Is there any assistance for a qualified person to get a Federal job? In this present economy most job applications are submitted online. With this being the case if someone is interested in Federal employment without some assistance the resume could end up in a black hole. Like all industries there is the proper terminology for the resume that an outsider like myself is not aware of. I know I am not alone in this mystery and many agencies say they can help but of course there is a fee. Being presently unemployed finances are limited. Any assistance would be appreciated.I would share this information with others and assist in their job search.
Does joining the peace corps prevent you from getting a federal job? Does joining the peace corps prevent you from getting a federal job? I heard that after being a volunteer in the Peace Corps you are disqualified from attaining a security clearance and therefore ineligible for many types of federal employment and military service. I'm asking because I would like to join the FBI after my service.
Is there still a German Federal Employment Agency online job fair for IT? I found the site here http://www.germany.info/Vertretung/usa/en/04__Legal/03__FAQ/Visa/__FAQ__Visa.html saying that the German Federal Employment Agency has set up an online job fair, due to the shortage of IT skills in Germany. A bit of research and it seems this shortage was back in 2003/2004. Do you know if there is still an online job fair for foreigners to find an IT job in Germany? And what the link for this is? Also what is the IT job market like in Germany currently?
Federal Employment(GS Job)? Hi, I'm currently in the military and plan on getting out short of the required 20 years in order to become a "GS". The questions I have are: 1) If I get a job, will I be required to move? I lived in europe and was told they have to move every 5 years, no if ands or buts. 2) I will have 13 years in the military. When I switch over to the darkside, how many more years will I have to work before I can retire? 3) How is retirement pay calculated? Same and the military such as 50% at 20 years, 75% at 30? 4) How difficult is it to get a GS job? I'm hoping my time in the military helps me with this. 5) Most important. Is it worth it over a normal civilian job? Thank you in advance. David
Fastest way to obtain SF-50 form for federal employment? I previously worked for the Dept of Defense, a few years ago and I'm applying for a new federal job which is requesting a SF-50 form. As far as I know, I have to send a written request to personnel archives, so this could take over a week. Is that the only way? Please answers only from people with the experience to know the answer off hand.
Fingerprints for federal employment? I have to have my fingerprints taken as part of a criminal background screening for a federal job. I have no criminal background. Will previous inquiries/fingerprints taken by previous employers show up on the report?

Federal employment out of school good? I just got a job working for the federal government as a clerk. I also just graduated with my bachelors degree? Is this a good job to stay in and to get just being out of school?
What is a Appointee for a Federal job? I am applying for a full time federal job being a Border Patrol Agent and as I am filling out the Declaration for Federal Employment questionaire, it asks for the Applicants Signature and/or Appointees Signature. From what I understand, an appointee is someone who already has a federal job who is transitioning to another federal job. I am a federal employee for the BLM but my job is categorized as temporary. Once my term is up the Govt is not obligated to continue my employment. Based on this, am I or am I not an Appointee? How shall I finish filing out my application? Thanks
Is this ad within the federal guidelines for employment practices? The following advertisement appeared in a local newspaper. We are looking for energetic, recent graduates who have an MBA degree and at least five years of working experience in the field of general management. This job will involve some overnight travel on a regular basis-an understanding family is a must. Is this ad within the federal guidelines for employment practices?
Those of you with federal government jobs: How long did the hiring process take? The federal government is notorious for having a very long and drawn out hiring process. It isn't uncommon for a person to apply for a job in January and not hear anything until May or June. After submitting a resume through USAjobs, filling out the occupational questionnaire, making the selection list and participating in a second interview how long does it usually take after this interview for the government to reach a hiring decision? Would you share some of the experiences you have had with federal government employment? I'm specifically concerned about FCIP (federal career intern position) programs

Can I take my time on the job in a state job with me if I take a federal job? I currently work as a state employee and am in the process to get a new job as a federal employee. Someone told me that they thought I could take my time on the job in state employment with me to the federal job. They said everything including sick time, vacation time, retirement, seniority, etc. would all transfer or roll over to the federal job; they were pretty sure someone else they knew had done it in the past. Also, if this is possible to take my time, would it be of any more benefit to buy back some time that I have worked but do not currently have credit for? Any more questions or details needed, please ask.
