime rates (2005) remain among the highest of U.S. cities, and it was most recently ranked as the 13th most dangerous city in the nation (2005). Washington, D.C.'s crime rate surpasses the rates of L.A. and New York. Above are the Facts, Below are my questions/problems with the setup 1. Is it not a bad idea to have the centers of all three branches of the US Govt located in the same area? This made since when DC was designed due to communication needs, but in today's communication age there is no need to have all branches of the Govt centrally located, in my opinion this is a disaster waiting to happen, when you throw in the world bank, and all other political/financial interest, its just a matter of time until DC is attacked again. 2. Traffic in DC is INSANE, the WORST in the country, and above tells you why the population of the district more than doubles during work hours. This is because Most of DC is still unlivable to the people who work there because of crime and demographics. They are forced to live outside of DC for safety concerns and commute in daily. 3. DC crime is unreal, when you consider it's crime is worse than LA and NY but it has a population of only 500,000, its totally insane, the entire city is a haven for criminals/gangs/drugs. My proposal: Do not have every major never center to the US Govt located in the same general area, Wyoming is wide open, use it. Moving each branch to it's own separate and sparsely populated area would not only improve the safety of the federal employees but also boost the local economy without overwhelming it like it has done in DC. The Federal Govt makes up roughly 30% of the jobs in DC, but off those 30% only .02 percent of those jobs are held by residents of DC. My point is that DC will not collapse if the Federal Government pulls out and moves elsewhere, sure it will take a hit, but in so it will also disperse the gangs and criminals and actually make the "NEW DC" a livable community that can sustain itself without federal employees and 50% less traffic. Opinions?
Do you agree with these six biblical reasons for opposing the legalization of illegal aliens:? 1. Greed & Envy: Illegal aliens are pouring into the United States because they ”covet thy neighbor’s goods” – God’s 10th Commandment Ex. 20 and Deut. 5. Mexicans comprise about 90 percent of the illegal aliens in question. They certainly are not aliens escaping a leftist regime, starvation, political annihilation, or religious persecution. They just want what we have without earning it. They are thieves and lawbreakers who think they are ”entitled” to live like Americans without being Americans. On the same scale, American businesses are advocating this invasion. These businessmen are greedy vultures willing to eat this country alive just to line their pockets regardless of the long-term consequences to this nation. 2. The United States is a sovereign nation: God Almighty owns all of the land; yet, He recognized the sovereignty of nations and determined where He wanted each of us to be born. The Bible says, ”And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings.” Acts 17:26. The United States has laws in place to deny or permit entrance to whomever it pleases. It has the right to physically enforce or bar entry to any invaders to this country. Unfortunately, we have a president and congress who are kowtowing to foreign governments like Mexico’s Fox and Calderon for their own perverted interests in building a One World Order. Our government officials and illegal aliens are both guilty of lawlessness and God says, ”He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, Both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord.” Proverbs 17:15. 3. They are an economic drain: Illegal aliens are a financial drain on this country. They strain our hospitals, welfare system, schools, tax-paid housing, school lunch programs, and jails. Illegal aliens from third-world countries are the major source for the growing infestation of bedbugs and the return of such diseases as tuberculosis and leprosy previously thought eradicated in our country. Few illegals pay taxes or file returns except to get money back through the Earned Income Credit Act even though they haven’t paid a dime into the system. Being a free-loader is wrong for the Bible says, ”For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.” 2 Thess. 3:10. 4. They are a barrier to God’s blessings on this country: The U. S. was formed as a Christian nation and, until recently, staunchly supported Israel. The result was God’s uncommon favor and blessings upon America. We were living testimony of the truth of God’s promise to Abram saying, ”I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you; and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” Gen. 12:3. When illegal aliens come here, they bring their religion with them. Unfortunately, Mexico and other Hispanic countries are predominately Roman Catholic, which is an idol-based religion. They worship Jesus’ mother on a comparable, if not elevated, level to Jesus”You shall not make for yourself a carved image – any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the LORD your God am a jealous God …” Deut. 5:8-9. Christ. Their growing numbers in the U.S. means that Christians are losing ground to them and bringing about God’s established curses on idolatrous nations who violate His 2nd Commandment – 5. Illegal aliens are rebellious: They thumb their noses at our laws, ordinances, and regulations. Consider the vast number of illegal aliens who drive unabashedly without driver’s licenses, car insurance, license plates, and who don’t even know the rules of the road. They violate local ordinances by renting apartments or houses and then share them with multiple families. They blatantly use our facilities without paying for them because they don’t want to or have to. God said, ”For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.” 1 Samuel 15:23. 6. Mexicans are not the ”New Israel and the U. S. is not their Promised Land”: Church and bleeding heart sympathizers use the analogy that these aliens are like Ruth of the Bible. Ruth was a blessing to Israel; however, these illegal aliens are not a blessing to this country. Ruth was an immigrant who adopted the ways and laws of her new people instead of trying to make that nation like Moab – ”your people shall be my people and your God my God.” Book of Ruth 1:16. Americans are repeatedly told that they do the jobs that Americans won’t do. What a LIE! Politically correct governments and businesses hire illegal aliens instead of Americans for various jobs, including city, county, state and federal jobs. These ”good folks” simply accept a TIN number instead of a Social Security number and don’t bother to check them out before hiring. If illegal aliens want to become Americans, let them go to the back of the line and follow the right procedures for entry. Let them learn the language and make a personal commitment to leave their old country behind them instead of trying to make this country an extension of theirs. As God said, ”And when a stranger dwells with you and wants to keep the Passover to the Lord, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as a native of the land. For no uncircumcised person shall eat it.” Exodus 12:48. This scripture can be symbolically translated to say, he who wants to be an American needs to follow the laws and customs of the land!
