Finding Federal Employment Knowledge Base
Does Federal Un-Employment offer extentions? I am no long on State Un-Employment and have now been put on Federal Un-Employment. My funds will run out probable mid December this year. I am worried because I still am un able to find employment. Does anyone know if Federal gives extent ions for benefits?
I am a college student interested in a career with the federal govt in MI. Where can I find a career mentor? I would like to be able to speak with someone specifically about the Student Temporary Employment Program or similar programs geared toward helping students find jobs with federal agencies. I am especially interested in the following agencies or ones similar: *Veteran's Administration *Immigration and Naturalization *Customs and Border Protection *Environmental Protection Agency I realize that I am limited by the fact that I live in Michigan and not D.C. or somewhere else there is a concentration of federal agencies. However, Detroit has an international border, enormous poverty, and the Great Lakes to protect - I'd be willing to bet that there are plently of federal interests here. I understand that there are difficulties associated with finding a federal job (competitiveness, for instance) but what I am looking for is, again, information SPECIFIC to college students seeking government jobs. Thank you for looking!
Is there still a German Federal Employment Agency online job fair for IT? I found the site here http://www.germany.info/Vertretung/usa/en/04__Legal/03__FAQ/Visa/__FAQ__Visa.html saying that the German Federal Employment Agency has set up an online job fair, due to the shortage of IT skills in Germany. A bit of research and it seems this shortage was back in 2003/2004. Do you know if there is still an online job fair for foreigners to find an IT job in Germany? And what the link for this is? Also what is the IT job market like in Germany currently?
criminal record and federal employment? I would like to know if you have a misdemeanor conviction can you still get hired for a governmennt job?. If so is there a certain "time spent" since the conviction before you can apply to the job? Does somone know what web site I can go to find out more info?
From a moral perspective is it preferable in situations where you cannot find employment to accept? unemployment and other forms of assistance or to steal the air conditioning units from bank buildings at night? I have always been self reliant but after a few months of unemployment I started decided that it would be better to burglarize banks and large corporations which I knew would be well insured. But this still seems wrong and now I am working on a plan to divert an entire truck loads of copier paper being shipped to the federal government. Which is better?
Does anyone know if they will extended federal unemployment? I have been on unemployment for a few months. I am trying very hard to find a job but at my last job, I was there for 7 years and made $40,000 usd a year. I was in sales and now since the market is so down, I cannot expect to find employment with that type of salary. Does anyone know if the government is going to extend unemployment benefits?
Is the Canadian economy really as strong as the Federal Government claims it to be? I'm not so sure it is. I had to take a job flipping burgers because it was all I could find. I have a college degree and would like to someday use it but I think I might have to travel outside the country to find employment. The housing affordability index is at an all time high and disposable income among Canadians is at an all time low. That to me means a slow, garbage economy.

Federal Grand Juries are begining to convict those who aid and harbor illegal aliens. Is this a good thing? According to the article, she was convicted in a jury trial and can get 10 years in federal prison without possibility of parole. Is this a step in the right direction? A federal jury has convicted a Monett woman for harboring and hiring illegal immigrants employed at a Barry County poultry processing plant raided by federal authorities last May. Jurors on Jan. 15 found Dora Ruiz, 33, guilty of harboring an illegal alien and inducing an illegal alien to enter or reside in the United States, according to a U.S. Attorney’s Office news release. Ruiz formerly worked in the human resources department at George’s Processing Inc. plant in Butterfield, north of Cassville. George’s is based in Springdale, Ark. On May 22, about 100 officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the Social Security Administration Office of Inspector General, U.S. Marshals Service and the Missouri Highway Patrol served search warrants at the plant in connection with an investigation into alleged identity fraud and employment of illegal immigrants. Officers arrested 136 people believed to be in the country illegally; 28 were later criminally charged with immigration and identity theft offenses. Evidence at the trial indicated that Ruiz assisted George’s employees by completing their Employment Eligibility Verification I-9 forms and translating from English to Spanish. Prosecutors said that Ruiz knew many employees were illegal immigrants who used fraudulently obtained Social Security numbers and identity documents in order to get jobs at the plant. Another former George’s HR employee – 23-year-old Sinthia Valadez-Ramirez – also pleaded guilty Jan. 8 to aiding and abetting others to commit aggravated identity theft, according to the release. “These convictions mark an important development in our continued commitment to pursuing employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens,” John Wood, U.S. attorney for the Western District of Missouri, said in the release. Under federal statutes, Ruiz faces a sentence of up to 10 years in federal prison without parole. http://www.sbj.net/article.asp?aID=11569519.5120355.1041131.4577099.775411.795&aID2=80078 I can already tell I'm going to have a very difficult time picking a best answer. There are just so many good ones here.
John McCain funded by George Soros since 2001? John McCain Funded By Soros Since 2001 Candidate's Reform Institute Also Accepted Funds From Teresa Kerry by Jerome R. Corsi As published at WorldNetDaily As Sen. John McCain assumes the GOP front-runner mantle, his long-standing, but little-noticed association with left-wing donors such as George Soros and Teresa Heinz Kerry is receiving new attention among his Republican critics. In 2001, McCain founded the Alexandria, Va.-based Reform Institute as a vehicle to receive funding from George Soros' Open Society Institute and Teresa Heinz Kerry's Tides Foundation and several other prominent non-profit organizations. McCain used the institute to promote his political agenda and provide compensation to key campaign operatives between elections. In 2006, the Arizona senator was forced to sever his formal ties with the Reform Institute after a controversial $200,000 contribution from Cablevision came to light. McCain solicited the donation for the Reform Institute using his membership on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. In a letter to the Federal Communications Commission, he supported Cablevision's push to introduce the more profitable al la carte pricing, rather than packages of TV programming. Yet, the Reform Institute still employs the McCain campaign's Hispanic outreach director, Juan Hernandez, as a senior fellow of its Comprehensive Immigration Reform Initiative. As WND reported, Hernandez serves as a non-paid volunteer for the McCain campaign. A dual Mexican-U.S. citizen, he was a member of former President Vicente Fox's cabinet, representing an estimate 24 million Mexicans living abroad. Hernandez, with a "Mexico first" message, has argued aggressively against building a fence on the Mexican border, insisting the frontier needed to remain wide open so illegal immigrants could easily enter the U.S. The July 6, 2001, homepage of the Reform Institute archived on the Internet lists founder McCain as chairman of the group's advisory committee. Prominent senior officials on the McCain 2008 presidential campaign staff found generously paid positions at the Reform Institute following the senator's unsuccessful run for the White House in 2000. Rick Davis, McCain's current campaign manager, was paid $110,000 a year by the Reform Institute for a consulting position, according to the group's 2003 Form 990 filing with the IRS. In 2004, Davis advanced to the position of Reform Institute president, with an annual salary of $120,000, according to the group's 2004 Form 990. In 2005, Davis remained president, but his salary dropped back to $45,000 a year, with a time commitment of five hours per week, according the 2005 Form 990. Carla Eudy, a senior advisor on McCain's 2008 presidential campaign who until recently headed fundraising, was paid $177,885 in 2005 to serve as the Reform Institute's secretary-treasurer. Other McCain presidential campaign staffers who have found employment at the Reform Institute include Trevor Potter, McCain's 2000 legal counsel, and Crystal Benton, the senator's former press secretary, who served as institute's communications director in 2005 for an annual salary of $52,083. The Reform Institute regularly has supported McCain in various legislative efforts, including on campaign finance reform, global warming and "comprehensive immigration reform," all efforts widely opposed by many in the party's conservative base. Arianna Huffington, syndicated columnist and creator of the HuffingtonPost.com, has served on the Reform Institute's advisory committee since the group's inception. According to FrontPage Magazine, Teresa Heinz Kerry has provided more than $4 million to the Tides Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by anti-war activist Drummond Pike in 1976 with a history of funding causes such as abortion, homosexual-rights activism and open borders. Financial contributors while McCain was chairman of the Reform Institute also have included the Educational Foundation of America, a group that supports abortion and opposes drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve. The Soros-Kerry funding connection with McCain was first exposed by Ed Morrissey at the Captains Quarters blog in 2005. Subsequently, David Horowitz's DiscoverTheNetworks.org website and Michelle Malkin's blog gave renewed attention to the Reform Institute's funding ties. http://gunowners.org/mcsoros.htm Ive been saying McCain would be no better than Obama, can you guys start believing it now? Diligas- Im just pointing out that you people that still toot your "I voted for McCain" still voted for a clown. Thanks for discrediting the only conservative presidential candidate in 2008, RON PAUL! We may not ever get the chance again.