Federal employment opportunities for green card holders? How difficult is it for legal alien green card holders to gain employment in the US federal government? I plan to emmigrate to the USA with my American wife and have been searching for jobs. Does an employment job application asking criminal history 7 year rule apply to felony conviction? We live in California: my friend asked me a question I am not intelligent enough to answer. The question is, he was convicted of a felony in 1989 it was federal not state and then sentenced 1991 of January did jail time for about 7 years and 10 months for drugs then he was released and started supervised release until 2002 of February completing it with no incidents then the supervised release ended. He has had alot of jobs along the way and is a hard worker and now he has applied for a job a few weeks ago where the employer's application asked have you been convicted of a felony in the last (7 years)? naturally his answer was no which is the truth! so then he was taken to their own building not law enforcement and did a finger print scan to send off to the Department Of Justice to verify this, he noticed the form had two check off boxes one the official paper work that had check boxes (DOJ) was checked Department Of Justice. The other was not check off (FBI) so what is normally believed is that if a person is ask on an application whether they were convicted of a felony in the last 7 years by law that information cant be excepted or viewed by the company requesting more further than 7 years prior to the year 2008. If this is seen anyway and my friend is dismissed wouldn't that be illegal? aren't there laws that are made to protect a person that did his punishment and came back out to society and has been working and abiding by the law all these years, doesn't he have a right to live as anyone else that abides by the law too? or is it just OK for the president to pardon felons friends of his which is OK but what about us citizens? don't we have the same opportunities are at least if not pardoned given another chance at life! This person was younger and made an unintelligent decision and did not murder someone. Anyway the question is will the past come back to haunt him? is it ethical for a company to acquire records that they propose not to be concerned with and is it legally binding for the company not to go any further back than the prescribed 7 years? is there a chance of a law suit against the company if they get the report back with a conviction record and dismiss him? this is a privet owned company not state owned and provides transportation for citizens.
I have a question in regards 2 a job I may be offered, and I need some help.? I'm in the Nat'l Guard and I just found out today that I will be leaving for training for 5 1/2 months beginning March 23rd. Well, about a month ago I applied for a job with the Veteran's Administration and went to an interview about a week ago. Everything seems fine with that, and they are currently checking my references and background. I'm assuming that I will be offered the job, and I'll find out in about 2 weeks. If I do get the job, I won't be able to start for about another week (you can only start federal jobs at the beginning of the pay period). So, as this whole thing drags out, I would be looking at starting maybe the end of Feb, beginning of March. This is really close to my training date of March 23rd. My ? is this: Should I let them know that I have training coming up and basically nix my chances for employment, or do I follow through and take advantage of the situation and get hired on, then tell them, when they are legally obligated to let me leave.
Sexual harassment complaint. Got fired from federal job. Will I be red flagged for future gov.employ? I was automatically terminated after being accused of asking a plant employee for sex. (not true) anyway I was on my first year probationary period. Two days prior to my one year a female summer worker who I worked beside and chatted with goes to HR saying she can't work around me because I wanted to ***f her. In a chicken plant the gossip is like wild fire and thier is alot of sex between co-workers. As a USDA inspector we are not permitted to assoaciate with plant employies at all. (I think the boyfriend of the girl put her up to it to get me fired or transfered) Everybody knew it was a set up. So I got the good ole Texas style, yankie, white boy go home via termanation papers. MY QUESTION IS: Will I be red flagged for future goverment employment evan if I apply to different agency. Can USDA human resourses coment on my termanation. To say I was let go during my probationary period would be ok. I'm afraid that I might me unhirable if I'm labled a sexual liability?

Federal Employment earned leave rate? I retired from the military last year. I do not have a disability, and was not in the middle east during active duty. I now have a job with the federal government and I'm earning 4 hours of annual leave per pay period. I was reading the manuals and I think this is correct. People I work with are telling me I should be earning more leave, but I didn't discharge, I retired. Does anyone know for sure if 4 hours is correct? I only have six months in the job. Thanks.
I need help writing a good appeal letter for denial of employment? I applied for a federal job but turns out that when they ran my background I had felonies and misdemeanors. I've never been to jail or been in trouble with the law in any way. I did have my friend run criminal background check and nothing came up. I need to write a letter of appeal but I don't know where to start. PLEASE HELP.
Is this a "Mutual Agreement" in regaurd to Federal employment? I just filled out my background check information and there was a question that said, "Have you been fired, quit after being told that you would be fired or left in mutual agreement, from a previous job?" I said yes because I was sort of fired from my last job a day before my end of season, but my boss said it would only say that it was my end of season. I elaborated in the box saying I was tired from a rigorous school load 5 days a week and work the remaining two. Should I just have said no?

What do the scores mean when applying for federal jobs? I recently applied for a federal job at the GS-05 level and recieved the following email regarding my score: You are eligible for employment at: Grade Total Score / Vet Pref GS-05: 96 / (NV) What does the information mean? Is the 96 out of 100? Do they contact you for an interview? What is the hiring process like?