Career Advice Needed? I'm a college senior, age 21 and getting a bachelors in Criminal Justice. I have been tossing between career ideas but can't settle on one. I have aspirations to go into the Navy as an officer and become a SEAL, Join the Army as officer and do special forces, Join Coast Guard as officer and do their law enforcement route (LEDET, etc.), apply for federal jobs such as Secret Service, ATF, FBI, Immigration and Customs, Border Patrol, and Diplomatic Security. These are all the possible careers just racing through my mind everyday and yet I seem to choose one and then a month later I think one of the other jobs is going to be better for me. It is almost like a struggle and alot of confusion right now in my life on my career. What I'm asking for is guidance on choosing a career, especially the ones I listed above. For example ways to focus on what I really want to do. Are there things that are more important I need to look for than just the initial sexiness of the job? Suggestions welcome. And one more important career option I forgot to list above is CIA, the clandestine side of the agency.
when did socialism become such a bad word .? did rich sell out your momma for a buck americans take over .Have the days of barn raisings and community projects that help everyone become such a bad concept. SINCE when did people working to make life better for the community become so wrong . COULD it be the government ,now run by corporate america and its intrests have sold out the working man . NO longer do we come together on anything and we all still have the same problems that have plagued man for centuries . the working man only wants whats his and for people to give him the chance to own a piece of land , a secure job outside of the local and federal jobs so prevelent today .this is only creating more poverty and a wider gap between those who have security and those who do not. i have seen both sides of america corporate greed and the working man . the numbers do not reflect the attitude of most americans . WAKE up ,those people who are living the dream are all part of government by the people for it's own self intrests.
Mission Accomplished? Last night on The Daily Show (one of my primary sources of news- LOL) Jon Stewart made the observation that it appears that in a way we've managed to accomplish what we set out to do in Iraq: we've turned it into the country that we said we were invading in 2003. It's become a breeding ground for terrorism, the borders have been destabilized, and we turned a nation that was at peace within itself into a hotbed of civil unrest. Anti-American sentiment is at an all time high, and money and volunteers are pouring into terrorist training camps throughout the Middle East. Might this not be the Mission we set out to accomplish? The American oil industry is seeing record profits, Haliburton and other administration favorites have absconded with billions, thousands of new Federal jobs have been created thanks to the "war on terror", and we've assured that military spending- long a top Republican priority- will continue to rise as we deal with a whole host of new security threats. "News" from political pundits and spin doctors- i.e. anyone on Fox News, and your minister- is hardly more reliable than a comedian that isn't afraid to call it as he sees it. And, if you're going to spray a hornets nest, you contain it first and then attack it head-on... you don't spritz away at the fringes, like we did in Iraq, diverting resources away from the real fight and getting the hornets angry. For crying out loud, every published non-partisan report- even those sponsored by the Republicans- indicate that our good buddies the Saudis had (and have) closer ties to terrorism than Saddam and Iraq. And no, Bush never "said" "Mission Accomplished", but to suggest that the Administration did not approve his appearance in front of a huge taxpayer-purchased banner with this message on it is to imply gross incompetence.
Why are Dems diverting funds from our Security & Intel? In light of the near miss on our Army base in N.J. why are Dems diverting some spy funds to study global warming. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,270656,00.html EP. PETER HOEKSTRA, R-MICH., RANKING MEMBER, INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE: Well, Neil, obviously we are a country that is under continued threat. We have an intelligence community that is focused on stealing secrets from other countries, their plans and intentions. And now we are going back to what we did in the 1990s. We are shifting intelligence resources to politically correct activities. In the 1990s, we focused it on the environment, we focused on the nice guys. Spies don't recruit bad people. What happened is we were blind to al Qaeda. Now when the threat continues to be real — continues to be real, here they go again. They are thinking about moving intelligence resources to study an issue that can be studied by a number of other agencies in the federal government. This is not a job of the intelligence community. There are other places to divert money for global warming. Dems just hate security. They want to defund the intelligence community and repeal the Patriot Act. Democrats want us to be sitting ducks.
What is it like to work for Fed. Gov.? Hello. I am one semester away from obtaining BBA and have been looking for careers in Fed. Gov. for a while. To me, money isn't as important as job security. I also like the ample benefits offered to federal workers. But I would like to hear first-hand account of what it is like to work for Fed. Gov. I am sure there are downsides to it as well. If you have worked for Fed. Gov., how did you like the job? What did you like/dislike about working for Fed. Gov.?
