What makes you eligible or ineligable for government employment? I was just wondering what are the circumstances that cause you to become ineligible for a government position. I applied at a temporary agency for a temp-permament government position. They told me I was not eligible, but when i asked them why, they couldn't tell me..What would make me ineligible..I have never been arrested..Why can't they tell me why I would be ineligible. I realize certain classes used to be protected, but where I live, white is actually a minority; so why should they be left out.... I don't have a problem with helping people get a job, but there is one thing I don't understand, why would a person who is not qualified for a job get it over a person who actually: DOES THE JOB RIGHT. I believe a person who is doing a job, no matter what; should actually know and understand what they are doing. Don't you!! Maybe that is why there are soooo many mistakes being made; especially in government jobs...
Are the government employment agencies job a scam or real job? I found a website for jobs that is offered by the goverment. They say that pay is from $12-48 an hour, depends on how high I score on the test. They said they have position that I can choose from. However, the process fee is $68 for application, test, etc. they said that if I dont get job offers, they would give me the money back. are those job real? do you know? it is not online job, it is a government agency they say. what do you think?
Is Government employment the new welfare system? While NSPS is too new to see it's effects, but with generally low accountability, guaranteed pay increases, and near impossibly for layoff how can the majority of Government employment not be seen as a welfare system.
Government employment point compilation? How are points tabulated for government employment? I know about point preference, but I was wondering if education was also calibrated, or if it is subjective?
I am applying for a government job. What can they find out about my employment history? For the most part, I know that previous jobs can only release certain bits of info regarding your previous employment. Specifically, start and end dates and title. I heard that government jobs can dig deeper and get more info. I was terminated from one of my jobs in my career history. Can they find this out? Also, will they ask character questions? I did not get along with my bigoted boss and I’m afraid he can say terrible things about me! Thanks in advance for your help!
Those of you with federal government jobs: How long did the hiring process take? The federal government is notorious for having a very long and drawn out hiring process. It isn't uncommon for a person to apply for a job in January and not hear anything until May or June. After submitting a resume through USAjobs, filling out the occupational questionnaire, making the selection list and participating in a second interview how long does it usually take after this interview for the government to reach a hiring decision? Would you share some of the experiences you have had with federal government employment? I'm specifically concerned about FCIP (federal career intern position) programs
Social Security benefits for local government workers? I emigrated here from the U.K. ten years ago. I worked in the private sector for two years, prior to moving into local government employment, where SS taxes are not stopped from my pay. If I remain in government employment, I am not going to accrue the 40 credits required for SS benefits upon retirement. Can someone please explain what SS benefits I will NOT be entitled to, and how government employees can overcome this? The SSA.gov website is not particularly helpful in explaining this, so anyone's personal knowledge would be appreciated
can you sue the federal government for breach of an employment contract? I have a signed offer letter for employment and 1 week before I was supposed to report across the country for duty and after I had already purchased airfare and hotel accomodations,I recived a call that my file needed to be vetted and now its been 8 months and still no answer and my credit has become terrible which will preclude me from taking the position once vetting is done.
US Government Employment policy on Tattoos? I plan on working for the state department when I graduate college, and was wondering if anyone knew the US Government's official policy, if there is one, on having tattoos? Is it just common sense and cover them up?
Poll: Government Employment...........? Some people believe that governments should implement policies that promote full employment during times of economic instability, other beleive that market forces should be relied upon to restore employment and prosperity. To what extent should governments intervene in an economy to encourage full employment?
Disadvantages of employment in the canadian government? I have a question I need to answer about the advantages and disadvanatges of working in the public service in Canada. Well I have lots of advantages but I cannot think of any disadvantages. If anyone can think of something it would be appreciated.
Government Assistance. Government Employment? If a person plans to work for the government later on, would it affect his employment application and chance of getting hired later on if he's asked for temporary government assistance right now? The person needs temporary help on house rent for her and her kids, getting a job until he gets back on her own feet.
To achieve full-employment output (exactly), government should? Suppose the price level is fixed, the MPC is .8, and the GDP gap is a negative $320 billion. To achieve full-employment output (exactly), government should: 1) increase government expenditures by $320 billion. 2) increase government expenditures by $80 billion. 3) reduce taxes by $320 billion. 4)reduce taxes by $80 billion.