Can you seek employment with the government with a dismissed charge? About 7 years ago when I was 17 I got caught with a fake Id,anyways I had a deferred sentence and completed the 1yr. probationary period and the charge was dismissed. Therefore, I was never convicted of a crime. (but I was charged) So my question is if I wanted to apply for a federal job say like the post office or ups or a federal prison am I eligible for employment? P.S. this is a misdemeanor crime
I am a college student interested in a career with the federal govt in MI. Where can I find a career mentor? I would like to be able to speak with someone specifically about the Student Temporary Employment Program or similar programs geared toward helping students find jobs with federal agencies. I am especially interested in the following agencies or ones similar: *Veteran's Administration *Immigration and Naturalization *Customs and Border Protection *Environmental Protection Agency I realize that I am limited by the fact that I live in Michigan and not D.C. or somewhere else there is a concentration of federal agencies. However, Detroit has an international border, enormous poverty, and the Great Lakes to protect - I'd be willing to bet that there are plently of federal interests here. I understand that there are difficulties associated with finding a federal job (competitiveness, for instance) but what I am looking for is, again, information SPECIFIC to college students seeking government jobs. Thank you for looking!
Federal Government employment? I just received a job offer with the federal government, and reading the details of the job announcement it says that candidates will be required to complete a form OF-306 prior to employment. My concern is question #9 on the form. Several months ago I received a public intoxication fine and I was jailed for a few hours as well. It was a class C misdemeanor, and actually quite a trap that the city set up. The apparently passed new laws which prohibits drinking alcohol in a certain park near a very popular river...that seemed to round up many people and take them to jail for this...quite the income maker for the city. Anyhow, I will disclose this of course on the form, but I am curious as to whether that will affect my job offer....any thoughts?
criminal record and federal employment? I would like to know if you have a misdemeanor conviction can you still get hired for a governmennt job?. If so is there a certain "time spent" since the conviction before you can apply to the job? Does somone know what web site I can go to find out more info?
Could Obama get a job at the FBI or even the post office? Given Obama's radical associations to William Ayers and Reverend Wright along with his trip to Kenya to endorse Muslim radical Raila Odinga, could Obama pass a typical background check required for federal employment? If doubts enter the mind, then how can this man be commander-in-chief?
Stay with the Govt job or move on to Private Sector? If you currently working for the Federal Government but are unhappy with your job (and the pay) would you leave the job in search of employment in the private sector? (Please consider the current state of the economy.)
CAN YOU GET HIRED IN THE FEDERAL GOVT? GETTING A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT JOB SAVE ALL AGENCY DOCUMENTATION PERTAINING TO BEING OVERLOOKED BY GOVT AGENCIES AND FILE A CONGRESSIONAL WITH YOUR CONGRESSIONAL STATE REPRESENTATIVES. KEEP ALL AGENCY DOCUMENTATION FOR PROOF TO WIN YOU CASE. Yes your battle will be well worth the fight. Keep all documentation received from agencies pertaining to the status of your app. Once you have gained more than enough proof that you are definitely being overlooked for positions, go online if need be to fing your House or Senate Representative and write a cover letter with explicit detail to your circumstances regarding federal employment so that we can discuss how to prepare your packet for a congressional investigation as to why your government will not hire you. Congress was establish to assist the public with public issues such as this, beleive me they do work for us. I personally have written Congress and was answered concerning my VA benefits. They work for us because we voted them into office. Also, remember, President Obama said his administration would be held accountable for their actions, hold them to thier duties. Dont drop the ball or you may never land a position with federal government. They look over veterans like myself just like they overlook a bum on the street corner, no difference.

What is the best resume structure? I am a seasoned job seeker looking for Federal employment. I wanted to know what is the best type of resume to use. Should I use the bullet or paragraph style for structuring my resume? What is the most popular style?
Does WSJ mean there are only 6 million employment ppl in the states? I read below words on today's WSJ.com. The rise in the jobless rate to 5% from 4.7% in November -- and an increase of only 18,000 in nonfarm jobs, the worst performance in four years -- adds pressure on the Federal Reserve to swallow its concerns about inflation and cut interest rates more steeply later this month. If 18,000 jobs account for 0.3% of employment market, does this mean the whole market only provides 6 million jobs? Someone pls reason this to me. Thanks.