Where can I go, when theres no where to go? Four years ago when my relationship began, it was a far cry from what it has become today. The man Im with was caring, kind, generous etc etc. Today I am now a shell of what I used to be. I no longer have any friends, I am unable to go anywhere, do anything. Because I tried to make him happy, I gave up everything a little at a time for him. Now I have no where to turn. Shelters are full. I have no income because when I would start a job, he did his best to make sure I didnt get there on time or missed work all together because of no transportation or money for a bus. I have called state & federal agencies for help but because I have no dependents, disabilities and Im white...I dont qualify. Other than being homeless and on the streets, I have no where to go for help. Is there anywhere I can go to seek assistance untill I am able to find employment to work long enough to be able to feed and house myself? Is my only option to live with an abusive relationship forever? Help!!

Is criminal justice a marketable major? I'm currently a CJ major in college and am wondering if a BA in Criminal Justice is relatively marketable outside of the field of CJ. It takes awhile to get into any type of federal law enforcement position so I'll need to find some type of suitable employment until then. How do employers view a major in Criminal Justice?

Does anyone know the TOTAL EMPLOYMENT in the US with the % PUBLIC and %PRIVATE sector? For example, the total US workforce in 2005 was _____. This breaks down ____% private sector, _____% Government (of some type). Even better would be "Government" broken down by Federal, Military, State, Local, etc. If I could find historical figures, that would be totally ideal! In this manner, I will be able to show employment trends and from where the jobs are coming. ---- I am NOT looking for an unemployment rate. Everyone knows what this is. I AM looking for something much deeper. That is the total number of employed by Public and Private sector. For Example (made up numbers)- 2007: 193,000,000 employed with 18.4% public sector, 3.8% military and 77.8% public sector. Something like that. Again, if anyone knows the source where I can find this data for other years, that's ideal

What per cent of the working Liberals are employed by non-governmental employers? Most Liberals don't seem to have much of a work ethic and migrate to local, state, of federal govermental employers. Liberals have found by working for the government, including teaching, they have secure employment, don't have to be too bright, and it is next to impossible to be terminated. Are there any statistics indicating what per cent of working Liberals are employed by non-govermenental employers and of that group how many are engaged in Legal work?
Questions to uncover hidden disabilities? I work for the administrative entity of a government program that helps people find employment. I work under a federal grant to help people with disabilities navigate their way through our system and the other systems that we deal with, and provide assistance in understanding how working will affect benefits. The project I am currently working on is coming up with a questionnaire that will help the people who work directly with our customers ask questions that may help uncover hidden disabilities and/or things people may not even think of as a disability but may allow them to receive additional services/accommodations if they would like (such as if a person has trouble standing/sitting for a long period of time, or if their reading/comprehension skills are considered low). Continued below :) I am hoping that someone can help point me in the right direction to find questions that can be asked to uncover hidden disabilities so that we can assist our customers by providing information to programs and/or accommodations that may help them to find and maintain employment. I want to make sure that my customers are aware of all services and rights that are available to them so that they are able to make an informed choice when choosing services. Does anyone know of any good websites that address this? Thank you! The biggest barrier for people with disabilities (pwd) isn't always their disability, but those trying to assist them to get services. The people I am writing the questionaire for are generally people that have not been trained on the services that are available to ALL of our customers (not just those with disabilities) and trying to teach them that the person they preceive as "lazy, unmotivated" etc may be someone that doesnt comptehend all that they are asking them to do, or may be so frustrated by the forms that we require them to fill out that they are masking their frustration with anger. sorry - rant over lol Chillswoman – thank you for the job description idea – that is a wonderful idea! That could also be used to open up discussions on appropriate workplace behavior for all of our program participants! I understand that people have the right to not disclose, and the questionnaire would not be a mandatory document. As with everything we do here (unless mandated by state or federal government) it would be completely voluntary and strictly confidential, and would in no way affect employment. We are not employers or an employment agency nor are our service providers. We provide workforce development skills to the people in our community through federal, state and private funding. Think Work First or TANF funding. Also........ ..........in my community, a lot of people have hidden learning disabilities and do not know it. For example, it is not unusual here for someone who may only be able to read at a 4th grade level to graduate high school without ever having been tested or given the opportunity to participate in classes that would help to raise reading comprehension. Most of the people who have a known disability will self disclose since they know that opens up funding and other supportive services to them that can help with accommodations. No Tech, we are not job coaches and I definitely don't do it for the money as my paycheck proves :-) My title is Disability Program Navigator and it is a federal grant. The service providers do have job developers, and we have some that specialize in working with pwd, (this just means that they are more knowledgeable about social security and the benefits to the employers and potential employees). But I understand about the job coaches - some of my customers that I have worked with in the past have worked with job coaches, and some had good experiences and some had bad, just like with anyone. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with yours. Thank you Jobees :)
As a two-time federal "tort victim" turned "whistleblower", how do I get the government off my back? The government has continually harrassed me through invasion of privacy and interfered in my employment, healthcare, education, insurance, etc. for a couple of decades. I turned the government in for mismanagment, fraud and abuse ( stealing million and systematically murdering anyone who got in their way) during the Reagan administration while working for the Department of Defense. In 2003, I found myself in the middle of a criminal toxic tort (illegal factory human toxic experiment) and again turned those involved in for first degree murder of one coworker and several counts of serious assault. The owner running the tort (CIA/OSI industrialist) admitted it and even inferred one intent of the tort was to chronically poison me to death. He showed no remorse or fear of prosecution. The Police, FBI and DOJ don't deny it, just refuse to investigate or take a report - all claiming they have no jurisdiction. I am the "skeliton in the closet" of some seriously powerful people. What do I do?
College grad seeking USPS employment. Help? What type of jobs are there for college grad in USPS sector.. Mail carriers? or any management or supervising jobs open to people with no USPS experience. It is quite hard to find a Federal job.
How do I find information online about a Federal Civil Court Case that has just been filed recently? There is a particular civil employment discrimination lawsuit that I have been following the motions and decisions made online. It was filed in the CT State Courts in 09/06, and as of October 2, the judge granted the Defendant's motion to remove the case to Federal Court. I need to know the website where I can look up the publicly available information. I was looking under the www.ct.gov judicial website, but now I'm not sure what Federal site to use. Help??
Federal government ideal employee of the handicapped? According to a N.Y. Times report the federal government is losing more disabled Americans that regular Americans at a rate of 18.7% decrease in the disabled American catagory and only a 6.9%% decrease for all other employees. The Federal government claims every October to be National Handicapped awareness month. It's the big photo opportunity for politicians to have their pictures taken with the president and a lucky two or three disabled Americans that were hired to positions that took four and eight year degrees to get that job. It's a good ol' boys club to get a federal job. The President's Ticket To Work Program was supposed to give disabled Americans another avenue of employment to the already dozen or so ways to get hired. The persons that work for Ticket to work all got jobs to help disabled Americans find work. The work was given to the workers at Ticket to work and disabled Americans assume the position. Remember, I am of a minority that any American can join in seconds.