Federal Government employment? I just received a job offer with the federal government, and reading the details of the job announcement it says that candidates will be required to complete a form OF-306 prior to employment. My concern is question #9 on the form. Several months ago I received a public intoxication fine and I was jailed for a few hours as well. It was a class C misdemeanor, and actually quite a trap that the city set up. The apparently passed new laws which prohibits drinking alcohol in a certain park near a very popular river...that seemed to round up many people and take them to jail for this...quite the income maker for the city. Anyhow, I will disclose this of course on the form, but I am curious as to whether that will affect my job offer....any thoughts?

Percentage of Aboriginal Australians in Parliament or Government Employment? I am wondering why it appears to Americans that Australians in general think Senator Obama has no chance of winning U.S. Presidency. What is the racial or ethnic breakdown of Australian parliament? Also, percentage of women in parliament? If there is something you do not like about how I have asked this, fire away. Won't be the first incoming for me. Honest question, though. Do Australians think a senior, WASP & southern background American would not vote for Obama? How about a person with bear avatar? Does race matter more there or here? I thought it was becoming a non-issue most everywhere.
I want to find government resources for hiring people with physical disabilities. Anyone know of a site? I have a young business providing Technical Support to small and medium business (less then 75 employees). One of the services I offer is remote technical support. I would like to find out if there are people with disabilities that my local or Fed government subsidizes for employment. Meaning Uncle Sam helps put me in contact with appropriate candidates, and helps me pay for their salary and/or training. It would help me, and the individuals out.

Is the Labour government peddling a complete pack of lies about employment, inflation and housing ? It wouldn't be the first time Tony Blair and his loopy men told us complete falsehoods for their own purposes - the inflation figures of 2.4 % do not tally with money supply growth of 14% to August. Unemployment is nearer five million than whatever rubbish they are fabricating this time and housing figures are compiled by groups of people (ie building societies, banks, estate agents and politically pressured state sources) who have a vested interest in keeping the housing boom going. Meanwhile the replacement to 'bankrupcies' the IVA or Individual Voluntary Arrangements have mushroomed from 2,000 in 2002 to 40,000 in 2006. Are we being systematically lied to by the Labour government ??? The main problem emerging for the UK is the growing levels of unemployment and concealed unemployment. The jobless totals have been rising for the last two years. The number officially out of work stands at 1.68 million. If you factor in most of the people on disability benefit who would like a job and could do one, and those on other benefits like single parent benefit who would also like to find employment, we discover that there are a staggering 5 million people in the UK without jobs. The Chancellor himself believes that many of those on disability and single parent benefit should find jobs, and has developed elaborate programmes to bring this about. He is proving, yet again, that government programmes cannot overcome deeper seated obstacles to job creation in a modern economy. http://www.competitivechallenge.com/index.php/archives/policy-group-interim-report/#more-48 Also reference the Financial Times - 17 th Oct for IVA statistics. and Reuters for the increases in M4 money supply 13.8% increase to August
Does a temporary restraining order show up in a exstensive background check for government employment? Here is an interesting question my friend asked me about her boyfriend. Her boyfriend just recently graduated college, however, he was involved in some situation seven years ago that led to a temporary restraining order that lasted 9 months. Most of the jobs that he has been applying to require a background check and some are even more extensive and require a background check of 10 years past. He really wants this government job and thinks he may not get because of the temporary restraining order. It doesn't seem like I am getting one answer here. It seems fifty fifty. Some ppl think it will show up and others think it won't.
The new laws for children in employment in India? The new laws came out recently for children employed in India, you cannot employ anyone under the age of 14 anymore, and they have to be in schools. The law in itself though very clear makes a mockery of the government who passed the law. 1.Where are the schools for the millions of children now on the streets? 2.For the homeless and orphans, what facilities are there? 3.Most of the children working were providing additional income to their poor parents 4.Should the governments in the third world countries listen to the cries of the first world countries? 5.In the first world countries you see the young boys vandalizing properties, stealing and causing human misery for ordinary citizens. 6.Children in India are occupied making a living and have no time to go around doing what their counterparts do in the first world countries. 7.Supposing the government is able to find schools and teachers for these children, what about their other day to day expenses and what about their families who depended on their income? 8.Again supposing all the children went to school and qualified, where will the government find employment for them, with millions being born and after the limited job market and only those with very high qualification can be absorbed into that. 9.Having studied, to what ever level, will these children accept any jobs, or fight for jobs more suited to their education. Having looked at all the above points, will the children having got their diplomas and degrees become like people in UK and USA etc, living on the government handouts. At least in those countries you have unemployment benefit schemes, does or can India afford that. So what will happen to these “men” Now, that’s any bodies guess.