How do I know if I have employment authoriztion? I'm trying to get a job for the first time. I'm filling out an application right now for WinCo FOODS. There is a question that asks, "Can you, after an offer of employment has been made, submit verification of your legal right to work in the U.S.? (Federal Law requires proof of identity and employment authorization for all new hires.)" I have a driver's license to prove identity but how do I prove that I have employment authorization?
How long will klonopin show up in a urine test? I took some .5mg klonopin last week. The last time was wednesday of last week. I have an Rx but it is from about 8 months ago and was for 15 .5mg klonopins. The drug test is tommorrow, and is for pre employment. It is not a state or federal job, it is for an IT position. Am I good if I have the 8 month old Rx? Please note that I did not take it for recreational use.
Federal government ideal employee of the handicapped? According to a N.Y. Times report the federal government is losing more disabled Americans that regular Americans at a rate of 18.7% decrease in the disabled American catagory and only a 6.9%% decrease for all other employees. The Federal government claims every October to be National Handicapped awareness month. It's the big photo opportunity for politicians to have their pictures taken with the president and a lucky two or three disabled Americans that were hired to positions that took four and eight year degrees to get that job. It's a good ol' boys club to get a federal job. The President's Ticket To Work Program was supposed to give disabled Americans another avenue of employment to the already dozen or so ways to get hired. The persons that work for Ticket to work all got jobs to help disabled Americans find work. The work was given to the workers at Ticket to work and disabled Americans assume the position. Remember, I am of a minority that any American can join in seconds.
How hard would it be to get a Federal Government job if you used to smoke Maijuana? I'll be honest... I used to smoke it pretty heavily back in my late teens/early twenties, but haven't touched it in a few years. I am currently studying Forensic Science and I love it. I would like to gain employment with the local FBI. I know that they do extensive back ground checks and poly exams... I have no criminal record and have only had one speeding ticked, if that matters. I have a great GPA and aside from working on a Forensic Science Degree, I am also minoring in Psychology... anyone have any advice?? Thanks. Just wanted to say thank you to all whom posted back!!! You have been most helpful and all is appericiated!! Thanks! Wow! I have gotten alot of answers to my question. You all have been most helpful and I appericiate all the serious answers. Its been about 8 years since I've smoked... to answer some questions there. And I think I am going to start checking into State Goven't agencies and wait or maybe do some internships here and there. I plan on doing Forensic Lab work to answer alot of questions also. Thanks again~!
How much detail do I need to disclose for an expunged charge on a job application? I was arrested for a minor marijuana (minor misdemenor) charge on my 19th birthday (7 years ago) at my undergradute university. The charge was lessened to "disorderly conduct" and then EXPUNGED a year later. Now I am graduating with a masters degree, have kept a clean record, and am applying for competitive jobs. Even though my record is "clean", I have decided that I will disclose the arrest on job appications, for the sake of honesty, but I'd much rather stick to 'disorderly conduct' as opposed to "possession of marijuana". Since I was arrested for possession, but charged with DC, can the employer somehow review the arrest record? The jobs I am applying for require a pre-employment drug screening (which I can pass) and I dont want my application to be discarded because I have a "drug" arrest, but not a "drug" charge. As a side note, my ability to get federal student financial aid was unafffected by the arrest, meaning it is NOT a "drug charge"
I have 2 jobs, they are both considered full time, my primary employment being with a large company? And my second job I am self employed. I usually come pretty close to 40 or more hours a week on my second job. What I am not sure about is I want to hold back enough Federal & State taxes so that I don't end up paying at the end of the year, but I don't want a large refund either. I am one who likes to have their money weekly. None of that refund stuff for me. I want my money now. My employer deducts Fed, state, local, medicare & social security so will I have to do that with my SE taxes as well or will I be pretty much covered? And I find many calculators but none where I can use both employer taxes and SE taxes? Any suggestions? Anyone know of any loopholes I can look into. I have 3 children and I take care of a disabled aunt as well. Okay, to clarify this alittle more. I am both self employed and I work for a large firm. I know that when you work for someone else, your employer matches a portion of your tax deductions. When you are self employed you have to pay those yourself. I would like to be able to fix it so that my employer is paying my taxes and on my self employed job, I don't have to pay as much taxes without oweing a lot at the end of the year. Is that alittle clearer?
Federal Jobs? If you are hired for a federal position in any branch of the goverment; For your first year of employment where you are required to serve a 1 year probationary term, is it pretty much inevitable that management or other individuals will highly criticize your performance reviews, and/or illegitamately try to find ways to make it appear that you cannot do your job in an attempt to get you laid off and/or fired? I am in my first year of a federal position, and this one manager really has it out for me, even though I meet my job requirements, am never late, have not been absent once yet, am respectful polite and understanding to him, listen to what he tells me to do, and he still finds crooked ways to lower my performance reviews. He recently stated that I will be fired if I don't improve my performance within the next 5 days. I've talked to him, and he is very evasive, doesn't answer my questions directly, and continually tries to beat around the bush when I ask questions, and for help. ?