Please Read. What does it mean to you with the current state of the union and world? Were we warned? Farewell Address Farewell Radio and Television Address to the American People by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, January 17, 1961. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My fellow Americans: Three days from now, after half a century in the service of our country, I shall lay down the responsibilities of office as, in traditional and solemn ceremony, the authority of the Presidency is vested in my successor. This evening I come to you with a message of leave-taking and farewell, and to share a few final thoughts with you, my countrymen. Like every other citizen, I wish the new President, and all who will labor with him, Godspeed. I pray that the coming years will be blessed with peace and prosperity for all. Our people expect their President and the Congress to find essential agreement on issues of great moment, the wise resolution of which will better shape the future of the Nation. My own relations with the Congress, which began on a remote and tenuous basis when, long ago, a member of the Senate appointed me to West Point, have since ranged to the intimate during the war and immediate post-war period, and, finally, to the mutually interdependent during these past eight years. In this final relationship, the Congress and the Administration have, on most vital issues, cooperated well, to serve the national good rather than mere partisanship, and so have assured that the business of the Nation should go forward. So, my official relationship with the Congress ends in a feeling, on my part, of gratitude that we have been able to do so much together. II We now stand ten years past the midpoint of a century that has witnessed four major wars among great nations. Three of these involved our own country. Despite these holocausts America is today the strongest, the most influential and most productive nation in the world. Understandably proud of this pre-eminence, we yet realize that America's leadership and prestige depend, not merely upon our unmatched material progress, riches and military strength, but on how we use our power in the interests of world peace and human betterment. III Throughout America's adventure in free government, our basic purposes have been to keep the peace; to foster progress in human achievement, and to enhance liberty, dignity and integrity among people and among nations. To strive for less would be unworthy of a free and religious people. Any failure traceable to arrogance, or our lack of comprehension or readiness to sacrifice would inflict upon us grievous hurt both at home and abroad. Progress toward these noble goals is persistently threatened by the conflict now engulfing the world. It commands our whole attention, absorbs our very beings. We face a hostile ideology-global in scope, atheistic in character, ruthless in purpose, and insidious in method. Unhappily the danger it poses promises to be of indefinite duration. To meet it successfully, there is called for, not so much the emotional and transitory sacrifices of crisis, but rather those which enable us to carry forward steadily, surely, and without complaint the burdens of a prolonged and complex struggle-with liberty at stake. Only thus shall we remain, despite every provocation, on our charted course toward permanent peace and human betterment. Crises there will continue to be. In meeting them, whether foreign or domestic, great or small, there is a recurring temptation to feel that some spectacular and costly action could become the miraculous solution to all current difficulties. A huge increase in newer elements of our defense; development of unrealistic programs to cure every ill in agriculture; a dramatic expansion in basic and applied research-these and many other possibilities, each possibly promising in itself, may be suggested as the only way to the road we wish to travel. But each proposal must be weighed in the light of a broader consideration: the need to maintain balance in and among national programs-balance between the private and the public economy, balance between cost and hoped for advantage-balance between the clearly necessary and the comfortably desirable; balance between our essential requirements as a nation and the duties imposed by the nation upon the individual; balance between action of the moment and the national welfare of the future. Good judgment seeks balance and progress; lack of it eventually finds imbalance and frustration. The record of many decades stands as proof that our people and their government have, in the main, understood these truths and have responded to them well, in the face of stress and threat. But threats, new in kind or degree, constantly arise. I mention two only. IV A vital element in keeping the peace is our military establishment. Our arms must be mighty, ready for instant action, so that no potential aggressor may be tempted to risk his own destruction. Our military organization today bears little relation to that known by any of my predecessors in peace time, or indeed by the fighting men of World War II or Korea. Until the latest of our world conflicts, the United States had no armaments industry. American makers of plowshares could, with time and as required, make swords as well. But now we can no longer risk emergency improvisation of national defense; we have been compelled to create a permanent armaments industry of vast proportions. Added to this, three and a half million men and women are directly engaged in the defense establishment. We annually spend on military security more than the net income of all United States corporations. This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence-economic, political, even spiritual-is felt in every city, every state house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society. In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together. Akin to, and largely responsible for the sweeping changes in our industrial-military posture, has been the technological revolution during recent decades. In this revolution, research has become central; it also becomes more formalized, complex, and costly. A steadily increasing share is conducted for, by, or at the direction of, the Federal government. Today, the solitary inventor, tinkering in his shop, has been over shadowed by task forces of scientists in laboratories and testing fields. In the same fashion, the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. For every old blackboard there are now hundreds of new electronic computers. The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present and is gravely to be regarded. Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite. It is the task of statesmanship to mold, to balance, and to integrate these and other forces, new and old, within the principles of our democratic system-ever aiming toward the supreme goals of our free society. V Another factor in maintaining balance involves the element of time. As we peer into society's future, we-you and I, and our government-must avoid the impulse to live only for today, plundering, for our own ease and convenience, the precious resources of tomorrow. We cannot mortgage the material assets of our grandchildren without risking the loss also of their political and spiritual heritage. We want democracy to survive for all generations to come, not to become the insolvent phantom of tomorrow. VI Down the long lane of the history yet to be written America knows that this world of ours, ever growing smaller, must avoid becoming a community of dreadful fear and hate, and be, instead, a proud confederation of mutual trust and respect. Such a confederation must be one of equals. The weakest must come to the conference table with the same confidence as do we, protected as we are by our moral, economic, and military strength. That table, though scarred by many past frustrations, cannot be abandoned for the certain agony of the battlefield. Disarmament, with mutual honor and confidence, is a continuing imperative. Together we must learn how to compose difference, not with arms, but with intellect and decent purpose. Because this need is so sharp and apparent I confess that I lay down my official responsibilities in this field with a definite sense of disappointment. As one who has witnessed the horror and the lingering sadness of war-as one who knows that another war could utterly destroy this civilization which has been so slowly and painfully built over thousands of years-I wish I could say tonight that a lasting peace is in sight. Happily, I can say that war has been avoided. Steady progress toward our ultimate goal has been made. But, so much remains to be done. As a private citizen, I shall never cease to do what little I can to help the world advance along that road. VII So-in this my last good night to you as your President-I thank you for the many opportunities you have given me for public service in war and peace. I trust that in that service you find somethings worthy; as for the rest of it, I know you will find ways to improve performance in the future. You and I-my fellow citizens-need to be strong in our faith that all nations, under God, will reach the goal of peace with justice. May we be ever unswerving in devotion to principle, confident but humble with power, diligent in pursuit of the Nation's great goals. To all the peoples of the world, I once more give expression to America's prayerful and continuing aspiration: We pray that peoples of all faiths, all races, all nations, may have their great human needs satisfied; that those now denied opportunity shall come to enjoy it to the full; that all who yearn for freedom may experience its spiritual blessings; that those who have freedom will understand, also, its heavy responsibilities; that all who are insensitive to the needs of others will learn charity; that the scourges of poverty, disease and ignorance will be made to disappear from the earth, and that, in the goodness of time, all peoples will come to live together in a peace guaranteed by the binding force of mutual respect and love.

Is there a simple way to figure out self-employed income taxes? I need to find a SIMPLE way to figure out taxes if I am self-employeed. For federal, state & SSI. Is it too much to ask to find a place that just gives you the formula's and definations for all three? I know my local tax is a flat rate % so I'm not concerned about that. I got more confussed than ever when I "googled" self employment. Thanks for whatever help you can give. All I want to do is babysit for a friend & do some freelance writing so I need to a program for my taxes.
I need help on starting an introduction on this essay question !? We are all familiar with the stories of Doctors driving taxi cabs and lawyers working as waiters in restaurant. Many newcomers to Canada have trouble finding employment in their various professions and fields of expertise. Once these individuals arrive in Canada many find that their foreign credentials are not recognized here. Do you think that these people are mislead about the employment opportunities in Canada and what can the Federal Government do to tap into the wealth of expertise that they individuals offer.
Do you think that financial insecurity could compromise the integrity of educational institutions? With the reductions in public funding and the increasing cost of essential commodities do you think that the merit of the higher education system will be compromised due to the need for financial revenue in continuing institution operation? Every business requires revenue to continue operation. If higher education institutions can't obtain their revenue from the federal/state government then the higher education institution must look elsewhere. To the students who are attending the institution. Isn't it true that the institution can generate the most revenue by perpetually allowing students to obtain passing grades regardless of their level of skill? Do you think that students are concerned that their degree might not be worth anything if/because the value of the degree has been depreciated due to a lack of integrity? I believe in the value of a college degree, but I think that the value of a college education is in danger. It is becoming harder and harder to find employment. I am advocating for those serious college students who put in the effort necessary to master their respective disciplines. I think it is unfortunate that some people will be incapable of receiving a level of skill equal to others, but it is important that students are placed appropriately. I don't think we are doing anyone a favor by falsely stating that a student who isn't prepared is prepared; it is unfair to lead people on, debts do accumulate.
