Can a heart transplant prevent me from applying for Federal /Government jobs? I was recently diagnosed with some heart disease (heart Failure) and maybe will need a heart transplant, will these consider as a disability, and can prevent me from applying for Federal / Government jobs?
Those of you with federal government jobs: How long did the hiring process take? The federal government is notorious for having a very long and drawn out hiring process. It isn't uncommon for a person to apply for a job in January and not hear anything until May or June. After submitting a resume through USAjobs, filling out the occupational questionnaire, making the selection list and participating in a second interview how long does it usually take after this interview for the government to reach a hiring decision? Would you share some of the experiences you have had with federal government employment? I'm specifically concerned about FCIP (federal career intern position) programs

Are federal government jobs outside of DC dead end? I am a 23 year old male who is a Geographic Specialist and I work in a federal government agency in Chicago. I have been there for a year and am wondering if federal jobs outside of Washington DC are dead end? Why is it so hard to get a federal government job interview? I am a college graduate and I have applied to many, MANY, government job applications and for some reason I cant even get a single interview. They slam me before i could even get a foot in the door. Federal Government Jobs? I was wondering, what federal government jobs are available for someone who is 19 years of age, going to 20 in October of this year. I want to know what would be best thing to do, where and how. Resume for Federal Government Job? I'm applying for a job with the federal government. It says the application package should include a standard form application OR optional form application OR a resume. My first instinct would always lean to submitting a resume. However, there are very specific things they want on the resume..like high school education even if you have college educ.? That's kind of pointless to me sense it requires a diploma/GED to go to college. Anyway, they also want things like your supervisor's name and address for your previous/current job, you SSN, your citizenship status, and many more odd things that would ruin any resume I've ever made. I'm thinking it would be easier to just do the form and make a quality KSAO document to go with it. Any experience with this would be very helpful. I have Resume and Cover Letter writing guides, but this is for a federal job. Their format and length and pretty much everything is completely different. Federal Government Salary Verification? The Federal job application asks for salary information from all of your previous jobs. Does anyone know if the government verifies salary? I'm not going to lie on my application, but would like to know how to correctly answer this question... Is it acceptable to list your salary to include incentives? For example, if my current company GIVES a guaranteed extra 5% contribution into a 401k plan, can I add this to my salary? Not to be confused, the 5% is NOT a match, rather they give you 5% on top of a match up to 6%. So if I decide not to contribue anything into my 401k, the company will give me 5% of my salary into a retirement savings. If I decide to contribute 6%, they will match the 6%, in addition to the free 5%. I'm hesitant to add the incentive because if the government calls to verify my information, it's going to be different than my base salary. Please let me know if you have any insight or suggestions. Federal government ideal employee of the handicapped? According to a N.Y. Times report the federal government is losing more disabled Americans that regular Americans at a rate of 18.7% decrease in the disabled American catagory and only a 6.9%% decrease for all other employees. The Federal government claims every October to be National Handicapped awareness month. It's the big photo opportunity for politicians to have their pictures taken with the president and a lucky two or three disabled Americans that were hired to positions that took four and eight year degrees to get that job. It's a good ol' boys club to get a federal job. The President's Ticket To Work Program was supposed to give disabled Americans another avenue of employment to the already dozen or so ways to get hired. The persons that work for Ticket to work all got jobs to help disabled Americans find work. The work was given to the workers at Ticket to work and disabled Americans assume the position. Remember, I am of a minority that any American can join in seconds.
How thorough are entry-level federal government employee background checks? When I was 19 years old, I got into an alcohol-related fight at my college. As a result of this incident, I was arrested, fingerprinted, spent a night in jail, and charged with "minor in possession" and "assault and battery" (a felony). When I went to court, the charges were suspended, so they would be dismissed as long as I didn't get into any further trouble, which fortunately I didn't. Now, six years later, I've finished my education and am considering applying for entry-level government jobs as an economic analyst in Washington, D.C. Although my state and federal criminal records are clear, I'm still concerned that my youthful indiscretion will show up when I apply for government jobs, since I was fingerprinted and arrested (the police report never goes away). I think this would pose no problem for jobs in the private-sector, since my criminal records are clear. But are government background checks more thorough, and so it might pose more of a problem? And if it is ok to contact. Does anyone know when they would contact your references. I know going to the academy and becoming a cop to get experience is going to be the first thing on your mind but besides that what clubs, events, jobs, etc. can I get into now that will give me pretty good recognition when my application is submited? why do we expect the federal gov. to fix the every thing? why do we want the federal government to fix every thing from Katrina, flooding in the west, storm damage,school systems every thing when its not really their job. they are to keep our boarders and control what goes on between the states. which they cant do because we are making them do everything else. ever hear of insurance? I pay it every one that has something worth value pays it or they dont care enough about it. the real question is why is the federal government doling out tax money to bale out people too stupid to protect what they have. why should the working class tax payer pay for lazy stupid people that didnt care enough to insure their belongings? or bale out states that rather spend their money on parties and good times then to fix the infastructure of the state? its not the federal governments job people. the more they do the more it cost you in money and rights. dont give up your freedom for stupidity.