Can I be hired for a federal law enforcement position despite a previous instance of depression? I'm applying for a federal law enforcement position and have already been given a formal offer of employment. However the offer of employment is contingent on me passing the medical records check (physical) and FBI background check. The medical records check asks if I ever had an "emotionally stressed or mental condition, and if I had even seen a psychatrist." Over 6 years ago I did see a psychatrist (1 time) because I was feeling homesick in my first year of college. She prescribed me an anti-depressant which I took for about 5-6 months. I haven't seen a psychatrist (or any type of counselor) or been on any medication since that single time. Do you think this will still prevent me from getting the job? Has anyone been in this situation before?
Vets - Suggestions for finding a job after military life? If you are a Vet looking for a job there are several websites. Let’s start here. You need to prepare a perfect resume and you need to research how to do this. Gone are the days of the one pagers. Don’t be redundant, but write about each of your jobs and your accomplishments. As you read about a job description, tailor your resume and use the buzzwords when describing your past employment. Now, go to Military.com. They will help you research writing your resume. You can also search for jobs in the private and federal sectors. Federal jobs can also be found on USAJobs.gov. Monster.com also helps your write resumes and look for jobs. Why are federal jobs good other than the great pay, advancement, benefits and retirement? As a Vet you are eligible for preferential hiring. State in your cover letter you are eligible under the Veteran’s Readjustment Act. (Research the VRA because you have to have served under certain conditions.) You also receive extra hiring points. If the position requires a degree, you are exempt under the VRA. Stay in the Reserve and earn a second retirement. As a federal employee you can take time off for drills, AT, and deployments without fear of reprisals from your employer – which is unlawful, but happens. You can also pay a percentage of your military time towards your federal retirement. Get hired as a Vet with 10 years active duty and you will have 11 years service after your first year on the job. That will really boost your retirement and cost very little. Usually 7% of your base pay per year you want credited. Employers really like Vets. Don’t forget to describe your leadership and accomplishments in your resume. There are also civilian contractor positions overseas that pay a lot, but have little career potential. Remember, always do your homework. Research resumes, job hunting, as well as the company and position you are applying for. Good luck and thank you for serving your country. Any other suggestions to share?
If I have 3 misdemeanors and charges were dropped can I get a job with a Federal company in Miami? I was arrested and charged with 3 misdemeanors in 2007. All charges were droppped in May of 2008 and I was not convicted. I applied at a company at Miami Airport at which time I showed them the court documents of the dismissal and told them the truth, I did not lie on the application. Today I received a call from the company asking me what the charges were for. I then explained and they asked if it was for a felony or a misdemeanor. What is the difference between a felony or a misdemeanor? Will a misdemeanor affect my employment possibilities even if I was found not guilty? Can anyone help me with these questions. Thanks.
Job opportunities for 20 year retiring military...? Looking to retire here in Denver Colorado after 20 years. Would like to obtain employment as a contractor, federal/government job, GS job, work on the base etc... What are good avenues to start pursueing a job? Thanks for you assistance.
Employment Law? Health and Safety Regulations. Denton and Carlo were employed at an appliance plant. Their job required them to do occasional maintenance work while standing on a wire mesh twenty feet above the plant floor. Other employees had fallen through the mesh; one was killed by the fall. When Denton and Carlo were asked by their supervisor to do work that would likely require them to walk on the mesh, they refused due to their fear of bodily harm or death. Beause of their refusal to do the requested work, the two employees were fired from their jobs. Was their discharge wrongful? If so, under what federal employment law? To what federal agency or department should they turn for assistance?
What criminal history information is available if the Target Corporation ran a background employment check? I know there are federal and state laws governing this issue. I'm wondering exactly what information is disclosed during a background check. I'm asking because I was a former police officer who got charged with two felonies and two misdemeanors (domestic incident) a month ago. The charges are false and are being fought with an attorney. Don't wanna go into too many details, but all charges will be dropped in the end. The victim doesn't want to testify, and never did. No victim, no case. Anyways, I know that if I applied to be another police officer or work for a Police Agency, they can run a special background check that will show the arrest, but if a private corporation say Walmart, or Target were to run my background for an employment check, only Felony Convictions would show up right? Or would the arrest show up as well? I know the application only says to list convictions, so im not listing anything. I just really want this job!! Pays very well with good benefits! :) Anyone?