What is the New York State self-employment tax rate? I had found it somewhere once before and I dont remember what is was. I think like 6% or 7%. I know the max income tax is 6.58%, but what about the self employement tax. My accountant gave me figures to paid both federal and state, but I think they are high, extremely high! Thanks in advance.
Where would I find out about Employee Rights in New Hampshire? I understand about employment at will in NH, but I feel I was terminated unjustly. The reasons given are completely at odds with the facts, and may have been fueled by my gender. Where would I find out about what the state or federal government uses as guidelines for wrongful termination? I understand about employment at will in NH, but I feel I was terminated unjustly. The reasons given are completely at odds with the facts, and may have been fueled by my gender. Where would I find out about what the state or federal government uses as guidelines for wrongful termination? I have searched the NH state website, but there is little information that relates to this, and most of it is vague. I was wondering if someone knew of a site more specifically suited to NH worker rights, or wrongful termination.
Can pre-employment medical checks access all your medical records? My understanding is that the medical check can only look at the records you gave them consent to search. So for example, almost all my records (99%) are in my home state, and I gave my federal employer access to look at them. However, I did not mention about one medical event that occurred at a hospital thousands of miles away. This record is not included in my medical transcripts back home. I'm wondering if there is any way they can find out about this event when it is not included on my local medical transcript. Also, I did not mention the name of the hospital on the medical form. At the bottom of the form I had to sign my name which gave them access to transcripts from "only the hospitals and the doctors stated on the form". Do you think they can find and access the one record from another hospital in another state?
Civil vs. Civil Federal? I work for a pre-employment screening company that conducts criminal and civil searches. Recently we have been asked the question "What is the difference between a regular civil case found in most common county courts and civil federal cases found in the federal court?". I have tried to research some reasons but have not been able to located anything that is helping. If anyone has any ideas or information, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!
I have 2 jobs, they are both considered full time, my primary employment being with a large company? And my second job I am self employed. I usually come pretty close to 40 or more hours a week on my second job. What I am not sure about is I want to hold back enough Federal & State taxes so that I don't end up paying at the end of the year, but I don't want a large refund either. I am one who likes to have their money weekly. None of that refund stuff for me. I want my money now. My employer deducts Fed, state, local, medicare & social security so will I have to do that with my SE taxes as well or will I be pretty much covered? And I find many calculators but none where I can use both employer taxes and SE taxes? Any suggestions? Anyone know of any loopholes I can look into. I have 3 children and I take care of a disabled aunt as well. Okay, to clarify this alittle more. I am both self employed and I work for a large firm. I know that when you work for someone else, your employer matches a portion of your tax deductions. When you are self employed you have to pay those yourself. I would like to be able to fix it so that my employer is paying my taxes and on my self employed job, I don't have to pay as much taxes without oweing a lot at the end of the year. Is that alittle clearer?
Vets - Suggestions for finding a job after military life? If you are a Vet looking for a job there are several websites. Let’s start here. You need to prepare a perfect resume and you need to research how to do this. Gone are the days of the one pagers. Don’t be redundant, but write about each of your jobs and your accomplishments. As you read about a job description, tailor your resume and use the buzzwords when describing your past employment. Now, go to Military.com. They will help you research writing your resume. You can also search for jobs in the private and federal sectors. Federal jobs can also be found on USAJobs.gov. Monster.com also helps your write resumes and look for jobs. Why are federal jobs good other than the great pay, advancement, benefits and retirement? As a Vet you are eligible for preferential hiring. State in your cover letter you are eligible under the Veteran’s Readjustment Act. (Research the VRA because you have to have served under certain conditions.) You also receive extra hiring points. If the position requires a degree, you are exempt under the VRA. Stay in the Reserve and earn a second retirement. As a federal employee you can take time off for drills, AT, and deployments without fear of reprisals from your employer – which is unlawful, but happens. You can also pay a percentage of your military time towards your federal retirement. Get hired as a Vet with 10 years active duty and you will have 11 years service after your first year on the job. That will really boost your retirement and cost very little. Usually 7% of your base pay per year you want credited. Employers really like Vets. Don’t forget to describe your leadership and accomplishments in your resume. There are also civilian contractor positions overseas that pay a lot, but have little career potential. Remember, always do your homework. Research resumes, job hunting, as well as the company and position you are applying for. Good luck and thank you for serving your country. Any other suggestions to share?
I need help finding out how much i will get or pay on my tax return? just want to know how much my tax return will be or if i have to pay. My employment income was $34.400 and i paid $4960 in federal income tax. I live in London, ON Canada and I have no rssp of any such. just need a ballpark estimate. Federal Jobs? If you are hired for a federal position in any branch of the goverment; For your first year of employment where you are required to serve a 1 year probationary term, is it pretty much inevitable that management or other individuals will highly criticize your performance reviews, and/or illegitamately try to find ways to make it appear that you cannot do your job in an attempt to get you laid off and/or fired? I am in my first year of a federal position, and this one manager really has it out for me, even though I meet my job requirements, am never late, have not been absent once yet, am respectful polite and understanding to him, listen to what he tells me to do, and he still finds crooked ways to lower my performance reviews. He recently stated that I will be fired if I don't improve my performance within the next 5 days. I've talked to him, and he is very evasive, doesn't answer my questions directly, and continually tries to beat around the bush when I ask questions, and for help. ?
Is the government lying to us about crime, unemployment and inflation? The federal government says that things are great but the people on the Internet say things are terrible. Who is right? The government says inflation is low by historical standards, but prices are rising like crazy. The government says that unemployment is only about 5% and that is near full employment because most of the people not working really do not want a job. But it is nearly impossible to find a good job. The government tells us we have very low crime closer to 1950s levels and everything is fine but parents are afraid to let their kids leave the house. What is the truth?
Help!!
Once you find out that your place of employment never submitted taxes...............? After 6 months I found out the company I have been working for were not submitting taxes on my wages. My salary showed net, but the company was pocketing the money that should have gone to state, city and federal branches. One I brought the findings to their attention I was soon fired claiming my position no longer remained. I can't even collect unemployement because there is no evience of me working. What does one do and what is the fastest way of me reporting this problem. At this time of the year work is hard to find and not being able to receive unemployment is a desaster. Someone, please help me and point me in the right direction.....
Where can you list the "Deadbeat Dads"? It has been two years since the biological father of my children has had regular CS payments. The Federal Government has held one of his Tax Checks for my two wonderful children. The authorities cannot find a legal employment for him.
Women: Do you really believe that there is huge discrimination against you? Last time I’ve checked, I haven’t seen much of discrimination from the federal government when it comes for the employment and their pay scales. The federal health agency spends more money on women’s health than on men’s. According to the federal statistics there are 39 states that have an office of women’s health and only six have one for men. A search of more than 3,000 medical journals listed in Index Medicus found that 23 articles were written on women’s health for each one written on men’s. Although a woman is only 14 percent more likely to die from breast cancer than a man is from prostate cancer, funding for breast cancer research is 660 percent greater than funding for prostate cancer research. Even the post office has gotten into the act: there is only one disease for which you can buy a postage stamp and the profits will go to research to cure the disease: breast cancer, even though heart disease kills millions more men prematurely. It does not seem like discrimination to me. Is it really the truth that women make $.75 for every dollar that men earn? If an employer has to pay a man a dollar for the same work a woman would do for seventy cents, why would anyone hire a man?” And if it were due to male bosses undervaluing women, wouldn’t an all-female business soon put a male-dominated one out of business? It just doesn't make sense to me Traveller glass ceiling is a myth when equating for job difficulty, unpleasantness, hours per week worked, years of experience, etc., women earn more than men for the same work. Jobs as computer programmers pay well but require never ending training in highly technical material and long, deadline-driven days cogitating at maximum in isolation. Few women are willing to do that work, so 75 percent of programmers are men. Jobs in sweltering, being prison guards, sanitation workers, crane opperators, masons, clanging, carcinogenic iron foundries pay well, but few women are willing to do that work. According to the Jobs Rated Almanac, fewer than one percent(!) of ironworkers are women. Baba Yaga, you are greatly mistaking. I used to have a great respect for you, until you attacked me. I was just defending myself against your verbal abuse aimed against me. So, don’t confuse my despise for you and for a woman’s issues. I used to volunteer for the NOW organization while in college and for the Abuse shelters for battered women. When I have daughters I want them to be treated based on their actions. I want them to be treated equally to men on the work field. When I have daughters I want them to be treated based on their actions. I want them to be treated equally to men on the work field. I work as a teacher and my pay is equal to all female teachers who have started at the same time as me. So, I don’t believe it and I work for private school and not some public school. Baba Yafa I have never called you a feminazi or a lesbian. NEVER. Show me porof where I called you that. I olny called you a b***, because you called me a Chauvinist pig (when I am not one) nor have ever been one. Sorry for the misspelled words. I typed to fast and didn’t proof read anything. What are you trying to prove by posting my question from before? The contact of that question was the same as the one right now. We do not need the feminist movement in today’s society where the women are treated equally to the men. Wreckless, 11% of all Fortune-500 senior executives are women. Now, you may ask why such a smaller number. Well accroding to The primary reason for the 11% figure is that men, on average, are willing to devote more time to their career. And time it takes. A study conducted by Dr. Warren Farrell (presient of NOW and the only man to hold such postion) The Business Roundtable, an association of CEOs, found that the average CEO works 58 hours per week. Fortune 500 CEOs likely work even more. Most women make different choices. The October 10, 2004 lead story on 60 Minutes and the September 2003 New York Times Magazine story documented that a majority even of Ivy- and Stanford-educated female alumni did not work full time. Harvard Business School reports that only 38% of its female MBA graduates, during their childbearing years, work full-time. Baba Yaga again it was your response and not mine. You have not showed me where I called you a lesbian. Plus, it is unfair for you to not post the complete remark where I provided books on the topic to show that societies place standards on women rights. I really do not like it when people do not post the complete replies and just pick at sentence that best suits their needs. Pandora, I bow my head to you. Thank you for volunteering to serve, protect, and safe guard my freedom. I hope to one day see you as a general or maybe even as a secretary of defense. Good luck to you. Baba Yaga, I have never said that English was my native language. I have immigrated to USA couple of years ago and am still learning English. When I came to this awesome country I only knew one word which was, “hello.” FYI English is not the only language in the world. The language that I speak over 300 million people speaks it. If you would like I can debate with you in Russian and you will quickly see that my writing skills are in par with my verbal skills. Also, I never said that I teach in English, but I do teach in RUSSIAN and yes I am a teacher so Deal with it.
Is this true about Hillary? * Helped Black Panthers who had been indicted for the torture and murder of a federal agent when she was in law school; * Flunked the DC Bar Exam and only found employment in Arkansas through Bill’s political connections; * Served on the board of Walmart and did nothing during the union busting times; * Took political appointments that enhance her resumé; * Took credit for major accomplishments that she does not deserve; * Is totally devoid of any meaningful experience whatsoever in international affairs and diplomacy; * Getting terminated from the House Judiciary Committee’s Impeachment Inquiry staff for her unethical practices. * Overseeing the “Presidential Task Force on Health Care Reform” that violated federal “Sunshine Laws” that cost the government $434,000.00 for legal fees and Mrs. Clinton and others fined $285, 864.00.

If I have 3 misdemeanors and charges were dropped can I get a job with a Federal company in Miami? I was arrested and charged with 3 misdemeanors in 2007. All charges were droppped in May of 2008 and I was not convicted. I applied at a company at Miami Airport at which time I showed them the court documents of the dismissal and told them the truth, I did not lie on the application. Today I received a call from the company asking me what the charges were for. I then explained and they asked if it was for a felony or a misdemeanor. What is the difference between a felony or a misdemeanor? Will a misdemeanor affect my employment possibilities even if I was found not guilty? Can anyone help me with these questions. Thanks.
What is the best industry for entry level employment with opportunity for growth? I graduated with my Bachelors in International Business Management in 2003. I had the hardest time finding a full-time job so I took the first thing that came along. I now work for the federal government, but I only answer phones. Lately, I am so frustrated in this job. Mainly because our Managers are Village Idiots. We wouldn't know cost effective if it hit us in the face and it's all about status quo. It's been 3 years and I came in thinking I can work hard and move up the ladder. NOT HAPPENING. We have been on a hiring freeze for 3 years. I have since started my Master's in Human Resources Administration. I am 3 courses away from finishing. I am tired of working administrative jobs and I feel I am paying $1300 a class for nothing. Where should I start? I am looking for a job where I can start fairly entry-level and promote through the ranks. I have tried other government agencies which I qualify for with upper-level education, but I guess bureaucracy gets in the way.
Has Hillary updated her resume? * Helped Black Panthers who had been indicted for the torture and murder of a federal agent when she was in law school; * Flunked the DC Bar Exam and only found employment in Arkansas through Bill’s political connections; * Served on the board of Walmart; * Took political appointments that enhance her resumé; * Took credit for major accomplishments that she does not deserve; * Is totally devoid of any meaningful experience whatsoever in international affairs and diplomacy; * Has no important legislation to her credit after eight years in the Senate, Must be shallow hal night here on YA
NC Pre-employment drug screening? I've had a couple good interviews with a company. I received a call from the HR recruiter and he said - I must complete the drug screening/background check before an offer is made. I was told "there's no point in making an offer when come to find out you fail the screening." Is this legal? I've changed jobs before and it has always been, offer made/accepted - then you go do the screenings/checks.. Did this company violate NC/federal laws? Don't get me wrong, I want the job and will pass any/all tests. I've just always accepted the offer, then a couple days later do the testing/screenings..
Job History Question? Hi. I was curious to know if there was a federal site (or something like that) where I can look up all of my prior employers? Its been a long time since I worked outside my home. I have been a stay at home mom for most of the last 12 years. Now that my girls are getting older I would like to find employment but not sure if I qualify for ANYTHING anymore. I cant seem to remember some of the dates and prior employers that I had, and don't want to try and create a resume with the wrong information. Please Help. Thank you so much for your time..
My new place of employment will fail if we get inspected! How sould I fix it? I just got a new job...and i totally stepped into a pile of pooh! Seriously... nothing in up to code or done according to regulation. I have never managed anyone bofore and now I find my self having to change how 8 people have been working for ever. Hmm.. to make things worse the owner for the (very small) company knows that things are not being done correctly and that it will take too long to do it right... at least in his eyes. Should I have a sit down with everyone and try to change everying at one (the inspection from the federal government could be any day) or should I change one thing at a time till it is all taken care of? My position is basically to make sure that all the production and testing is in accordance to federal reguations
IRS CID Special Agent Acquitted of Tax Fraud, what do you think of this verdict? Former IRS CID Special Agent Joseph Banister Acquitted of Tax Fraud And Conspiracy Government Unable To Prove U.S. Law Requires Income Tax Withholding or Filing http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-5297571003407049929&q=joe+banister Sacramento California -- On Thursday June 23, a federal jury found former IRS Criminal Investigative Division (CID) Special Agent and CPA Joseph Banister not guilty of all counts alleging criminal tax fraud and conspiracy related to actions he took on behalf of a California business owner who had openly defied the IRS over several years by stopping withholding of all income and employment taxes from the paychecks of his workers. During the trial the Department of Justice was unable to put forth any evidence that Banister had either engaged in a conspiracy or had acted unlawfully when he shared legal research with business owner Al Thompson concluding that he had no legal obligation to withhold taxes from his workers or when he (Banister) prepared corrected tax returns for Thompson claiming his taxable income was, under U.S. law, zero. During the trial, Banister's former supervisor at IRS’s San Jose CID office, Robert Gorini (who testified via video recording) when pointedly asked, was unable to cite any U.S. law that required Banister to pay income taxes. Banister, who was forced to resign in 1999 after questioning IRS officials about their legal authority, gave Thompson’s worker’s a presentation in 2000 which reviewed his detailed investigative research of U.S. tax law which concluded that not only did the IRS lack any authority to impose income taxes on the workers, but there was no legal requirement for the business to withhold any taxes from the worker's paychecks. Banister is part of a nationwide effort seeking to force the U.S. Government to respond to a series of detailed legal Petitions for Redress of Grievances directly challenging the authority of the IRS. Last summer, the We The People Foundation initiated a landmark lawsuit with 2000 plaintiffs against the government because it has refused to answer the Petitions. The Right-To-Petition lawsuit, of which Banister is a plaintiff, is the first time in history that U.S. courts have been asked to define the meaning of the final ten words of the First Amendment. Court documents for the RTP lawsuit and scholarly research regarding the Right to Petition can be downloaded from the Lawsuit Information Center on www.GiveMeLiberty.org. Following the verdict, Banister was greeted by a throng of WTP supporters and members of his family. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Drowning in loans.? Can anyone give me practical advice to get myself out of debt? I currently have two federal student loans and one private student loan which sum up to around 90,000 to pay off. I cannot find full time employment and am currently unemployed. The loans are accumulating and I seem to be falling into an endless hole. Help Please someone help!!