Is saving and self employment really worth it? I just finished doing my federal income taxes and although I don't want to disclose the amounts, it seems I owe about 50% in taxes on my extra income! I have a full-time job, taxes are fine on that. I'm talking about my bank account interest and my self employment income. After working extra on the weekends and madly saving for an entire year, it just stinks!
What Are Some Entry Level Federal Law Enforcement Careers? I could take a local or a state job and use that experiance and get in later, but for now I'm wondering what starting/entry level federal jobs are out there in Law Enforcement with the Feds. I already know of a handful. Probation Officer (or Probation Officer Assistant depending on district)... Postal Inspector (did hear it requires a year first in general employment with the postal service, so it's not really 'entry' level)... Border Patrol/INS (though my vision fails their standard)... Secret Service (same as above but it's closer, though I've also heard they only theoretically hire entry level, in practice they only hire those w/ experiance)... What else is there out there that allows entry level into a federal law enforcement job? (IE it has a GS rank or equivalent, and it has either/or arrest powers, firearms cert., or some form of criminal investigative authority). Marshalls and FBI are out since they only hire prior exp or Masters degree, but what about the IRS, etc? Ran out of room... I also know of the capital police in DC, but I'm looking for Fed jobs that work across the whole country not just in DC. (training there is fine, but your whole career being there to me it might as well be a local job) By entry level I also mean it requires between no education and a Bach degree (I have a Bach), and you can get hired if you have less then a year of experiance. If it requires a post-grad degree or more then 1 year job experiance, I consider that non-entry level. However if people want to add jobs that have strict vision or Masters degree requirements feel free, since other people might look here and find that stuff useful even though I don't personally. Thank you, but I was already aware of USAjobs and several other broad job search sites. I wasn't asking for sites or general info or opinions on what people think of federal law enforcement. Those may be good question or answers, but aren't dealing with my specific question here. I am only interested in actual job titles/agencies, not in search/metasearch job sites or opinions on the field as a whole. Nothing wrong with that, it's just I can already find the first on my own, and can formulate my own of the second. Thanks for the BoP one, I didn't realize that was such a good way into the Air Marshalls... the veteran affairs I looked into, but it heavily favors people w/ veterans pref. points in hiring, and I don't have those.
I have a question in regards to a job I may be offered, and I need some help.? My ? is this: Should I let them know that I have training coming up and basically kill my chances for employment, or do I follow through and take advantage of the situation and get hired on, then tell them, when they are legally obligated to let me leave.
seeking a trade job paid by cash only, no paperwork, help? I do not seek employment. employment is a job where you receive federal social security benefits which I do not want. I am looking for a trade where you only get paid in cash, and there is not paperwork with your name on them for the job. some labor job. a job a can learn and it takes some skill in doing. even stuff like construction, what are some good jobs I could seek out that are "under the table"? I am out of "the system", no birth certificate, SS#, driver's license, address, no bank account, nothing to my name. please help. any real suggestions are greatly appreciated. and please don't give advice such as fill out online surveys or some crap. tell me about trades I can do for cash, trades in which I use my hands and it requires some skill that I can learn without formal education. I don't need anything from anyone else except my faith in God. don't give me BS about I need to do this and that, I am asking for help and you people just give me non- answers. if you're not going to help me with this question, please go away. if you could help me, I would greatly appreciate it. I cannot recieve any intangibles nor any priveleges, I only have inherent God - given rights, such as the right to travel on the common ways, no one can baby me and say I do not have my rights. I also have the God -given right to be in complete control of what I earn by my own sweat. if you think otherwise, you are probably a communist.
Is it reasonable to jump from "DS9" in local Washington D.C. gov to "GS12" in Federal government? Let's suppose I'm an employee of the District of Columbia. That's local, not federal employment. With regard to a jump from a city DS 9 to a Federal GS 12: I believe I have more than ample experience as my city rating was set artificially low when I began -- yes, I took it because it offered a lot of opportunities for experience... hence my confidence in qualifying for a similar, but MUCH higher-paying job directly with Uncle Sam. Do the feds (non-military) calibrate D.C. city positions to a particular grade value within their system? How do they regard salary when the advertised Federal position represents a jump of nearly 80% over the applicant's previous local position.
Does anyone know if they will extended federal unemployment? I have been on unemployment for a few months. I am trying very hard to find a job but at my last job, I was there for 7 years and made $40,000 usd a year. I was in sales and now since the market is so down, I cannot expect to find employment with that type of salary. Does anyone know if the government is going to extend unemployment benefits?