Why are the deprived or what we consider deprived discriminated against for meeting the legal requirements.? A person is deprived or legally found to be deprived under federal and stat laws for housing, employment, education and benefits. Because of this status they discriminatred against for what most times can not be help such as lossing everything in a fire or flood and being forced to moved into a shelter to being focred into homelessness because the rent is increased and welfare will not pay the increased rent or from false claims causing eviction due to a dispute of services, practices or policies. In education to carry the stigma of an income that meets one level but not another causing placement in a undergraduate program or failure to meet schools loans requirements or having a job that seem to be enough to live off but does not meet the need for lights, gas, electric or food. Finally after all of this cast aside because something is never enough not because the attempt was never made or better but because the system is made that way to fail or fall and give up. This is America?
Should I find a new job? I have been at my job 12 years. It is a large federal institution and I work as a registered nurse. I am finishing my Masters in Nursing with a MBA and thought up until recently that I had the support of my manager and my place of employment. Lately, I have found a sheer lack of involvement. No one is asking what I would like to do with my degree (I currently work in critical care). I am bored with my job, I have been doing it too long and currently I am not utilized in any greater capacity. The money I make is good. The benefits good. But the respect and enthusiasm is not there. I am in a dead end place. Eight more years and I would have been able to have retirement benefits.. Now what? Your thoughts would be much appreciated.
Christians... does the Real ID Act of 2005 really scare you like it scares me? Ok, so the Real ID act of 2005 was hidden in between the "war on terror" and tsunami relief and passed 100-0 in the senate. This act says that by 2008 (they're giving extra time to states who request it until 2009) citizens will need this US ID that contains tons of information (ss#, address, birth info, TRACKING device, etc.) It is OPTIONAL, but those who don't get it won't be able to, among other things, get financial services/bank accounts, employment, be able to ride on airplanes, and won't be able to enter federal buildings. For those of you who read the Bible or are interested in end times sort of stuff, this seems all too familiar. Ironically enough, where is all this found? In addition, the federal Social Security Administration, (42 USC section 666! (28)), requires the States to maintain a new hire directory. Employers would no longer be able to accept, or ultimately hire, bearers of non-compliant documents for employment. W/o this card you have no money or job
Can you believe this U.S. Taxpayers Fund Illegal Immigrant Assimilation Program ? The United States government has launched a massive assimilation campaign for immigrants—legal and illegal—that offers all “newcomers” a variety of free programs financed by American taxpayers. Initiated in 2006 by the Bush Administration, the costly federal immigrant assimilation program continues to expand, offering free English classes and a new bilingual government web site promoting everything that America has to offer. Featuring a large photo of the Statue of Liberty and a welcome letter from President George W. Bush, the informative web site promotes the nation’s federal benefit programs such as free health insurance for the needy (Medicaid), food stamps and free public education for all (stressing all) children, regardless of immigration status. The web site also helps immigrants find childcare, housing and employment and there is an elaborate section on finances and obtaining free legal assistance for immigration-related situations. A portion of the site is also dedicated to American history and demographics as well as U.S. civics. The government started this publicly funded campaign last year by establishing a new task force and publishing a guide for new immigrants in multiple languages. The U.S. Office of Citizenship also holds regional training sessions for teachers and immigrant-rights groups to help integrate newcomers with free English and civics classes throughout the country. One national group that tracks and opposes illegal immigration perhaps summarized the thoughts of many Americans whose tax dollars are being applied to helping those in the country illegally. "Any time an illegal immigrant comes in contact with the U.S. government, the result should be deportation," said one of the group’s officers. http://www.judicialwatch.org/blog/u-s-taxpayers-fund-immigrant-assimilation-program
why did the government raid this guys home ? A 9/11 toxic dust whistleblower, a ground zero hero and one of the individuals influential in the release of documents proving a government cover-up that deliberately put police, firemen and rescue personel at risk, has been raided by a New York SWAT team - who ransacked his home for three hours after he was arrested. Major Mike McCormack is a hospital technician and civil air patrol pilot who worked the ground zero site for eight days after the collapse of the twin towers. He is one of the real heroes of 9/11 and was the man who found the American flag that was later displayed as a token of unity atop the rubble. Within hours McCormack was coughing up black mucus and within days he was coughing up blood as the toxic dust that was deliberately covered up by the EPA poisoned his lungs along with all the other rescue workers, police and firemen who were being used in photo ops by Bush and his cronies while their very livelihoods were being endangered by a government cover-up. McCormack now suffers from an extreme respiratory sensitivity, has a 5-millimeter metal nodule in one lung and has been forced to give up his passion of scuba diving. McCormack is part of an organization lobbying Congress to demand a response from the federal government to the toxic dust cover-up and just compensation for the heroes of 9/11 who were deserted by their own government while the Bush administration had the audacity to use the attacks to fulfil a pre-determined political agenda by exploiting the unity created by the events of that day. McCormack now describes himself as "permanently ill" as a result of the "death sentence" that was imposed on him via the toxic dust cover-up and sees it as only a matter of time before he "takes the dirt nap," just as some of his friends who worked with him at ground zero have already done. McCormack currently occupies a high position of employment in security with the federal government which at the moment he prefers not to divulge. He has many friends who were affected by the ground zero toxic dust, including New York City police and state troopers. McCormack was part of the anniversary ceremonies on September 11 2006 and provided many hand-shaking photo-ops for numerous politicians, before returning to his family home in Pennsylvania that night. McCormack returned to his New York home the next morning in preparation to visit ground zero once again. On the morning of September 12, McCormack's tenant opened the door to see half a dozen detectives outside who began asking questions and demanding to search the building. The detectives didn't have a warrant and needed McCormack's signature to conduct the search. Having nothing to hide and wanting to assist the police, McCormack signed the paper and the detectives entered the house. "Three minutes later as I'm walking out of my office with one of the detectives, I have a federal SWAT team that comes in....men in black and all of a sudden they have 9 millimeter handguns and MP5 machine guns aimed at my head," McCormack told the Alex Jones Show. McCormack was ordered to leave the building as the 15-strong Darth Vader like SWAT team members verbally abused him and commenced ransacking his house for up to three hours "like a cyclone." The reason for the raid was said to be as a result of a complaint that the odor of chemicals was smelled coming from the house. McCormack was essentially being treated as a potential terrorist. McCormack had mistakenly left a legally owned unloaded gun in the trunk of his car before traveling back from Pennsylvania. Thinking that the 48 hour out of state law applied he planned to return the gun to Pennsylvania the next day. Not wanting to take the gun down to ground zero he felt the safest place to put it would be the house. The gun was subsequently discovered by the SWAT team. Through a selectively enforced loophole McCormack is now being charged with illegal possession of a weapon because he took the gun out of state. "The detective who arrested me told me that he had actually seen my photo in New York Newsday that past Thursday - he knew that I was a ground zero hero and the bottom line is finding that weapon unloaded - running the numbers - knowing the gun was legal if he was a decent human being he would have said 'give me 24 hours I will mail it to your house in Pennsylvania where it's legal - you have your permit'," said McCormack. During the course of the raid, the SWAT team members and detectives interrogated McCormack on his possession of gas masks and biochemical protection suits, despite the fact that these are standard inventory for an individual in McCormack's line of work and despite diplomas hanging on his wall describing government training in biochemical casualty programs. The SWAT team also accused McCormack of making chemicals in his barbeque grill. McCormack's tenant, who questioned the officials' behavior during the raid, was "taken to federal jail and nobody has heard from him since," according to McCormack.
I want to use an employment agency to get a part-time job. How can they help me? I need a little income for a small church I am helping to start. I have found the federal agency to not be of use, and want to go to a private agency. I was wondering how I should approach this. I desperately wish to get a foot in the door, so I am not concerned with paying them, but just want employment. I am in an unusual situation, in which I believe I have some strong assets, but also have liabilities. These liabilties involve not having much work experience, and I am 50. My main job experience was as a college history adjunct, but this pays really less than minimum wage and requires unpaid commuting. I am therefore not looking to teach, but feel I have good writing, communication skills, and could be marketable. I am looking at the best way to approach the agency. Is it likely they can help me? I expect menial work, and thought an agency could get me started with some job. So far I have been unable to find one myself. Any comments, suggestions appreciated.
I am a recipient of social security disability benefits.? I am wanting to return to work and have contacted several local, state and federal agencies for assitance in obtaining employment. Having a disability, and retuning to the work force after a 10 year absence creates some unsual circumstances most job seekers don't have to face. After my contact with these government agencies I was left with little or no assitance in finding a "career" oreintated position. I even contacted the "ticket-to-work" program that is endorsed by the Social Security Administration itself. I was told that very few disabled citizens looking to return to work are offered more than minimum wages positions. I have a house payment and other expenses and minimum wage won't support that. I'm not asking for a $50K salary, but one that I can pay my bills with. Any suggestions?
And you wonder why undocumented immigrants dont pay taxes? Posted: July 26, 2007 1:00 a.m. Eastern By Bob Unruh © 2007 WorldNetDaily.com The Internal Revenue Service has lost a lawyer's challenge in front of a jury to prove a constitutional foundation for the nation's income tax, and the victorious attorney now is setting his sights higher. "I think now people are beginning to realize that this has got to be the largest fraud, backed up by intimidation and extortion and by the sheer force of taking peoples property and hard-earned money without any lawful authorization whatsoever," lawyer Tom Cryer told WND just days after a jury in Louisiana acquitted him of two criminal tax counts. And before you consign him to the legions of "tin foil hat brigades" who argue against paying taxes, and then want payment to explain how to do that, he addresses the issue up front. "These snake oil peddlers have conned millions of dollars out of many well-intended patriots and left a trail of broken lives in their wake. … These charlatans should be avoided, not only because they will lead you to bankruptcy and prison, but because by association they discredit those who are telling the truth," he said. The truth, he said, is where he comes in, with the launch of a new Truth Attack website that is intended to build on his victory, and create a coalition of resources to defeat – ultimately – the income tax in the United States. Although the legal citations in the case tend to run the length of paragraphs, Cryer told WND the underlying issue is not that complicated. Essentially, he argued that income is not necessarily any money that comes to a person, but rather categories such as profit and interest. He said the free exchange of labor for compensation has been upheld as a right by the Supreme Court, but that doesn't necessarily make the compensation income. If ever such an argument were to be presented widely, Cryer said, the income to the federal government would plummet. But not to worry, he said, the expenses could be reduced equally by eliminating programs, departments and agencies that also have no foundation in the Constitution. "The Founding Fathers intentionally restricted the taxing powers of the new federal government as a measure of restraint on its size. By exceeding that limited taxing authority the federal government has been able to obtain resources beyond its intended reach, and that money has enabled the federal government to exceed its authority," he said. For example, he said, the Constitution does not empower the federal government to regulate education, or employment, and agriculture, yet it does so. The jury in U.S. District Court in Louisiana voted 12-0 to find Cryer, of Shreveport, not guilty of failure to file income taxes for two years. He had been indicted in 2006 on charges of failing to pay $73,000 to the IRS in 2000 and 2001. The next step in his personal case will be up to the IRS and prosecutors, if they choose to continue the issue, he said. But for the rest of the nation, he's working with Save-a-Patriot, the Free Enterprise Society, Live Free Now and his own Lie Free Zone to spread the message of the truth. "There are three points that are important," he told WND. "There's no law making the average working man liable [for income taxes], there's no law or regulation that allows the IRS to contend that earnings are 100 percent profit received in exchange for nothing, and the right to earn a living through any lawful occupation is a constitutionally protected fundamental right, and it is exempt from taxation." Spokesman Robert Marvin in Washington's IRS office told WND the Internal Revenue Code provides for taxation on salaries or wages, but when pressed for a specific citation, or constitutional provision, he said, "I can't comment." Cryer's encounter with tax law began more than a decade ago when a friend told him the income tax was sham. Cryer started researching, hoping to keep his friend out of trouble. But his conclusions, after years of research, were exactly what his friend told him. He researched not only tax laws, but also the documents pertaining to the drafting of the U.S. Constitution as well as the first income tax. He said throughout his battle, he's offered at every turn to pay taxes if the IRS could show him the authorization, and that never has happened. "The Criminal Investigation Division and Department of Justice both responded only with 'your position is frivolous.' I had never stated a position, so how could they know whether it was frivolous?" he said. "Imagine my sending you a bill for $1,000 and when you call me and ask what the bill was for I simply said, 'that position is frivolous, just write the check and send it in.'" His acquittal, he said, was a precedent because it means "people can see and recognize the truth." He said multiple Supreme Court opinions have affirmed an individual's ownership of his or her own labor, and "exercising your fundamental rights" is not taxable. "It is definitely a trade. What most people receive in the form of wages, salaries or in my case fees that they personally earned for their labor is not received in exchange for nothing." He said there might be a profit that should be taxable, but there might not. "The IRS lets Wal-Mart sell a trillion dollars worth of goods, but they can back out their cost of goods [before being taxed,]" he said. "The IRS considers, in the case of a Wal-Mart wage earner, 100 percent of what he takes in is profit." "But he's using his life, energy and work lifespan, and depleting it as he goes," Cryer told WND. "[Working] is a God-given fundamental right that is protected under the Constitution and can't be taxed any more than exercising freedom of speech." While he waits to see what, if anything, the IRS and Justice Department will do next in his case, he's working to coordinate the groups that are battling taxation as unconstitutional. "I have started a campaign to unify [the work] and we've got a number of organizations that are sponsoring and supporting this campaign," he said. The goal is to get everyone "who is aware of the truth" organized so they can spread the word. He warned without a restoration of constitutional basics, the nation is lost. "Read your Constitution and you will see that the federal role does not include ANY authority to regulate or tax any citizen directly and that WE expressly reserved the right to rule and govern ourselves as States, not as mere political subdivisions," his website says. "The Constitution does not allow the government to run your lives, but the money it is stealing from millions of Americans is the fuel for its over-reaching and kibitzing. Take the money back and we and our states and communities can again be free," he said. Long Story short, income tax is unconstitutional, and yet most undocumented immigrants pay taxes