College grad seeking USPS employment. Help? What type of jobs are there for college grad in USPS sector.. Mail carriers? or any management or supervising jobs open to people with no USPS experience. It is quite hard to find a Federal job.
Job Facts about illegals? JOBS Job seeking legal immigrants face a myriad of federal restrictions on their employment not faced by illegal aliens. They must get approval and pay thousands of dollars to remain in the country. They are prevented from taking jobs unless they have been offered to citizens first. Further, they cannot be paid less than is offered to an American citizen. The objective of this policy is to ensure that immigrants actually do take jobs that Americans do not want. This law is not implemented for illegal alliens. Illegal immigration is unfair to American citizens and to the immigrants who go to great lengths to enter this country legally. As with other countries, the US needs to document all of its visitors.
federal background check? A job I interviewed with performs a federal background check prior to employment. What exactly shows up on it? It's for top security clearance at Department of Homeland Security..specifically, could they/would they look up things such as online accounts/memberships? As in yahoo! answers, and, ...other sites
Ex-active duty seeking future career with federal government....? I was HONORABLY discharged about 2 years ago from active duty. My reason code on my DD-214 was personality disorder because of the depression I was experiencing at that time, due to events that occured in the military. I am now seeking employment with the Federal Government again, through DFAS, but as a civilian employee. The interview went great, but I know they need to do a background check. Will that reason code prevent me from getting this job?
Job application question, help me out please? It asks me: "Are you eligible to be a voluntary or mandatory registrant under the California Work Opportunities and Responsibilities to Kids Program (CalWORKs), formerly know as the Greater Avenue for Independence Act of 1985 (GAIN)?" I'm 17, applying for my first job and I don't know what that is. Do I put Yes or No? Also: "Are you eligible for or receiving subsidized employment, training, or services funded by the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA), formerly known as the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA)?:"
Should I find a new job? I have been at my job 12 years. It is a large federal institution and I work as a registered nurse. I am finishing my Masters in Nursing with a MBA and thought up until recently that I had the support of my manager and my place of employment. Lately, I have found a sheer lack of involvement. No one is asking what I would like to do with my degree (I currently work in critical care). I am bored with my job, I have been doing it too long and currently I am not utilized in any greater capacity. The money I make is good. The benefits good. But the respect and enthusiasm is not there. I am in a dead end place. Eight more years and I would have been able to have retirement benefits.. Now what? Your thoughts would be much appreciated.
Civilian Employment with Dept of the Navy? I am seeking a civilian IT job with US dept of the navy. Hopefully at US Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland. Is it more than likely that I will be required to get a security clearance if I don't already have one? What if I was once turned down for the interim clearance due to having been in a therapy, and I left my employer (a private contractor in the federal gov) while my investigation was going on for a secret clearance. If by any chance, the navy considers me for clearance, I would have to tell what I did, but with a legitimate reason about having given up on going for secret clearance. Can something like that be an issue with civilian employment in the navy or any other federal government branch? Is it better that I limit myself to local government or private sector? I am currently an IT person in local government, and just that fact probably would mean that I can work in the navy if they decide to trust me with a clearance. I am kind of weary of this need for clearance in the federal government. Is getting clearance such a big obstacle? Is anyone else discourage to pursue federal employment due their issue with getting clearance?
Can you tell me if this employment opportunity is genuine? I have received a job offer from federal medical centre, abuja. I would like to know if this is a genuine offer or a scam as the benifits mentioned are beyond what i expected. kindly let me know whether there is a federal medical center in abuja which claims that it was commissioned by His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, President, Federal Republic of Nigeria ... Other names mentioned in the letter are Ambassador Umaru Dikko as the embassy contact person Mr. Richard Onyemaechi as the chief medical director of Federal Medical Centre Nigeria, Dr Solomon Kalu CEO, ORIENTAL RECRUITMENTS INC Plot 256 Choba Road,Abuja, Nigeria
I want to use an employment agency to get a part-time job. How can they help me? I need a little income for a small church I am helping to start. I have found the federal agency to not be of use, and want to go to a private agency. I was wondering how I should approach this. I desperately wish to get a foot in the door, so I am not concerned with paying them, but just want employment. I am in an unusual situation, in which I believe I have some strong assets, but also have liabilities. These liabilties involve not having much work experience, and I am 50. My main job experience was as a college history adjunct, but this pays really less than minimum wage and requires unpaid commuting. I am therefore not looking to teach, but feel I have good writing, communication skills, and could be marketable. I am looking at the best way to approach the agency. Is it likely they can help me? I expect menial work, and thought an agency could get me started with some job. So far I have been unable to find one myself. Any comments, suggestions appreciated.
Employment length Question? I've heard two different things on disclosing employment. I've heard that if you're at a job for 3 months or less, that its a matter of choice as to if you disclose it or not. I've also heard that there's a federal law that says that if your at a job for 3 months or less than you're under no obligation to disclose it. Is there a law? Yeah I know. My last job I was only at for 3 months and quit. It was in terrible financial shape and I just wasn't comfartable working there. Sure enough, a week after I quit 10% of the company was laid off. Plus, I'm 35 and have been working since I was 15. If I listed all jobs I've had my resume would be 8 pages long at least.
termination from employment - legal or not? I have been on medical leave from a DOT regulated job. Dr's say I can't return to work yet (must pass federal phisical criteria first, first open date to be tested is after short term leave runs out)). Employer says that after short term leave runs out they will terminate my employment regardless of medical condition. Legal or not?
Bankruptcy, Multiple Addresses, and Filing Federal And State Taxes? I need help, Please. I lived in PA my whole life, own a home there. I lost my job 1.5 years ago, and I had to file bankruptcy in april of 2007. For the past 8 months I have been staying with a friend and working in Missouri. But my home is in PA, but been using my friends address for local employment. My question is: Do I file my federal and state taxes for Pennsylvania like I always have? If I do that, and on my PA forms, put down taxes that were paid to MO, or do I have to file MO only, and if I do that, PA will be looking for me for taxes? Or if I do the PA income tax, will MO be after me for a tax return? Also, does my bankruptcy and chapter 13 payment plan affect my tax return at all? I am in need of help. I always do my taxes myself cause I cannot afford to pay an accountant right now. Please help.
Do you think your tax dollars $500,000 should be used to build a day laborer center free job training? taxpayer dollars for a day laborer center to provide illegal immigrants with employment services says a temporary center will open by the end of this month while city officials contemplate two possible sites for the permanent location. When frustrated residents complained that unruly illegal immigrants were ruining their neighborhoods by littering , urinating on walls and sleeping under their porches, D.C. Councilman Harry Thomas offered a costly solution to be financed by the victims—law-abiding taxpayers. He convinced his fellow lawmakers to earmark $500,000 to create a day laborer center, complete with a multicultural facility, restrooms and free job training for those who have violated federal U.S. law by entering and living in the country illegally. Read more at link.http://www.corruptionchronicles.com/2007/07/dc_day_laborer_center_to_open.html Mr. Knowitall, you are kidding me,right ? illegals are now chauffeurs, what about small things like having a Drivers License ,SSN,How do you get an illegal alien on the Insurance plan?

Did anyone know that the federal trade commission dropped the statue of limitation of 7 yrs. from the criminal record? Does anyone realize the effect that this will have on Americans? All of a sudden the U.S.G. creates a manmade crisis that will have over time cause more and more people to be denied employment and housing! Guess whos' going to pay for all of this mess?! And I'am sure this is going to be their answer to the problem! Make us all pay for it! If u don't get what i'am saying let me explain as simple as i can. Say u did somthing stupid 20-30 yrs. ago and its on ur record but have had no problem getting a job or renting or buying housing because companies and landlords did not really do background checks exstinsivley untill after 9/11 wich u were protected under the credit laws after 7 yrs. wich just recently the federal trade commission just dropped without any concern for the millions of people that this is going to effect including those of us thats going to have to pay for this manmade disaster! What are we going to do about this mess they have created? it will efect all of us as a whole-all families will be effected! u dont think the govt caused all this so they could house and feed everyone do u? more tax dollars baby! wake up people!
What do you think about a federal sales tax in place of income tax ? Here's my thoughts.. Income tax in and of itself is counterproductive in a capitalist economy. If the govermnet taxes money before it is spent by the consumer, most of the economic potential of each dollar earned is lost immediatly. If we moved to a federal sales tax system, you would see immediate improvements in the economy and a better balance of wealth overall. Think.... In a federal sales tax system... If I spend 5 dollars, the fed gets paid, so does the waitress I just tipped. So I just created a job, and contributed my fair share... Now the waitress takes that five dollars and she spends it on whatever... The fed just got paid again, she just created another job, and the cycle continues until eventually the entire 5 dollars was taxed back into the fed anyway... but during each purchase it supported the continuation of someones employment, and best of all...> nobody involved with this particular 5 dollars was able to avoid paying their fair share of tax.