Clinton Impeachment, did you forget? Clinton Impeachment The impeachment of President Bill Clinton arose from a series of events following the filing of a lawsuit on May 6, 1994, by Paula Corbin Jones in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas. In her complaint initiating the suit, Ms. Jones alleged violations of her federal civil rights in 1991 by President Clinton when he was governor of Arkansas and she was an Arkansas state employee. According to the allegations, Governor Clinton invited Ms. Jones to his hotel room where he made a crude sexual advance that she rejected. After Ms. Jones filed the lawsuit, the attorneys for President Clinton moved to delay any proceedings, contending that the Constitution required that any legal action be deferred until his term ended, an issue ultimately decided against the President by the Supreme Court of the United States in its decision of Clinton v. Jones, 520 U.S. 681 (1997). Following the Supreme Court decision allowing the Jones lawsuit to proceed, pre-trial discovery commenced in which various potential witnesses were subpoenaed for information related to the Jones incident and, over objections of the President's attorneys, Mr. Clinton's alleged sexual approaches to other women. On April 1, 1998, Judge Susan Webber Wright granted summary judgment in favor of President Clinton, dismissing the Jones suit in its entirety, finding that Ms. Jones had not offered any evidence to support a viable claim of sexual harassment or intentional infliction of emotion distress. Ms. Jones appealed Judge Wright's decision to the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals, but before a decision on the appeal was rendered, Ms. Jones and the President settled the case on November 13, 1998. The name of Monica Lewinsky, who had worked in the White House in 1995 as an intern, was first included on a list of potential witnesses prepared by the attorneys for Ms. Jones that was submitted to the President's legal team. Image source: CNN.com Ms. Lewinsky's name had been provided to the attorneys for Ms. Jones by Linda Tripp, a former White House employee who had become a confidante of Ms. Lewinsky and had secretly tape recorded various conversations she had with Lewinsky relating to her contacts with the President. On January 12, 1998, Ms. Tripp also provided the tapes of her conversations with Ms. Lewinsky to Independent Counsel Kenneth W. Starr, who had been appointed to investigate charges relating to the Whitewater real estate venture in Arkansas of the President and Mrs. Clinton. On the same day, Ms. Lewinsky's sworn affidavit was sent by her lawyers to the Jones attorneys in which she asserted in part: I have never had a sexual relationship with the President, he did not propose that we have a sexual relationship, he did not offer me employment or other benefits in exchange for a sexual relationship, he did not deny me employment or other benefits for rejecting a sexual relationship. On January 15, Starr obtained approval from Attorney General Janet Reno, who in turn sought and received an order from the United States Court of Appeals, to expand the scope of the Whitewater probe into the new allegations. On the following day, a meeting between Ms. Lewinsky and Ms. Tripp at a hotel was secretly recorded pursuant to a court order, with federal agents then confronting Ms. Lewinsky at the end of the meeting with charges of her perjury and demanding that she cooperate in providing evidence against the President. Ms. Lewinsky initially declined to cooperate, and told the FBI and other investigators that much of what she had told Ms. Tripp was not true. On January 17, President Clinton was deposed in the Jones lawsuit. He denied having "sexual relations" with Ms. Lewinsky under a definition provided to him in writing by her lawyers, and also said that he could not recall whether he was ever alone with her. On January 21, The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times and ABC News reported that Starr had expanded his investigation of the President to include the allegations related to Lewinsky. After repeated media inquiries, on January 26 President Clinton asserted in an appearance before the White House press corps: "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky," and denied urging her to lie about an affair. The President's attorneys failed in efforts to block Starr's expansion of his investigation, which also included whether the President himself had lied under oath in his own deposition taken in the Paula Jones litigation. In July 1998, after being granted sweeping immunity from prosecution by Special Prosecutor Starr, Ms. Lewinsky admitted that she in fact had had a sexual relationship with the President that did not include intercourse, but denied that she had ever been asked to lie about the relationship by the President or by those close to him. On August 17, the President testified for over four hours before Starr's grand jury on closed-circuit television from the White House. In his testimony, he admitted the Lewinsky relationship, but denied that he perjured himself in the Paula Jones deposition because he did not interpret the conduct with Ms. Lewinsky as constituting sexual relations. On the same evening, he appeared on national television and admitted that he had an "inappropriate relationship" with Lewinsky and had misled the American people about it. On September 9, Independent Counsel Starr submitted a detailed report to the Congress in which he contended that there was "substantial and credible information that President William Jefferson Clinton committed acts that may constitute grounds for an impeachment" by lying under oath in the Jones litigation and obstructing justice by urging Ms. Lewinsky "... to to file an affidavit that the President knew would be false". On September 11, the House of Representatives approved House Resolution 525 by a vote of 363 to 63 authorizing a review by the Committee on the Judiciary of the report of the Independent Counsel to determine whether sufficient grounds existed to recommend to the House that an impeachment inquiry be commenced and also approved the public release of the Starr report. On September 21, the Judiciary Committee released nearly 3,200 pages of material from the grand jury proceedings and the Starr investigation, including transcripts of the tesimony of President Clinton and Ms. Lewinsky. On October 8, House Resolution 581 introduced by Congressman Henry J. Hyde, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, was approved by the House in a 258 to 163 vote to authorize and direct the Judiciary Committee to investigate whether sufficient grounds existed for the impeachment of the President. After its staff interviewed various witnesses in private, the Judiciary Committee's public hearings commenced on November 19 with an opening statement by Congressman Hyde followed by additional hearings in which the Committee reviewed the issues and allegations of the Starr report and additional testimony provided by witnesses to its staff. The Committee also heard contrasting views from constitutional experts on the legal basis for impeachment as applied to the factual allegations pertaining to the Lewinsky matter. A motion sponsored by Democrats to adopt a censure resolution as an alternative to the proposed impeachment was defeated on December 8. On December 11 and 12, the Committee approved four articles of impeachment for presentation to the full House, and on December 16 released its full Report supporting its recommendation. After debate, the House approved two of the Articles alleging that the President had provided perjurious, false and misleading testimony to the grand jury regarding the Paula Jones case and his relationship with Monica Lewinsky and that he had obstructed justice through an effort to delay, impede, cover up and conceal the existence of evidence related to the Jones case. After the House vote, President Clinton appeared before the media at the White House, saying in part: I have accepted responsibility for what I did wrong in my personal life. And I have invited members of Congress to work with us to find a reasonable, bipartisan and proportionate response. That approach was rejected today by Republicans in the House. But I hope it will be embraced by the Senate. I hope there will be a constitutional and fair means of resolving this matter in a prompt manner. The Impeachment Trial in the Senate commenced on January 7, 1999, with the announcement by the Sergeant-at-Arms of the presence of the managers on the part of the House of Representatives to conduct proceedings on behalf of the House concerning the impeachment of the President of the United States. After Congressman Hyde read the Articles of Impeachment approved by the House, the Senate then adjourned, reconvening later that day with Chief Justice Rehnquist present, who was sworn in as presiding officer for the trial and who in turn swore in the 100 senators as jurors for the proceedings. The President's case was outlined in the White House Trial Memorandum submitted on January 13, which was countered by the House Rebuttal to White House Trial Memorandum. In subsequent sessions, the Senate voted to adopt a series of motions to limit evidence primarily to the previously video-taped depositions, affidavits and other documents previously introduced, and also voted to close its final deliberations to the public. The Senate voted on the Articles of Impeachment on February 12, with a two-thirds majority, or 67 Senators, required to convict. On Article I, that charged that the President "...willfully provided perjurious, false and misleading testimony to the grand jury" and made "...corrupt efforts to influence the testimony of witnesses and to impede the discovery of evidence" in the Paula Jones lawsuit, the President was found not guilty with 45 Senators voting for the President's removal from office and 55 against. Ten Republicans split with their colleagues to vote for acquittal; all 45 Democrats voted to acquit. On Article II, charging that the President "...has prevented, obstructed, and impeded the administration of justice"..., the vote was 50-50, with all Democrats and five Republicans voting to acquit. Following the vote, President Clinton, in televised remarks from the
How can anyone be pro-illegal immigrant? How is it possible to firstly advocate criminal activity- whether it be a Federal Offence- including smuggling, trespassing, their employment etc. 2- how to ignore the facts. They are mainly undocumented- thus they have no tax number-thus they pay no tax=> THUS they make no input into governmental coffers. Simple. 3- the US National Research Council's study "The New Americans: Economic, Demographic, and Fiscal Effects of Immigration." found Latin American immigrants, were a net cost in terms of taxes paid versus social services received. Crime: 95% of all outstanding warrants for homicide (1,200 to 1,500) target illegal aliens in LA 66% of felony warrants (17,000) are for illegals aliens. Hispanics accounted for 46% of all gang members. Amnesty, has been tried in both an industrial-strength version in 1986, and in more limited doses ever since — and it was a clear total failure. The Mexican government even reported 68% of Mexicans entering US are illegal, 55% use coyotes
